  • Balisim2u not bad either. They deliver to the hotel befit you arrive.

    • Hey chuneeperformance,

Never heard of them before, I'll check it out.

      Cheers!

This is only valid in Bali! It's not really comparabile. I'd rather go with local carriers like xl ayata, i never paid more than $5-8, and include voice calls which i use to call restaurant, hotels and driver. I find balisim2u very expensive.

  • Hi! :D I used SimsDirect to NZ. The instructions were wrong though, made us so confused. The instructions were to call some number and follow the prompt. but it should have been just pop in the sim card and use it, cause I tried following the prompts and it had nothing related to these pre-loaded sim and made us confused.

Edit - going again in a month so perfect timing :)

    • Hey Nick,

Thanks for your feedback. When I originally created the PDF guides they were incorrect. So I apologise for the confusion Nick!

The guides have been updated since.

Were you able to get the SIM working for data/calls once you activated the SIM?

      Let me know :)

      Cheers,
      -Aidan

      • yeah, just pop in and they are activated and working straight away. Got off the airport, popped in the sim card to use google maps for hotel :) Thanks guys! I'm getting 4 more for April :D

        • Awesome! Glad to have you back Nick :)

          Thanks for the purchase <3

          -Aidan

  • Look like good prices as with the discount, they cost about the same as buying in the local country but with the convenience of having the Sim card and knowing the mobile number before frosting

    • Hey ozssc,

      Thanks for the support :)

Just reach out if you need anything from us!

  • Happy anniversary guys! The South East Asia sim, which provider is that with and would I receive 4G across all the listed countries? Interested in Vietnam and Cambodia in particular.

    • +2

      Thanks so much!

The SIM is manufactured by China Unicom but uses the local networks:

      Cambodia - Metfone (4G)
      Vietnam - Viettel (4G)

4G in all countries besides Laos.

Hope that clears it up for you :)

Let me know if you have any other questions!

cheers Aidan! Think I'll pick up two :)

      • Hi Aidan,

With the SE Asia SIM, the web page shows it works in 18 countries, however in the pdf says it works in 78 countries. Which one is correct?

And regarding activating the SIM, can I pre install and turn data roaming on here in Australia and then just turn it on when arrived in Vietnam? Planning to install these for parents.

        Thanks

        • +1

          Hey noone,

The PDF is incorrect. Just ignore the PDF for now and follow the instructions included in the SIM packaging.

Yes, you can, that's a good idea. All they will need to do is land and it should activate right away. If it doesn't, a simple restart will kick it into gear.

Anyone recommend a deal for travelling in Europe for 55 days including calls to Australia? This one is Europe calls only. Thanks!

    • Hi ShipShapeRC,

I don't have any product recommendations, however, you can use data applications like Viber Out or Skype Out for international calls home. Simply use your data allowance to make calls to international mobiles and landlines.

It's really cheap ($10 for about 200 minutes calls to Oz) and can be a good little hack.

Otherwise, your best bet might be to find something local when you land that includes international calls to Australia.

      Hope that helps!

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind if there is not other suggestions. Cheers.

    • EuroSims..

  • Hi Aidan,
Do you have one sim card that will work in Europe, Switzerland, UK and Dubai that includes at least 10gb of data per month on a prepaid arrangement?

    • Hey ozzie,

Our best selling Europe SIM is perfect for Europe/Switzerland/UK. However, I don't have anything for Dubai for you, unfortunately.

Its 12GB of data per month for only $36.75 AUD.

Let me know if you have any questions :)

      -Aidan

      • What carrier is used? The same one throughout each country?

        • The manufacturer is ThreeUK, but the SIM roams onto local networks outside the UK.

So its the ThreeUK network in the UK and various local networks throughout the rest of Europe. The SIM will connect to the appropriate network seamlessly as you travel between countries.

I can get you the exact carriers it roams to if you give me a list of countries you are going to.

          Hope that helps :)

          -Aidan

          • @SimsDirect: That's fine Aidan. I'll be buying 6 x of them tomorrow. Thanks for your prompt replies. PDF on each sim card option is very informative too btw.

            • @ozzieozzieozzie: Thanks so much ozzie!! Legend!

Just reach out if you need anything from me :)

              -Aidan

              • @SimsDirect: Hi Aidan,

Can we tether on the Europe sim ?. Just confirming that there is no expiry on the sim ?. Going to Europe in July 2019. Thanks

                • +1

                  @Arsi: Hey Arsi,

Yes, you can tether the connection :)

                  No expiry, correct.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

                  -Aidan

      • Do you sell the 5GB SIM from Three UK?

        • Hi Sween,

          We don't unfortunately!

          -Aidan

          • @SimsDirect: Any plans to?

            • +1

@sween64: No plans yet! But it wouldn't be hard. If we do, we will add it as a separate product under the Europe category on our website.

Dubai you have to buy locally, it's not exactly cheap, I normally buy everytime I'm there. Can't remember the price from the top of my head, I'm always in a rush and pay whatever it is.

