FFS give it a rest. It also lacks band28 and NFC.

      • +2

Thank you! This needed to be said!

No wireless charging is a dealbreaker for me

Is this the gen 2 model that can go on carpet?

will this work without the gateway?

Global rom installed? bootloader unlocked ?

        What about local warranty?

        Take your pick ;-)

      • -2

Gee, sorry for stating a fact so some people don't get fined for driving one and wasting their money.

      • +4

This refers to scooters registered to ride on the road, not those like the M365.

      • The states where one can drive a scooter with your car licence are Queensland, South Australia, Northern Territory and Western Australia

        Incorrect

    • +7

      Still illegal everywhere but Queensland

I don't why you've been neg'ed?…. You may have just saved some spending $500 on a scooter they can't legally use, or a $650 fine if they do use it.

      • Electric bicycles are also limited to 200/250 watts, but most people are running more than that.

      • -8

He's getting negged because, unlike proactive people who make a difference in the world, he is just whinging and whining and being negative.
Yes it is against the law in NSW. Because the law is wrong in NSW.
We are going to change the law, by electing David Leyonhjelm and by getting rid of bignosejiklian, etc.

        • +1

That logic didn't make any sense until you mentioned David Leyonhjelm.
Then it all became clear to me. Carry on.

        • There's no need to attack her physical appearance just because you don't agree with her policy.

        • +1

I like how you assume my intention and then are completely wrong. I posted simply so the title/post might be updated to prevent people dropping half a grand on a scooter they can't use and getting fined for riding it too.

    • +7

I think it's still worth someone saying this each time to warn anyone who may be new to ozbargain and this product.

    • +2

Looks like you comply with VIC scooter laws by modding the firmware to limit the scooter to a 10km/h maximum speed limit and just optimise the 'motor power constant' to comply the 200w max output. Firmware mod here: https://m365.botox.bz

There has been a scooter trial running in St Kilda since December which use modded Ninebot scooters. The company claims to be compliant with VIC scooter laws and they are used in public spaces/footpaths. I'm sure the VIC gov would have swept these guys up by now if they were illegal.

    • +4

Just stick a "250 watt" sticker on it somewhere.

    • +7

Not sure why potplanty is getting negged.

This needs to be said in every one of these scooter deals, because the retailer certainly doesn't tell you that what you are buying is probably illegal to use in public (the reason most people buy these scooters).

The fact its legal in Qld doesn't mean it should just be ignored elsewhere. Rightly or wrongly, it IS illegal everywhere else.

That disclaimer should be on ALL these scooter deals.
Look at the Tesla deal… 3,000 odd votes, and I'm sure there are many more people reading that don't vote or dont have an account.

Illegal is illegal…. and thousands of people who read these deals (some on an infrequent basis), need to be aware of that.

      • -2

they aren’t just used on public paths and are legal on private paths.
You can modify to conform to the laws for public.

Maybe we should start reporting the kJ on all the maccas and coles deals just in case people don’t want to take personal responsibility

Edit : I agree it needs to be said but maybe be more helpful

        • The difference with kJ is that it's not illegal to consume too many.
Personal responsibility (which I agree with you on) is one, legality is another. There's a big difference between the two.

      • +1

The people who neg are the same sheep species that would line up for days for the next iphone because other sheep are doing it

    • -1

      Who cares……….I live in QLD!

  • +2

    Goddam paid $560 last week!!!

    • I feel your pain, but you win some, you lose some. Just enjoy the fact that you have it :)

      • $539 for me, but I'll have saved about $30 in public transport before this one could have arrived I guess… haha

  • I reckon these will be under $450 in the next few months

    • +26

It’s free if you remove the beef patty

      • +1

Thank you. Actual LOLs at this.

  • Must have missed out on how to get the 15% gift cards. Anyone got a link?

    • Same question

      • +1

Not at the moment. These are rare but I have a feeling it may be soon.

        • -1

As in, your opinion or are you privy to something? Either way, it's pretty misleading to have that comment when it's not applicable.

          • -1

@orly: My opinion. I don't have links to ebay.

            • -1

@Taegukgi: Then I suggest that you remove the comment on 15% gift card as it isn't applicable.

              • +3

@orly: Fair call. I still have mine from previous purchase.

  • +6

    Max Load 100kg, that sucks

    • Yep!

    • +18

      Get 2.

    • +2

Not to be rude but are you in the healthy weight range for your age group?

      • +3

He's 7ft tall and all muscles.

Seriously though, at what age is 100kg+ healthy?

        • +5

Any age, because that has nothing to do with it. I have been fit and healthy and around 100kg for the past decade or two.

Weight alone says nothing about the makeup of that mass. Most football players are over 100kg and I don't think anyone would consider their bodies 'unhealthy'.

          • +1

@henno: Pretty well this. I've been playing club footy for years, I haven't been under 115kg since about 2009 at this point, and I reckon I could happily run circles around my 80ish kg mates

          • -2

@henno: 100kg for someone in their 50s would be considered very unhealthy. More so as you get older so someone’s age is definitely something to take into account when looking at their weight and understanding how healthy they are.

The composition of football players’ bodies are generally made up of muscle mass as oppose to fat. And the average person isn’t a football player that trains as stenous on a daily basis, and they probably don’t have a nutritionist and medical staff monitoring their fitness level and overall health. Regardless, anyone can still be unhealthy if they’re overweight irrespective of what they do. You can’t conclude that weightlifters are healthy just because they’re athletes that train every day and have a higher muscle mass that enables them to lift heavy weights. Thus, a high fitness level doesn’t immediately suggest you’re healthy when for example your food intake is still highly comprised of junk food.

