  • Same as here ? Dirt 4 & you can't add it to your cart or check store stock

  • Was just about to post this!

    • +1

      Sorry mate.

  • +31

I instantly judge anyone who hasn't played TW3 yet. Definitely was one of the best games to be released in recent times. If I had known what I was getting into I would have paid $200, for $10 it's an absolute steal. The game is not for everyone because there's a lot of talking and I know some people don't play games for that but I still urge those people to give it a try. It's a real hit or miss but if it hits you then you will never forget about it.

    • +8

Hands down the greatest game of the modern era.

    • +21

Honestly the biggest roadblock for me is seeing everyone talk about how long the game is, like nonchalantly mentioning that the main game took them 3 or 4 hundred hours, nevermind the DLC.
As I've gotten older with less free time and more commitments I have an inverse appreciation of what I value in games compared to my youth, and I tend to gravitate toward the smaller bitesized experiences that don't completely put a halt to my backlog or keep me stuck with one thing for months on end.

It just seems very daunting, especially when you're already knee deep in enough RPG backlog =(

      • +8

It's really not that long, I don't know where you heard those numbers. 300-400 for a single playthrough is simply NOT possible (there just isn't that much content) unless you intentionally make it last that long. Realistically, a playthrough of the game + expansions should set you 100 hours unless you are a player who takes their time with everything. It all depends on what kind of player you are.

        • +3

Agreed. I bought this in 2015 at launch… Never had time to play it. Recently made time for it - completed the game and the 2 expansions at 74 hours. While I didn't complete even a 1/3 of the side quests, I can hands down say The Witcher 3 is by far the best game I have ever played. The story is so fulfilling, especially Blood & Wine expansion.

          • +4

@[Deactivated]: Do a second playthrough but this time do all quests and if you can, aim for different outcomes in them. I found the second playthrough to be just as entertaining as the first one because a lot of quests had different outcomes.

            • @Ostrk: I played it for hundreds of hours, but cannot return to it after not saving before the Tesham Mutna part of the story in Blood and Wine. It sucks and I can’t win; wish I could, as I want to finish the story and complete the last handful of side quests in the game I haven’t yet done!

            • @Ostrk: Great idea! Might have to do this until Cyberpunk 2077 comes out.

              • +1

@[Deactivated]: Yeah a lot of different outcomes especially in Blood And Wine where the ending sequence can be a completely different path so in your second playthrough you could get quite a lot of unseen content.

        • Well that sounds much more palatable. Yeah I dunno I've literally seen more than a few people on forums say they clocked in at around 300hrs or so, Perhaps it was an exaggeration or they did just explore every single nook and cranny.

          • @Stoibs: No it likely was not an exaggeration. It's possible to spend that much time and more on the game, however, not by playing it at a normal pace since there simply isn't enough content for that otherwise. You'd have to spend an hour doing a quest that was intended for 30m etc.

      • +1

Indeed, if the game is non linear, has unique controls, crafting, requires umpteen hours etc, then an extended period of not playing makes it easy to forget these critical things so can become prohibitively difficult to resume.

      • +1

Trying for every trophy will set you back many hours, its hands down a fantastic game and should be played by all, the DLC's alone are huge. If you play one RPG this century, make it the GOTY TW3

      • I finished it in 30 hours unfortunately I raced through it, want to play again taking my time with it but just have found time to start again

      • +1

Took me about 100 hrs for base game and then came back a couple months later and did 50 for both DLC. I did a pretty thorough job but not full completionist.
Its on par with Skyrim + both DLC.

      • +2

I am in the same boat as you. 1-2 hours a night, late, once all life is out of the way.

But why not give it 20 hours? It is the best single player experience on any console/PC. Better than Portal 2, Half Life, Bioshocks, Gods of war, GTAs, Red Deads, Uncharted, LOU, Tomb raiders, Zelda's etc etc). I have been playing for 20 years and it is No 1 for Story telling RPGs. Best of all it gets better and better. So if you give it 20 hours and you are enjoying it, you will just not stop playing it and won't regret it. Even with a massive pile of shame stack of other games building on your shelf.