  • Hi Aiden, I am going to Japan in Nov 2019, should I get the sim card for Japan now? What is the expiry date on them and when is the last date to activate?

    • Hey arctan :)

Yes, you can grab it now. I'm obviously biased but I would jump on this deal. You can hold the SIM all the way until 2020 without it expiring so just hold onto it until you land in Japan.

When you land and activate the SIM it will start the 15 days.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

      Cheers,
      -Aidan

      • What month of 2020? Tempted to get one but not sure if I'll have a Japan holiday this year or next.

        • Hey Strayfire!

Good to see you again :)

The expiry is in March, so you may want to wait until we get newer stock if you aren't sure.

We should have a few deals popping up this year so just keep an eye on us (I know you already do!)

          -Aidan

@SimsDirect: Thanks Aidan. I always look out for you guys.

I just got two NZ SIMs posted to me from you guys.

Amazing speed! Ordered on the 25th, arrived on the 28th. :)

  • Mate, what a perfect sim for our holiday. USA-Europe-Hong Kong over 31 days. 2x 12GB for under $74 Bargain! Thanks OP.

    • No worries!

Thanks for your order madreece :)

      -Aidan

      • I have a memory that you can directly call another person with the same sim card outside of the UK. So if two of you in USA can directly call one another, or am I dreaming?

        • You can do that :) Good memory!

  • Is there any timeframe needed to activate and use this by? I am looking at the europe sim one. I do not travel till May, so that is why asking.

    • Hi kizashi,

No time frame, just hold onto the SIM until you land in Europe and insert it once you land. The SIM will connect and activate automatically.

There is no expiry on the SIM so it can be held until well after May :)

      -Aidan

      • Thanks for quick reply. Another question. What network does it use in greece and does it do Santorini?

        • It uses the Cosmote or Wind Hellas in Greece.

I am not sure about Santorini sorry. Feel like finding out for me ;)

          -Aidan

          • -1

@SimsDirect: Silly question, but when get sim, does it have phone number that can give out before leave aus or does it need to be activated before the mobile is given?

            • @kizashi: Not silly at all! There is a UK mobile number printed on the back of the SIM card :)

              -Aidan

  • Looking for a Japan Sim, but worried that 5gb might not be enough. How much does it cost to top up data, if possible?

The other provider has a 16 days unlimited sim plan for $41, maybe more useful for some.
    https://m.japan-rail-pass.com.au/mobile/services/simcard

    • +3

      Hey victorheaven,

What do you plan on using your device for?

If you are using it for web browsing, google maps, social media, data messaging/calls then 5GB would be perfectly fine.

If you plan to be watching a lot of videos or downloading large files then you should consider a second SIM card.

Unfortunately, the SIM cannot be topped up so you would need to get 2 of them.

You do need to be careful of 'Unlimited' SIM cards in Japan. A lot of them have speed throttling or limitations that aren't addressed upfront to the customer.

For example in the terms and conditions @ japanrailpass you will find this:

"-Network speed of this product is based on the network availability and there is no guarantee to provide any specific network speed. The network speed may decrease depending on the number of connected subscribers."

The SIMs we offer have no data limitations or daily speed caps at all, use the 5GB as you wish.

Something to consider before purchase (I've been stung in the past!)

      Hope that helps :)

      -Aidan

      • Thanks Aiden,

I also noticed that there is a 4GB SE Asia sim card that includes Japan too.

Is there a difference between that and the Japan sim I mentioned, in terms of speed and any other limitations?

        • No difference at all, they both use the same networks and have the same speeds. We just sell that SIM as SEA SIM because of all the SEA countries it works in, its a nice bonus that it works in other Asian countries too :)

          -Aidan

P.S Sorry for the slow response! Didn't see your follow up message!

          • @SimsDirect: Thanks mate, I might grab 2 SE Asia ones then. (got a toddler with us on the trip and we might need YouTube to entertain him sometimes)

            • @victorheaven: Haha fantastic! Thanks for the purchase :)

              • @SimsDirect: Just bought two yesterday, now I'm wondering if the sim card is going to work on mobile wifi dongles?

  • Hey OP,
Heading to Amsterdam for 2 weeks in September 2019.. as above comment I assume it won't expire til 2020? We stop over in Singapore for our flights.. also assume that the Europe Sim card won't work in Singapore?

    Looking to buy 3.

    • Hey jeeft,

Actually, the Europe SIM is included as part of the 71 countries. So you will be able to use your data allowance while in Singapore :)

The SIM will not expire period. Hold onto it as long as you need :)

Let me know if you have any other questions!

      -Aidan

      • Oh wow.. so to confirm the European Sim for 12gb will cover us in Amsterdam (Netherlands) and Singapore?

If so I'm sold! Thanks for the fast response.

        • +1

Yes correct, it works in both :)

  • Hi! Do you have any Vodafone Europe SIMs? Travelling to UK, Italy, Germany and France.

    • Hey jas0nt,

      We do not, unfortunately!

The ThreeUK SIM is all we offer currently.

