  • What’s the difference between models?

    • Millenia is their most sold car seat. The platinum has more padding and cushioning. And Premium aesthetics. I think more breathable fabric as well.

Would like to share my experience. it might help someone.

I have 9 months old twins and I bought Britax Safe N Sound Millenia for them. Product is good no doubt about it. Feels very safe. However it is not made for Australian climate. My kids are getting sweat within half an hour drive. It is not bit of a sweat, back of their tops get really wet. Another thing for us is dimensions of it. Pretty bulky. Because I have two of them, they both kills the back seat. No chance for 3rd person.

Otherwise good quality product and safe for sure.

    • Any better alternative?

    • I can confirm that these are very bulky. We have a hatchback (ford focus) so now, it is very cramped if 2 adults will sit at the back. regarding the item being hot, I cannot confirm this as my daughter hasn't much issues on that front

They are bulky due to the safety design.

It is a shame that they take up a bit of space… But id rather my child being safer and taking up more room than not.

They do have a compact version. Called the Britax graphene supposedly as safe as fill sized car seat. But in compact version

          • @sod: I have the Graphene too but that's a Baby Bunting exclusive model. Its the same seat frame as the Millenia but with slightly less padding.

        • Yeah I agree which is why we bought it!

    • I have the Britax Safe N Sound Brava and even though i bought the grey one my kid still gets a sweaty back when sitting in it for a while. That said its a very good product.

nice, thanks OP - just ordered the platinum. for those interested bunting will install for $39 week days and $45 saturdays, apparently have to make an appointment.

    • re install - new parents to be. haven't looked into installation yet. is it difficult? or as easy as reading the manual?

Any person who can follow instructions with a bit of common sense should be able to install these baby seats.

        • It's amusing that the stores try to upsell the service

          • @Supercool: Its amusing the amount of parents that have no idea how to install a seat properly, even on their second + child.

Actually, its not amusing at all, downright scary.

        • think i lost my common sense in the traffic this morning. ok, will rtfm and attempt it myself!

          • +1

@inamberclad: I read instructions and thought I'd installed it perfectly… Then my council had a free installation/checkup.. and I have to say, feels like I didn't everything wrong. Maybe just myy inability to read instructions, but food for thought.

      • super easy 5 min job for me

      • Easy. Britax has YouTube video with step by step instructions on rear and front facing instal

If you have isofix points in your car then it is easy peasy once you've done it a couple of times. The hardest part is usually the central belt clip that you hook up to the the rear shelf of your car (or back of seat if you have a wagon/suv). Each piece you tighten usually has a green or red indicator telling you if you've tightened it enough so you can't really go wrong.

You really should learn to install it yourself. The amounts of times I've had to take them in and out is insane

If your with NRMA or RACV they offer the service for free

I recommend you professionally install it the first time and watch how it's performed. Use YouTube videos from the manufacturers as refreshers.

The biggest issue is people not putting enough OOMPH into it and ensuring the ISO fixings are as tight as possible. Requires bodyweight and a knee jolting in the correct place to apply downwards pressure.

      • I've heard of RACV offering this free service in the past. Are they still doing this? I couldn't find it on the website.
DO you have to have a car insurance policy with them? Or still eligible if we have a home insurance policy?

  • Code doesn't seem to work with the Britax Safe N Sound Platinum Pro SICT in my cart?!

  • Not sure with these models - but we picked up a newie a few weeks ago that has the Bamboo material for cooler feel etc. Our little one is hot as normally - seems MUCH better. Be aware that typically it seems that Bamboo is only on the uppermarket models.

    • All of the models listed above state that they use Thermo5™ Bamboo Fabric.

      • Textiles labelled as being made from bamboo are usually not made by mechanical crushing and retting. They are generally synthetic rayon made from cellulose extracted from bamboo.

  • Has anyone got much experience with the 6month+ models?
Looking at getting one instead of the 0-4yr convertible models as my baby is almost 6months now?
    eg https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Britax-Safe-N-Sound-Maxi-Guard-G…

    • The 6 months to 8 year models are generally not rear facing at all, or only for a short time. The 0 to 4 years models generally allow rear facing until 2 to 3 years of age. Rear facing for as long as possible is considered significantly safer than forward facing in the event of an accident however its ultimately up to the parents to weight up cost, longevity, safety and practicality.

This little rascal is costing me a fortune ;)

  • Anyone buy the nanotex version? Trying to decide between Platinum Pro+ and Platinum Tex. Is stain resistant better over memory foam?

  • out of curiosity, what's the difference with these several hundred dollar seats vs something about $150 at BigW?

    • +3

Build, padding, lifespan (before having to move to forward facing), features like isofix.
Depends on what you can afford vs how much value you place on your newborns life if it ever came down to needing protection in an accident?

Personally we bought the millenia after months of researching, trips to the stores, trialling etc.
Have been extremely happy with the two we bought (one for each car).

We figured there are things to can save on like tshirts from kmart for $3 over $20 ones from Seed when they'll just outgrow them in a month, but anything to do with safety we spent whatever was needed.

  • Does anyone know how these seats compare to the Safe n Sound seat found in BiG W? I have seen a Cabrini that is on sale for $159. No doubt these ones are better, but for the same brand, suits a new born to 4 years, it seems like a pretty good deal.