Using the BMI calculator, if you’re circa 6’6 tall, 100kg is just touching overweight so you can imagine what that means if you’re <6’6 tall at that weight. Considering all things equal and ignoring other factors, weight and health are inversely related, so the more you weigh, the less likely you are considered healthy and vice versa. There’s a reason why obesity causes so many health complications.

On a side note, I’m not fat shaming anyone as it’s none of my business but the fact is that obesity is linked to an unhealthy lifestyle. I can’t imagine the average person consuming healthy foods and exercising frequently can weigh that much, ignoring any underlying condition they may have.

          • -1

@henno: very few professional athletes are over 100kg. many are surprisingly slim because they dont have fat.

            • @bigmanlukaku: The average weight of an international Rugby Union player is 105kg. The average weight of an NFL player is 111kg. The average weight of an NBA player is 101kg. The average weight of an NRL player is 100kg. The list of team and individual sports to counter your baseless statement of “very few professional athletes are over 100kg” could go on.

              • @aja12: Rugby players arent necessarily healthy and most of that weight is a lot of muscle. They are the exception not the norm even in the field of professional sports and I'd suggest you look at the BMI of those NBA players. Most are well above the average height. Most athletes in sports including AFL, soccer, hockey, swimming, tennis ect are well below 100kg. Youd be hard pressed to find someone over 100kg in those sports. If you are over 100kg you are fat unless you are exceptionally tall.

    • -1

If you're that fat you should probably walk

    • +2

Inb4 I'm not fat I'm just big boned comments

  • Wow, what a deal! And to think i paid $636 only a few weeks ago…

Make sure you slime the tires asap! I've already had to repair my rear tire and that's only going around Brisbane city.

    • Is that repairing before or after sliming?

    • What is slime the tires?

    • Im with you had spare tubes and had to change the front one, couldn't get the valve out ended up just patching it sliming and blowing up again. No problems since

      • I slimed it after my first flat, went all good after that for a couple days and actually just went flat again today! I did get the spare tires with the bundle, not sure if i should just replace or try patch and slime it again..

    • +1

Or could get solid tyres as a replacement, then you never have to worry about replacing tubes.

      • the tires are the only suspension it has - I wouldn't go solid

        • Yeah solid does make it rougher. However, make sure you get the solid with holes. These are smoother

      • Considering it…Less smooth ride but it would solve this problem..

        • I have a Ninebot ES4 with solid tyres - I'm sure it's a rougher ride than yours but imo it's totally fine and I never worry about terrain.

  • Price dropped!!

  • i wouldnt mind riding these in the cbd of melbourne.

    • -2

Too many people and its illegal to ride in the bike lane. Wouldnt be much fun. Plus free Trams in CBD :)

      • +1

do we still have bike lanes

        • Off the top of my head there is a segregated bike lane going west on Latrobe st from William st.

    • I've had mine a few days now from the last deal, coming in from Brunswick is great, but I basically get off at Carlton gardens and work to my office (not far from Carlton Gardens) - there are too many people on the footpaths to keep going safely and the bike lanes are pretty manic too. Maybe with more confidence this will change though.

  • Was wondering when the new pro version will be able to buy ?

  • +3

It's only $413 with 10% off now. Wow!

EDIT: After about an hour they've changed it back to $519

  • Wow less than $400 would be a steal! surely it'll hit that price when the 2nd gen comes out.

  • Does anyone use these just for fun joyriding? I'm in Brisbane so I guess I could just go into the city and use the lime scooters for my fix.

    • For the 4 lime rides i've done, the total is $15,

I've estimated it would take me an extra 132 rides for it to be more worth it for me to not use a lime scooter and buy this thing going just by the ride price.

Factors in limes favour are the lack of burden of repair, the lack of needing to carry the scooter or helmet and the better weight carriage (I'm 89kg)

Factors against, well I only rarely visit Brisbane, I actually live in Noosa where there are bugger all scooters but then again i'm less likely to use one here.

      • +2

I actually live in Noosa where there are bugger all scooters but then again i'm less likely to use one here.

I spend a solid amount of my time on the sunny coast because my family all live here, and I'd say it's only a matter of time until Lime roll out here. The tourist potential is amazing, especially in places like Caloundra, Mooloolaba and Noosa where people can just scoot along the esplanade. I'm gonna go ahead and predict that they'll have established on the coast by the end of 2019, especially since council seem to be in favour of that kind of transport (unlike the Gold Coast).

  • +2
    • $589 now…

    • +1

yeah they upped the price… no longer $405

edit: BUT . they stock the white model (rare ish)

  • Are the Segway ones made by Xiaomi too? I'm confused.

    • Xiaomi made both the segway ninebot es2 and the m365.

      • Xiaomi doesn't "make" this stuff - they basically buy it from high quality OEMs and markets it under their label. Hence why you will see some overlaps in their range.

    • Xioami bought out segway completely and now they just make separate brands under the same roof.

  • no longer valid……….

  • +4

Phew lucky price went up before i finished buying. Was just about to buy another thing i would never use!

  • Thanks Op- I am now a student. Also getting the lube. Good for when peak hour is on in Brissie and you can say toodaloo mfs

  • is it legel to ride in ACT? Do I need insurance, registration or licence to ride?

  • Weird one, I grabbed one of these scooters and where I’ve left it to sit on my hardwood floors, the tyres have reacted somehow with the floor finish and made these yellow marks. Bizzare. Anyone else experienced this? My bicycle tyres haven’t done the same thing.
