Still Aud 55 for 24 m with free p20 pro better

    • Hey @duodeta, can I ask where you saw that plan, please? I can't find it on the JB site.

    • @duodeta Is this deal still available?

    • That deal was the best - I got it in december, no regrets

    • +1

Well, if you are talking about value for money, this deal is actually better compare to P20 pro or Mate 20. Data get cheaper over the time, and with 5g coming out soon 4g data will probably be much cheaper(Just like how 3g data when 4g came out).

      • How is this better when for the same price per month ($55) you're getting an extra 20gb plus a P20 Pro??

        • Where is that deal ?

        • Because with the old deal you are locked into 24 months contract whereas the current deal is only 12 months and as planetandre has said data is getting cheaper over time so by the time you are in the 2nd year of your contact you are probably going to be overpaying

Existing telstra on old plan/out of contract ok to go to this?

    • New connections or ports only as per T&C

    • +8

Too hard to click on the banner and read?

      • Someone has their fingers faster than brains

    • You need to port over to another carrier (Vodafone takes around 10 minutes). Just say you're going overseas and want a number holder and they'll do it free. Or 2$.

      • So, I simply just need to end my existing plan with Telstra - port to Vodaphone with a $2 sim, and then sign up through JB?

        • Yes wait a few days for the Telstra databases to sync/clear up.

        • +1

Yep. If you're on a plan you may need to wait as suggested until you've cancelled and paid up. If you're not on contract you can do it freely

        • Yep. I just signed with Vodafone the other day and will swap to this deal in the next week. TBH though, my experience with Telstra's coverage has been utterly woeful. They seem to be getting worse by the day… (I work in the Melbourne CBD and commute to the outer suburbs and it's just so flakey). Other work colleagues agree. If it wasn't for the voucher, I don't think I'd even bother going back to Telstra.

          • @Maz78: I tend to agree, Vodafone seems better for me in metro areas than Telstra, but obviously in regional areas Telstra wins.

          • @Maz78: I've been with Telstra for a year, and coverage and speed has been incredible for me. I have previously been with optus and vodaphone. Vodaphone was shocking last time I was with them, but I hear they've improved.

Out of my friends, the two of us that are on Telstra are the only ones that consistently have reception when everyone else doesn't. Everyone else seems to always be complaining about their shitty reception, and there has never been a time that I didn't have reception but someone else did.

I hit speeds over 180mbit reliably, sometimes over 200mbit. I've even stopped using wifi on my phone almost entirely because 4G is so much faster and much more stable.

            • @Harold Halfprice: Just bizarre how we have wildly different experiences. I work in Collins St in the Melbourne CBD. Myself, and the members of my team use Telstra. We all are lucky to get 1 bar of reception on our iPhones. We get frequent call drop outs. Others in my office have Optus and full coverage with no issue. Every time I go through the city loop tunnel, I lose ALL internet access! I don't get it. I've even changed phones and sim cards during this time and it's no different.

            • @Harold Halfprice: I just moved from Sydney to Brisbane. Telstra was fantastic for inner Syd CBD, leagues ahead of Optus on the same phone. Now moved to Brissie and Telstra has got nothing on Optus - it's crazy, even on the train the signal rarely goes above H+. I will be trying Optus.

  • Thanks

Can rate that one of the best mid-range phones in the 300s.

    • If they want access to my p0rn they just have to ask

    • +3

Yes, probably cheaper than paying for US spying..

    • You should stop watching/reading the news so you stop repeating conspiracy theories invented by US intelligence agencies.

You are going around repeating literal bullshit that there is no evidence for and you believe it to be real because you have been brainwashed by hearing it repeated endlessly.

      • -2

You need to read the news more. Why would someone (Example US, Australia, NZ) share you how they get their intelligence from?

        • -1

You need to read even further until you find ‘actual evidence’ that the so-called ‘intelligence’ is actually true.

      • not conspiracy theories. it would be naive to think supply chain tampering didn't happen especially from the more powerful countries.

It would be egotistical to think it would happen to spy on yourself.

    • +1

Τhis comment is so ignorant it hurts

    • +2

Not the forum to bring it up and definitely not against anything Huawei or Xiaomi .. :) .. you’ll get roasted haha But it’s the easiest way for China to gather intelligence so we’d be a fool to think it doesn’t happen… whether it’s via a shitty midrange phone or even a decent phone in the hands of a generic Aussie citizen that’s the real debate … lol

  • This is only a good option if you can get around $300 cash in hand, can't help but think this phone was be AS easy to sell as say a typical Samsung too.

