[PC] DRM-free - Homeworld Remastered Collection (HW1+HW2+Classic versions of both) - $6.99 AUD (Normal price: $34.99 AUD) @ GOG

130

For those of you who would prefer to get your games DRM-free and want to support GOG (which is always a very good thing in my opinion) and do not require a Steam key, you can save $0.09 AUD and get the Homeworld Remastered Collection from GOG.

Note: It has been mentioned that that the Steam version is also running for Mac Operating System while the GOG version is not. It also seems that the multiplayer for GOG and Steam is separate and is not interoperable.

As with the Steam version (current offer on Fanatical for $7.09 AUD, posted by myself) you will get:

  • Homeworld 1 Remastered
  • Homeworld 2 Remastered
  • Access to Homeworld 1 Classic (I assume this will be a separate download)
  • Access to Homeworld 2 Classic (I assume this will be a separate download)

From the website:

The Homeworld Remastered Collection includes:
Homeworld Remastered Edition
Homeworld 2 Remastered Edition
Homeworld Remastered Multiplayer

As a bonus, you will also receive free access to:
Homeworld Classic
Homeworld 2 Classic

Experience the epic space strategy games that redefined the RTS genre. Control your fleet and build an armada across more than 30 single-player missions. Choose unit types, fleet formations and flight tactics for each strategic situation. Utilize advanced research to construct ships ranging from light fighters to huge carriers and everything in between.

The Homeworld games have been painstakingly re-mastered with key members of the original development team and taking critical influence and assistance from the passionate fan community. The Homeworld Remastered Collection introduces Relic's acclaimed space strategy games Homeworld and Homeworld 2 to modern players and operating systems using the newest sophisticated graphics rendering technology, plus a fully remastered score and new, high fidelity voice recordings by the original actors.

As a free bonus, this collection also includes original, non-remastered versions of Homeworld Classic and Homeworld 2 Classic, preserving the purest form of the original releases with compatibility for modern operating systems.

Homeworld Remastered Collection also provides access to Homeworld Remastered GOG Multiplayer. The competitive multiplayer modes for both Homeworld and Homeworld 2 have been combined into one centralized mode that will allow you access to content (races, maps, and game modes) and improvements, features and technology from both games, allowing you to play unlimited competitive multiplayer space battles on an epic scale.

  • Build and battle with more than 100 space ships
  • Updated high-res textures and models
  • New graphical effects
  • Support for HD, UHD, and 4K resolutions
  • New audio mix using original source effects and music
  • Cinematic scenes recreated in beautiful high fidelity by original artists
  • Mod support and mod tools
  • Bonus archival versions of Homeworld Classic and Homeworld 2 classic, preserving the purest form of the original releases with compatibility for modern operating systems
  • Access to Homeworld Remastered GOG Multiplayer: play Homeworld races against Homeworld 2 races with up to eight players on 23 maps, plus brand new game modes

Enjoy!

In case it’s a factor, the Steam copy looks to support Mac where the GOG one does not. Apparently something to do with Aspyre who handled the port not having a relationship to GOG (at least for this title) where they do for Steam.

  • The first game had a really good soundtrack, including a choral version of Barber's Adagio for Strings. I haven't evaluated the second yet.

  • It looks like steam and gog have separate multiplayer in case that is relevant to anyone.

    • I presume that only steam is active? Or neither of them?

I don't own the game so I dunno but I'd assume neither of them. It would only be a point if you want to play with a friend or something.

I was very impressed by this game 20 years ago. I haven't played it since, but the graphics were so amazing I think they'd have to hold up on the classic versions.

GoG is a shit company ethically, so that’s worth considering before you give them money. They trivialise rape victims and openly mock trans people. Bunch of Bro’s.

Do you have any evidence (links) for this claim?

    • They mocked games journalism, regarding the Gamersgate situation, I didn't know about the other issues. Can you let us know what happened and when please?

  • bought it 2years ago? With ¥50 in steam China store. = $10AUD