        • I do intend to pick it up eventually. I'd want a PC version if anything though.
I just know for a fact I won't play it just yet right now because of so much other stuff I've already started or that is still on my backlog (I grabbed Persona 5 several months ago when it was listed here in that amazing deal and haven't gotten around to that yet..)
If it ever gets this price on steam or Gog then I'll probably grab it without a second thought.

      • The biggest roadblock you're facing is that misrepresented gametime. Look here: https://howlongtobeat.com/game.php?id=10270

If you're getting older with less free time, then this is one of the experiences you should have, because it's truly worth your time.

It's daunting at first, but worth it? Hell yeah. Please go play it!

      • +1

Couldn't agree more. With a busy job and two young kids, I just don't have time for these big games anymore. Currently playing God of War (which is amazing), can only do this when everyone else is in bed. No more 3 AM gaming sessions, the kids wake up at 5:30 AM.

I hope Sony will one day introduce a new portable device, as I have a 2 hour train commute every day. Perfect for these kind of games! The Switch comes close but ironically the Nintendo games I find more suitable for a quick gaming session (Zelda excluded).

        • Hhave you tried skyrim or stardew valley for switch? sounds like they might be what you're looking for.

      • +1

Tell me about it. My attention span is much shorter than it used to be. Once the game feels like a slog I generally lose interest.
A side note, I'm a big fan of difficult playthroughs so I usually put games on the "hard" or "very hard" setting by default. I beat the starting area on hard but I wouldn't advise it TW3. It didn't seem to feel rewarding-challenging, just tiring. If you're time-poor like myself I'd strongly advise playing through in normal.

      • +1

I finished the main game twice (once doing EVERY SINGLE THING in the game), each expansion once FULLY (did endings few times to see difference) got 100% achievements and was about 250hours after all that lol

I understand where you are coming from, I did all that over 14 Months and was definitely worth it!

    • +1

      I haven't played it.

I'm waiting for the GOTY edition on PC for $10. I'm just a tightarse.

      • +1

I hope your name checks out or I will have to get my judging glasses. I hope you find the way of the gods and buy this game.

    • I got the platinum trophy for it.

    • The time came for me to crack the seal on this recently.

At a guess I'm about 1/3 of the way through the story.

      Steam playtime is 107 hours.

I never thought I'd be yearning for a round of Gwent, but there you go….

      • +1

I wish I had your attitude when gaming. My first playthrough took 100 hours lol and that was with HOS and BAW.

    • +4

Instantly judge anyone who hasn't played it, but the game is not for everyone. Ok.

      • I meant anyone who has never played it and gave it at least a try.

    • I was playing bloodborne when this game came out. I gave into the hype and tried it out only to be put off by the awful combat. It didn't take long. Once you're used to the tight combat and controls of that game, it's extremely hard to go to something similar. Judge me?

      • You have played this game, I said I will judge anyone who hasn't played it :P

        • Has everyone in your family played the game? How many times have you played the game from start to finish?

    • +1

Best Game Ever Made. (As You Can See in My Avatar)

    • Just a pro-tip about the GOTY version - if you already played Witcher 3 and get this to play the expansions, you won't be able to use your pre-existing save for the GOTY version. You can play the expansions separately or start a new GOTY game but not follow through your original game file. If this applies to you might be worth getting the expansions separately from PSN store. [This happened to me…]

    • I couldn't stand the boring and repetitive combat.

Attack three times then dodge roll x infinity.

    • I've got the platinum trophy and all DLC trophies for TW3.

It was worth it. Especially Hearts of Stone.

  • A million times yes

  • +2

Anyone in Sydney able to find a game in stock?

  • +1

Hmm no stock nearby and delivery not available.

Hope Amazon price match and I’ll get either JB or EB Games to match that.

    • Will they match the sale price?

      • Guess it's unlikely since they haven't done it by now. Stock levels/availability would've factored into their reasons to match or not.

  • +3

    Witcher stores?

  • +2

FFXII Zodiac age is worth it. Remastered for PS4

    Out of stock already lol

  • +2

I can't find any stock of anything.