    • if you only want the plan,I'll buy the phone for $300

      • I'd be willing to sell the phone if I sign up. Which state are you in?

Edit: Or anyone else in Melbourne that is interested - send me a PM

  • -2

@dust,you'd better ask Malcolm to share Chinese Spying evidence with UK,Germany and New Zealand Govts before it's too late. Prob share with Trump as well.

  • Can you get international pack on this plan?

  • +6

JB Elizabeth has the same deal but with an iPhone 6s if anyone looking. No S10 stock :(

    • +1

Thanks for the tip - the iPhone is certainly more tempting!

      • +2

Why downvotes? The iPhone should have a higher resale

      • 6s is way too old, unless you only care for 'an iphone'

      • +1

Can't tell if this is sarcasm…

    • Can confirm that's also nationwide.

      • So it’s a choice between the Huawei and iPhone 6s?

I actually won’t mind the 6s as a backup iPhone.

  • Is port in required?

    • +2

No, I nice Sherry will do fine…

  • Is this for new customers only? My wife's plan with telstra just expired can she keep her number if she goes on this plan?

    • You have to port in to Telstra from another carrier inorder to get the deal

      • Does port in from Woolies/Aldi mobile etc. count for the bonus?

  • This is actually a really good deal with access to Telstra network

  • if anyone in Adelaide only want the plan,I'm offering $300 for the Nova 3i

  • Only if telstra would do international roaming like what voda does….

  • If anyone in melbourne is intrested in the phone am happy to sell for $300 and ill take the plan

    • +2

Hi turn on your private messages and we can discuss :)

Or if anyone else just wants the plan, I'm in need of a new phone for the wife.

  • It really sucks that Telstra customers can't get this or family/friends when every other phone plan at Telstra is a rip-off. It's like they want people to leave for a couple years and come back.

    • Port over to another carrier for 10 mins and walk into jb…

      • Unfortunately it's the only service on the account and I have a 10% Telstra alumni discount I don't want to lose.

    • +1

Can i get 40GB per month for 5$??
      thank you

        • +1

          Gimme the long answer

            • +1

              @tempura: So you got issues

            • +1

@tempura: Isn't the whole point of Ozbargain to help share with others how to get good deals?

              • @TheBean: Hi, did you read the whole convo between me and nikoris? I didn't appreciate how his reply was.

  • So 60gb a month for a Nova 3i on a $55 p/m plan lasting 1 year?

    • Yes thats correct.

      • Can we get a title change please?

        • +2

Yup it really needs to be changed. Becuz it's 60GB per month (720 GB for 12 months)

  • Are we locked in with JB with this offer ?
If we take the BYO plan, can we upgrade to a mobile plan with Telstra in few months and still keep the Nova 3i ?

    • Yes it's a contract… You'll have a payout required if you want to terminate the contract.

      • Isnt the contract with Telstra ?
How will JB know if I moved to a plan with a mobile ?

        • +1

Yes you should be able to upgrade to a mobile phone included plan. Telstra generally does not charge you to upgrade your personal plans from BYO to device included. However you would have to stay with Telstra and the contract will start from the day you upgrade.. You can also do this at JB Hi-Fi when you are ready.

          • @hypie: Thanks Hypie. So I dont have to pay JBHiFi any contract cancellation cost ??

            • +2

@Jaff: JB Hi-Fi is just a telstra dealer. Not much different to a telstra store. No cancelation costs should exist. I would ask them to show you the critical information summary to make sure.

p.s. I no longer work for JB Hi-Fi but Ozbargain admins don't want to remove my association despite numerous requests.

              Mod: Association removed

              • @hypie: Can we downgrade to 45 per month plan after 2 months

  • So the phone is just a bonus from JB HiFi not locked to Telstra right?

    • I highly doubt this is a locked handset

  • Says Valued at $449?

12 month contract is the best thing going for it.

  • If anyone in Perth wants the plan but not the phone I'll happily buy for $300. PM me.

  • If anyone from Northern Brisbane or Sunshine Coast get this deal and don't want the phone. I'll buy it for $300 for the phone in sealed box.

  • I signed a 55 plan two months ago with JIBI , the speed is really slow, the reception is worse than my previous OPTUS.

    • +1

Does your phone have band 28? I haven't encountered any black spots on Telstra.

  • If anyone in Sydney wants to purchase the Nova, I will sell for $300 please pm me.

  • -2

    Expensive spying device

    • +1

      you apparenetly overvalued yourself!

  • I'm in Brisbane and I'd like to buy the phone for $300 if anyone selling it :)

  • is this https://www.jbhifi.com.au/Global/Categories/Computing/Carous…
    available without buying the tablet?
