Where do you see this for $23? The link goes to a $56 items and mods revoked my neg. What a mess

      • If it's showing as $56.95 or anything other than $23.30, click on the "x new from $xx.xx", should be able to see the $23.30. Still has the high delivery cost unless you have AU Prime and order more than $49 though

It's showing $23.30 with prime free international delivery. Must resist.

Edit - correct that it shows $58.40 when checking out.

  • I want to get one for steaks but I live in a small apartment and when I cook on non-stick pans, half the time I would set off the smoke alarms. Would this be worse? Any tips on how to reduce smoke but keep heat high??

    • Do you have a balcony? Could get a little gas burner and do them outside. Worth it to cook on cast iron instead I reckon.

      • I guess that could be an option. Prefer to cook inside though

Do u have a balcony with Alum. Cladding to make your building exterior look nice (fireworks when u accidentally set it on fire).

    • +3

Try peanut oil instead of canola or olive oil.

Apparently it has a higher burn/smoke temperature.

Rice bran is also good. But nothing beats smashed garlic cloves, butter and rosemary. Lotsa smoke though lol.

    • try cooking in the oven/broiler. Preheat pan on fire. Then dump steak on pan, shove in oven, close door. Smoke stays inside.

    • Does your smoke alarm have a mute button?
I also live in a small apartment and I'm pretty sure none of my neighbours know that our brand of alarm can be muted before cooking.

      • I don't actually know but I'll check next time for sure. And remember to turn it back on haha

They reactivate automatically after 10mins. If it's similar to mine you just press the test button once and a light flashes. After 10mins it will do a single chirp to indicate it is about to reactivate, giving you enough time to press the button again if you're still cooking.

    great pans though :)

    • I'd seen it jump up and down a few times since then on pricehipster.
      Great pans!

  • If you're using Anova and entertaining guests, get a searzall blowtorch for finishing steaks. Dinner and a show!

    • I just use a blowtorch, is the searzall worth the $$$ ?

      • Not if you already have a blowtorch. The Searzall is just nice because it has a wider spread.

careful with what you add to the order, I got one of these last time with a second pan and a book, and it was packed with a single "air bag" that had burst, the book was damaged and one of the pans was cracked.

I did get a refund on the damaged items, but no replacements so I'm back in the same spot in regards to "making up" the order for free shipping.

    • Same here, ordered 3 pans and one was cracked. Have to send it back and they only offer refund for the item. Good pans though.

  • Do I need to have "US Amazon Prime" to get free delivery? Or does Aussie Amazon Prime also work?

    • +2

AU Prime gets you free delivery as long as you spend over $49.

      • Great.

But if the item was in amazon US - and not amazon global - then I'd have to have "Amazon US" prime, right?

        • AU Prime gets you free delivery as long as you spend over $49

        • I believe Amazon AU prime gives you free delivery (no min spend) for Amazon AU items AND free delivery (min spend $49) for Amazon US items

  • BCF has decent prices on cast iron cookware.
