Impact comics in Garema Place Canberra are giving away free comics (only on a certain range) on this coming Saturday 7th May only. It also seems to be at other Comic stores around Australia but no other stores are mentioned.

I think it may have been down all day. I just realised my previous post was confusing - I meant I had just clicked on the OP's link. From previous posts, I assume you live in Sydney? Just thought I would let you know that King's Comics last year only had one or two crappy comics (I forget what it was/they were now) available that I didn't end up bothering taking (it wasn't because they had run out of others). The previous years they had all, or most, though, so hopefully this year they'll go back to doing that.
Yep… I went to Kings Comics last year and they were out of everything! The site is back up again, and it seems like it's the same locations as the previous years.
I highly recommend a visit to Kinokuniya for anyone in Sydney interested in FCBD - they usually get right into it with staff dressed in great costumes, etc!

Not unless it is the world's greatest newsagent. The comics are specifically printed for the day. The publishers print them to promote the reading of comics, the comic stores participate (for the cost of postage of the comics and extra staff) to encourage people into their store.

I usually make sure to get a good old, traditional John Stanley comic (in my defense, I'm female) to insure I get at least one comic that isn't disappointing. However, I see The Tick is also available this year so that's two guarantees for me if they don't run out. :)
The Tick real life show is one of the dumbest shows out there but it does have a memorable quote.
7 May is 'Free Comic Book Day' (International). These days most comic book stores in Australia seem to participate. Unfortunately, the website seems down at the moment: www.freecomicbookday.com.
