  • Time to pricematch at bunnings

    • All my local Bunnings are showing "special order" - so YMMV

  • Doesn't look like they come with a remote. Cost much more for installation without remote.

    • Remote here

    • Why does it cost much more for installation without remote?

      • I think Jklaro is trying to say if you dont have the remote, you have to get an electrician to wire up the wall plate with speed control instead. I usually get both remote and wall plate but I guess remote only makes sense when trying to save cash.

        • Sure but if you don't want a remote it's cheaper. He said it costs much more for installation without a remote which is wrong.

          • @Maverick-au: The extra cost of the remote might negate the extra cost of wiring in the wall plate. I guess it depends how the electrician charges.

    • Not really. The leccy has to wire the fan somehow, the cheapest option is via a light switch. All you'll need is a new twin (2 gang) wall plate (fan controller + light switch) for a non-remote fan. IIRC it took the 'leccy very little extra time to wire it with the controller.

We got a hunter installed about 3-4 years ago, and now the thing spins so slowly on the lowest speed that you'd probably get more air blowing it

    • See here
A dead capacitor/s is very common and easy to fix if you or someone you know can use a soldering iron.

      • Same again for myself, replaced the capacitor and you getanother 3 -4 years. Just replaced a 10yr old 1400mm span one last month as it was starting to vibrate / swing a bit wilder on the higher settings.

I have smaller 1200mm span in the bedrooms and they are still going well after 10yr..might be just the bigger fans with the issues ?

  • Anyone else have got a ceiling fan such as these as I am wanting to install at least a couple in my house. Would love some more feedback.

I brought 2 Intercept II without light and 1 With Light - Approx 2 Years ago. Mounted by Me and used a Electrician for wiring (No Remote)

My Thoughts - If your using the light from fan to light up room - Not bright enough

    I don't recommend these for bedrooms - Fan>
    1. Motor is noisy
    2. air movement is noisy
    3. the harmonics from electric grid is louder than our cheapo ceiling fan.
    4. Timber blades are warping

I would never buy Intercept II again -
I cannot comment on the other fans.

I have heard the DC motors do not suffer from Off peak Power line noise (Or what ever it is called)

    Cheers

Pretty sure there was a post on here a while ago where someone mentioned they were fan installers and listed brands they would recommend. Been trying to find it, but no luck

  • Thanks OP, been looking for a replacement for a noisy fan. Leccy recommended Hunter Pacific.

FYI the Revolution 2 is on the Choice recommended list at 84%. And a 90% bedroom score. Looks like a real bargain, if black is your thing.

  • Saw that Aldi has their ceiling fans on reduced price now. Down to 59 (I think….)

  • Bunnings buy these fans from Crestwinds. They didn't have stock but they placed the order & price beat as well.

  • Is this company reliable? They only have the hunter pacific fans…

  • I had some Mercator DC fans installed. Super quiet, 6 speed, low profile with remote. Very happy with them.
