  • Why would the lid be on the bottom? Seems awkward.

Made in the Northern Hemisphere for use in the Southern Hemisphere.

How do you find it with regards to cobwebs on the outside & things getting in?

    • I'd like to know this too. Can insects get in?

      • +1

We haven't had any problems so far, but I would assume it wouldn't be impossible. Good value box.

        • I too was wondering about the creepy crawlies, at that price…. might just have to get one

    • +1

I haven’t seen too many spiders in mine

  • Hope this is at other stores too (in Qld). Need something basic like this to throw cushions in to stop fading….

    • It's a bit small for the seating for a lounge or something. You'd only be able to fit the throw cushions on top. Buy maybe that's what you mean

Not sure if this one is the same as the $65 one showing on Bunnings website - here are the Marvel Plus whereas the $65 one is the Sherwood. Might be a random range they got in.

Still going to pick one up.

But found at Bunnings brendale Qld. End of aisle 28/29

  • Confirmed at Bunnings West Footscray :) picked up two!

    • thanks got 1, plan to get another

  • I am looking for the best value and food friendly storage box for containing fruits and produce to keep away from the mice and flies etc.

Currently we are just leaving them out using cardboard boxes as storage and cover but this feels irresponsible and risky to do especially with the occasional rat or mice passing through..I hear them in the kitchen ceiling and walls from time to time.

We have killed and removed a few and this old house has too many entry points full of easily chewed through wood to patch them all with metal so food protection is the last resort for now.

Would be storing rice, cereal, grains, pastas, oranges, potatoes, sweet potatoes, other fruits, apple's I think mainly as carrots, capsicum, string beans, eggplants, tofu, tomatoes and some others get kept in the fridge.

Worst scenario was when I first moved here there was a dead rat in the potato Styrofoam box and no one even noticed.. Yeah I live with some special people.

I am usually the first to notice anything going pear shape with the house which is not good but they do focus on other things so I am trying to make sure at least our food is stored safely and properly.

Looking at galvanized boxes from Bunnings now but any other options for anti rat anti insect would be highly appreciated. I read that fruit acid might not be good for the galvanized metal but other than that maybe some newspaper lining and occasional cleaning should make it a good storage for produce that can be stored away from sunlight.

Just hate seeing wasted and damaged food when many people from around the world are dying and starving without it.

They do lose a lot of food to improper and not ideal storage practices and rats and insects not unlike what you see sometimes on Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares.

Also want to replace the upright fridge into a converted DIY chest freezer to fridge thermostat controlled energy efficient behemoth that is way more economical and efficient due to the cold not getting lost and coming out every time you open it and hovering around a necessary temperature.

The rest of the house and kitchen for now is ok.. housemate is not the best with energy saving technology and tactics but he is also not maliciously or ignorantly/obliviously bad also so that's great.

Main priority is maintaining kitchen food and the items and energy required to maintain it.

Sorry for the long post.. ozbargain is sometimes my only place or shield from the rest of the world where I can be somewhat sane or think out my thoughts clearly if you can believe that.

Most people don't have this luxury.. Thanks scotty and co for making such a lovely home and website.
