    Ear thermometer is better. Skin thermometer will be affected by the room temperature.

      Ear thermometers are a pain. Need to get the angle right, and impossible to take a child's temperature without waking them. Then there's the consumables (covers). GP's use contactless like this, so it must be okay.

      And this is not a skin thermometer. I agree, those are useless. This is infrared.

      Got one, they are fantastic for measuring kids without waking them up, very fast. as for the accuracy armpit mercury 37, braun ear 38, this will show 38-39.5 depends position and distance . 39.5 can be a bit concerning in baby but just know it can be on the high side. I use it for the change in temperature rather then the exact diagnostic temperature. eg after taking panadol measure every 5 min you can see the temperature dropping over time without waking the baby up.
