    great post. Cheers!

Travel needs to be between 1-31 March 2019 (as stated in the title and description).

    • +4

      March is not april.

It is a new scheme from sing air for ladt minute or spontaneous redemption, so it will only be 2 weeks before the month.

    • for March I mean

      • You might need to play around with dates and flights. Some flights were showing the normal rate for me while others had the discount.

      • +1

You need to choose saver fares, and discount will be applied then.

  • Great deal, but hard to travel last minute like this. I usually plan travelling at least 6 months in advance :(.

    • +9

Join the club, having kids sucks

      • -2

Indeed. Try having one in grade 12 that just jagged the school captain gig, thereby totally screwing my me-me-me self-centred travel plans for the entire year. How very dare she..! :-D

    • Just 6 months? I have to plan for 1 year ahead.

  • I can't find any business class @ economy rates. Did anyone have any luck, if so what dates / destination?

    • +3

Still plenty of availability from what I can see. Make sure you're selecting your flight with the radio button under the Saver rates — the discount will then show under Booking Summary.

      • got it, works now!

      • can you please upload a screen shot of this radio button you are talking about. many thanks. i can't seem to find much luck with adelaide onward flight

        • +1

Ex-ADL for a random date in March: https://imgur.com/a/bvmIvLY

The radio button is clicked and is in orange. You'll see the discount is applied in the Booking Summary in the top right-hand corner.

          • @[Deactivated]: thanks a lot, i was hoping the initial number of miles will changed, rather than the booking summary

            • @Diesmile: "expecting" rather than "hoping"

              • @Fexofenadine: hmmm what am i doing wrong

looking at melb to singapre in march return

keep on getting 124k points, for all flights for business class

  • where can I earn KrisFlyer Miles?

    • can I transfer qantas points to KrisFlyer Miles?

      • No. You can with Velocity (Virgin) points.

        • 1.55 velocity to 1 Krisflyer

    • +2

Amex, Platinum edge is best. 3 points per $1 spend at supermarkets, 2 points per $1 spend at major fuel outlets and 1 point for everything else with the exception of Telstra and gov agencies…..0.5

Transfer from ascent rewards to Krisflyer.

Currently when you transfer from ascent to KF it is 1 for 1

Note that there is a devaluation in April, then the transfer rate is 2 to 1 KF

      • It sounds like those who aren't in the system are kinda too late to really take advantage of this, then?

How much will 3 points (soon ~1.5 points) with AMEX be worth in $? I want to compare it against 5% off gift cards.

Saw it Saturday night, requested leave and got approved in the morning, then immediately booked SYD-SIN return Biz Saver flights for 2 people, estimated to pay 112,000 points and 344 in taxes.

Great way to use some points before Amex devalues in April. If successful, it will be my first biz class flight ever, and it could be redeem more than 8c per point!

Note, for Krisflyer Redemption, you do not need any miles to make the booking. You can find the flight first, call them and have it booked over the phone (Confirm or Waitlist), wait out the waitlist, and only pay once all journeys are confirmed.

I booked mine in the morning and paid nothing, account has 0 miles. Departing journey is on Waitlist but Returning is already Confirmed(but left unpaid).

Now just waiting till the end of Feb (when booking period is ending), and only if all flights are confirmed, then I transfer from Amex to Krisflyer, and pay, risk-free. Otherwise, cancel all bookings for free, and wait for the next trip.

    • Game changer! How long does the Amex kk transfer take?

      • Never done it yet personally, but heard it's about 1-2 biz days.

      • less than 24 hours although Amex says longer

    • When does the wait list become confirmed?

      • Was told, if no Confirmation SMS/Email was received 14 days before departure, it's likely you're not gonna get it.
And you only need to pay after the confirmation. So just wait for it, but make sure to book before Feb ends.

        • So nothing is confirmed, sounds like airline staff travel, I want to travel March 1st so may not be able to do the transfer in time

          • @UberIsCool: If you have a fixed date you need to fly, then better buy and pay with cash, it's certain.

We're going for holidays, and we don't mind going one day or two early or later, or not going at all. haha.

Would be great it we made it though

            • +2

@jacktator: Yeah I hope you do! I’ve flown J a few times and it’s bliss

    • +1

da shen, please receive my knees.

    • I called them this morning and they classified a booking over the phone to be offline and said they would charge an extra $25USD. Did you incur this extra cost?

      • That's wired, no extra charge for me.

      • +6

I called in again, they mentioned the fee as well. Here's the thing. You can reserve the seat first with 0 down payment, and only when you are ready to pay, then they charge you the $25 USD. And offline booking is not part of the promotion.

I've found and reserved two available return seats, and now transferred Amex MR to Krisflyer. The offline reservation is to ensure I have seats, when I need them. You can make as many reservation as you want for free, and wait to see which one works out the best. It's like insurance, but free.