  • +3

No stock of tw3 in any bigw near my place (according to bigw website)

  • $ 249 Psvr without the camera worth it? Actually kinda just want it ATM for ace combat

    • +4

It's definitely been cheaper with a camera and game recently. I'll wait, I think it was 229 with the Camera and one or two games at Christmas.

      • thanks a lot guys i'll hold off for now

    • +2

No. The one pictured is also version 1. Version two has holes on the round bits on either end.

  • Will Amazon match?

  • +3

    No stock of anything

  • How many Witcher 3 were in stock? Sold out already?

  • +1

Called all my local stores and all said haven't had a copy of Witcher 3 in since before Christmas.

    • +1

Just called mine too. They actually said it's on clearance because there was nostock LOL

      • Yeah all the ones near me haven't ordered any more since the pre christmas sale where they also never had stock. Come to think of it, they've never had stock for any of their good deals. I think they just pretend to drum up some foot traffic.

  • +1

I recommend, ANYONE who has not played this game, and loves RPG/Adventure - to play this game.

There has not been a game close to this one in terms of greatness.

    • +1

Too bad they don't have in stock or I would buy the darn thing!

    • I would love to but no stock

  • +2

The Witcher 3 is not in stock….

  • So, Amazon, price match already!

    • no. unless you see, post a link here

  • no stock of witcher in ACT

  • Any of these titles Switch? I can't see anything relating to what platform.. only the store link for the one

    • All ps4

      • chibot did you manage to find one?

        • Sorry mate, I don't play games. Just saw and posted it.

  • +2

Sadly no Big W stock… Thanks to EB Games for price matching!

    • EB price matched when BigW website said no stock?

      • +1

I just showed the site, she scrolled up and down to verify it was live and got me a sealed copy..

        • Which store if you don't mind me asking?

I'll try my nearby JB at lunch and see, but they do check stock levels from memory.

edit - No JB's have it in stock in Victoria so there goes that idea.

  • +2

I live in the NT my friend, no one checks anything here!

  • +1

I hate these Big W deals. Never available online, there is one store in inner Syndey, and it never has stock (and isn't particularly nearby).

  • +1

Tried to price match here in Western Australia with three Ebgames all refused said it's clearance price and way too low to match. I think they decided to go this way since Target price drop. Couldn't argue as I can't see any stock available in whole WA Bigw stores.

  • I've been searching around the central coast since this morning as well. All the the EB's have been really helpful and friendly and are perfectly ok to match it, but every one I spoke to had to verify that it was in stock at Big W first. So it's a no-go for me. Shame, I've been really keen to add this to my pile of must play games.

  • +2

Scored a copy of Witcher 3 GOTY wtih EB price match. Thanks OP!

    • Good on ya! Wish I was as lucky as you and @ThePriceMatchGuy. :)

      • Sorry mate, wished you had the same luck. They didn't check Big W stock. She just honoured it and I think I got their last copy. I did have to hunt for it though.

        • +1

          All good. Enjoy!

  • thanks bigw. this is like the equivalent of giving away free blowjobs. but when a guy comes to collect on this you say…sorry i dont blow guys.

  • 10$ W3? Got excited for a second and then saw PS4 :(

  • +1

Thanks chibot and other posters ThePriceMatchGuy/hoctothep who suggested a price match at EB.

Scored a copy of Witcher 3 (GOTY) for $10 at EB.

  • +1

Awesome cheers! Price matched at EB games dfo Brisbane. No calling - just checked the deal on my phone.

Been meaning to get into this game but pumped so many hours into fallout 4 and skyrim i didnt want to embark on another long game…

  • Checked my local, no stock

  • No stock in Illawarra/Southern Highlands.

  • No stock in any Big W's in Perth. I could only find Destiny 2 for $10 and that was free on PS+ a little while ago anyway.

  • I tried price matching at EB Forest Hill. They refused as there's no Big W in the centre.

EB Waverley Gardens also refused as no Big Ws had it in stock.

  • None at QV (Melbourne CBD).

At JB Bourke St, they did have Destiny 2 collector's edition (PS4) as part of the "2 for $40 promo".

  • The Witcher 3 GOTY PS4 and Final Fantasy XII PS4 for $10 each is an absolute steal!
