Was looking to buy a decent monitor, found this LG 27" 75hz refresh rate monitor for $249 at Binglee. Harvey Norman Hoppers Crossing's staff declined to price match citing a bizzare reason that Binglee items are not covered by ACL. I wasn't convinced and felt this was their another tactic to deter customers from price matching. While I was in the store, I contacted Harvey Norman online chat CSR, and I was able to successfully pricematch the monitor and then click n collect from the same store instantly.

The expression on store rep's face was priceless.

Here is the pricematch offer email:

You might find better deal as someone pointed out in comments.

The reason that I posted this on ozb is to bring to everyone's attention my experience with price matching at Harvey Norman. And especially their tactics for not pricematching.

Bing Lee items are covered by ACL.

Exactly. I know that. But, this tells us to what extent the hardly normals store staff would go for not pricematching.

      Fair enough.

For anyone looking at local after sales support and the freedom of taking it back to retailer if anything goes wrong.
And for anyone, not willing to wait for the order to arrive, I reckon it's a good deal.

Honestly, I was stuck with a $100 gift card from Harvey, so used it as well.
      Monitor cost me $149.

I am posting this so op's should know the hardly normals tactics.

Pretty average monitor. Low HZ and not much in terms of resolution.

I should point out the good part is the lack of screen glare and the matte finish frame.

    • At half the price of monitors with those features, yes. Don't sneer at a camry because it isn't a ferrari, sheesh.

Any good 32 inch 1080p monitors around now?

Can be 60hz or whatever just want something that can get bright and half decent for gaming but honestly a few ms isn't going to affect me compared to the lag i get online anyways.

Want something nice and clear.. colour accuracy not as important not doing anything super professional that requires it.

I am using a 24" 1080p 60hz TN panel right now and sit a bit back in an armchair so honestly almost anything right now is an upgrade and I have room for at least 34".

What monitors have really good brightness sometimes I feel like my current one is quite dull but it could be because it is a TN panel and not IPS.

I went in Harvey Norman for 31.5" LG.

Screen glare and reflections plus glossy frame put me off. I use screen mainly for spreadsheet and reading. So this was a problem.
But it might suit your needs.

      A good price.

      • Hmm I don't get much screen glare where my monitor is thankfully but the glossy frame might be annoying as I have one now and can see the back of my window using it in the day time.

But honestly should not be a major problem.

      • $249 at MSY ($277 at Mr GST) … using staticice

Unless you have terrible eyesight I wouldn't drop below the following in terms of resolution to monitor size:
        22" 1920x1080
        24" 1920x1200
        25" or above 2560x1440
        32" or above 3840x2160

        • Excluding gaming monitors (and graphics card limitations)

Still can't believe that Dell have 1366 x 768 laptop screen in their business range (makes a high performance machine a piece of unusable junk for travel). Argh if only work allowed us to provide input before making terrible purchases.

        • I have very very terrible eyesight.

Pretty atrocious so bigger screens and zooming in help me a lot.

i have a 49" monitor at 1080P. 60% gaming use, my eyesight is fine, I love it though, its fine! there is no one size fits all,

go have a look at the monitor in the store and see if you like it… (even then, that's no substitute for using it for a few hours)