Once miles arrives in KrisFlyer account, I'll cancel the offline reservation (via web page), those seats will be instantly released (tested), and I'll book it using points, online, using the promo.

    • Correction: Phone booking does not participate in the promotion! Online Booking only!

    • I just called to make the booking and after spending 20 minutes the guy said I have make online booking if I want to use "KrisFlyer Spontaneous Escape". The booking will attract full miles if I proceed with him. I am not sure if it is true or I got a lemon.

      • True, but you can still reserve over phone and cancel online when you are ready to book

        • thank you so much.

  • Can’t see any for my dates which is a shame

    • +1

They were available until word got out on ozb

  • +1

Its a bit annoying there are no specials from Canberra. Can go to Sydney and fly through Canberra on SQ288 far cheaper than starting from Canberra.

  • Just canceled my current booking, waiting for points be refund.

    • Same how long does it take?

      • +1

When I asked about it bit earlier says within 7 days
When I rang again to ask to cancel(error msg when I tried myself) says will try within 24 hours
Actually took less than 1 hour, already re-booked.

  • Just went to log in and found my membership has expired. Any sign up promos for KK going at the moment? I think I got 1000 points for just signing up last time.

Also, do Singapore Air have any flights/ code share to the US?

    Cheers

    • None I could find

  • +2

Is it me or do QFF flights charge way more in tax? Just tried SYD-SIN and it's 55k (return, economy)points + $340 tax.

    • +4

Yeah Qantas charges one of the highest for taxes.

    • +1

Fuel surcharges are the likely reason. KrisFlyer eliminated them for redemptions on SQ flights back in 2017.

  • 20,000 + $84.40 one way business class from Perth to Singapore, if anyone from Perth is interested

  • is it me or is all of sydney to singapore 56k for the economy saver?

Nevermind found some! Now I just need 5k in krisflyer points, how can I get some quick?

    • +1

Assuming you have AMEX Plat Edge, buy 5k AMEX MR points and transfer to Krisflyer at 1:1. Will cost you $125 (1000MR = $25)

      • +1

Better go & spend $1700 at big supermarket to get the $5k pts

      • That's actually not too bad considering its about $200 bucks to buy those points from virgin/singapore airlines.

  • -1

Clicked business saver fares from Mel-Sin and they were full price, 124,000 each return + tax. Would be great to go for a long weekend.

    • Ensure you are selecting one of the eligible flight numbers (eg. MEL>SIN:SQ218,SQ228 SIN>MEL:SQ217,SQ227,SQ237)

  • Sent all my amex points to velocity fml

    • You can send Velocity points to KrisFlyer.

      • +1

Bit too late devaluation already started better off transferring from Amex before April 2019

        • still not too bad even at the rate os 1.55
Love Singapore Air and .Krisflyer! Amazing value and great business class product on A 350

          • @PaperplaneXXX: Agree, even at the devaluation. Singapore air has to have the best product out there. Its leaps and bounds ahead of Qantas for example

  • Are these redemption flight deals from Singapore airlines pretty rare?

    • I believe they will now happen every month.

  • Transfered my points, made some calls and then went to book in for a 3 day trip. Seats gone. Rookie error.

  • Awesome deal, too bad I can't personally take advantage of it.

  • Can’t find any business class discounted fares?? Depart Sydney.

  • Thanks OP, took advantage of this for a family member from Per - SG.

  • Thanks OP, booked SYD-SIN return for 2 on Business for 112,000 points + taxes. First time going business, so bloody excited! Countdown begins

  • Looking to fly PER to SIN on 7/3, but not currently a krisflyer member. Does anyone know if there is any way I could get the points quick enough? Anywhere to buy points are trade qantas points for krisflyer?
Have >350k qff points but no business class availability on the dates I need to fly.

  • So… does this promotion actually apply to travel dates outside of March? If I search dates in December etc, I seem to also see 50% off. Or am I doing it wrong..

    • Example of route and date?

      • Sorry, I was mistaken. I got confused by the booking process and I still am not sure of how this works.

So if you choose a route and it shows 56k miles for each direction of a return flight, once you pick an outbound and inbound flight the total ends up being 56k? Why does it not add them together?

        • +1

They show the total of the return flight in each leg.

  • anyone get the ticket? I was still on the waitlist. The flight I booked is departure the day after. Anyone know when they will confirm the flight?

    • Chances are you won't get it. Good luck though

      • do you know normally what is the chance to get the tickets?

        • Not sure, waitlisting is a bit like lottery.

You can try calling them though.

  • +1

April deals are up: 30% off this time, but only SQ288 Sydney via Canberra to Singapore is included ex Oz. https://www.singaporeair.com/en_UK/sg/plan-travel/promotions…