      -Aidan

  • Hi SimsDirect,

Just bought one of your SE Asia Sim cards for $22.50

A bargain I think, considering it covers Hong Kong and Japan, which I technically don't think falls under SE Asia.

Happy Birthday and looking forward to future sales!'

As a side note - do you know the carriers that this sim uses for HK, Japan, Singapore and Malaysia?

    • Hi John!

Thanks for the kind words :)

It's definitely not apart of SEA haha. We still have some work to do in terms of giving our products the right names but we are working what we have for now!

      Yea no worries:

      HK - China Unicom (4G)
      Japan - SoftBank (4G)
      Singapore -StarHub (4G)
      Malaysia - DiGi (4G)

      Hope that helps :)

      -Aidan

  • Hi Aidan, does it have to be activated by a certain day?

    • Hey Ozbargainlyf,

Which SIM are you interested in?

All the SIMs have the dates that you need to activate by in our product descriptions under 'Things to know'

      Cheers,
      -Aidan

  • Awesome grabbed a USA one for a trip coming up. Used one last year too and worked great. Easy to set up. Highly recommend Aidan and SimsDirect!

    • +1

Awesome to hear! Glad we could help :)

Thanks for the kind words Doo!

      -Aidan

    • Why would you use one of these compared to just getting a tourist sim in the airport?

      • Mainly to have it sorted before you land rather than spending more time at the airport than you need.

Not sure about cost comparisons though.

      • For me, I'm doing a trip to the USA and UK (in that order). I wanted a Three UK sim because it can be used in both countries, but I go to the US first so I can't pick it up at the airport.

  • I've used your japan sim before, it was hassle-free and worked perfectly fine. Two questions; does the japan sim throttle when all data is used or does it become unusable (I want to be able to send messages/use maps even if we go over the data cap)? Does MULTISIM10 stack with this code?

    • Hi cathole,

Great to hear :) The Japan SIM will throttle to 2G speed after the 5GB is up. Honestly, its so slow that its almost impossible to use the net. I would not rely on it.

      MULTISIM does not stack sorry!

      -Aidan

    • It doesn't. Just tried.
How was the reception and speed?

      • Hey bryans, once the 5GB is used up it gets throttled to 256kbps (2G).

      • +1

I was just in Osaka, Kyoto & Tokyo. Never noticed any weak or lost reception, speeds were just around 20-30mbps, pretty much in line with 4G here.

  • Great timing, will pick 1 or 2 up for the US tomorrow!

    • Nice! Thanks krnage :)

Reach out if you need anything!

      -Aidan

  • Hey rep, nice deals! Have you got any sims that are a bit more than 5GBs for 15 days Japan?

    • Hey clint!

Thanks :) Nothing more than 5GB unfortunately, we only have the 1 product at the moment.

      -Aidan

      • Would you be able to tell me which network the sim run off?

        • SoftBank network in Japan :)

  • Good timing, thanks picked up a Europe SIM.

    • Awesome! Thanks for the purchase :)

      -Aidan

  • Is there a USA and Canada that includes calls for both? Or is that not possible? Going to both this year and would like an easy solution! May end up just grabbing the data only then..

    • Hey andyfc,

Nothing yet, but I have something for you very soon! Subscribe to our newsletter and I will be sending out an email when we launch our new USA/Canada SIM with calls/text.

It will likely be a few weeks until we've properly tested it and made sure its good to go so as long as you aren't leaving in the next few weeks I'd just wait it out and keep an eye on us :)

      -Aidan

      • +1

        Oh great, thanks!

      • Will the provider work well in Alaska & Vancouver?

Any discounts for 8 SIMs with 21 day minimum?

        • Hey mathew42,

Yes, the SIM works on AT&T network in Alaska and the Rogers network in Canada.

The discounted price that we are currently offering would be the best I can do for you Mathew!

The SIMs are all preloaded with 30 days so I can't change the duration.

Hope to have you on board though!

Let me know if there is anything else I can help with :)

          -Aidan

          • @SimsDirect: I'd prefer calls plus data. Any guide to the price when you launch?

            • +2

@mathew42: The new SIM will be about $60 RRP, its not cheap for us to get here! But just PM me in a few weeks time on Facebook or email with your Ozbargain name and I will honour a 25% discount at a later date for you :) (if the product is suitable for you)

              -Aidan

              • @SimsDirect: That sounds great. I will be keeping an eye and will send you a message for the discount. Cheers Aidan.

  • Any good 7 days japan sim plan?

    • Hi Hishaken,

We only have the 15-day option currently.

Sorry I can't help you out there!

      -Aidan

    • The SE Asia 4GB 12 days sim should work in Japan. Or try NorthSim - they have a 7 day sim (500MB/day 4G then "unlimited" 3G).

  • Anything for use in South Korea?

    • Hey j2009,

      You have 2 options

Let me know if you have any questions about them!

      -Aidan

      • Is there an expiry date for any of these? I will be travelling dec 19 - jan 2020

        • No issue at all! The expiry dates arent until 03/2020.

          -Aidan

  • I’m travelling to Hawaii in October. Is it too early?
