  Not a great device for taking a child's temp.

  Google "temporal artery temperatures" and then buy a proper infrared device that measures the child's temperature accurately.
  The difference between a high fever and dangerous fever is only a degree or 2. Don't cheap out on this device.

  Perfectly fine for other temperature readings (like bath water etc), but not for child temperature. Too important.
