[PS4, XB1] Overwatch: Origins Edition - $10 @ Target

720

Sorry for crummy photo, only had my Nokia on me, got the price, date, and game in picture, figured they were the most important parts of it anyway.

As per title, Overwatch: Origins Edition is 10 bucks at Target, nationwide. Decent price for a decent game, supposedly anyway, I've never played it. Game trades in for 19 dollars base value at EB, (22.80 if level 4) which makes it eligible for the Far Cry deal (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/434520), meaning you could get the new Far Cry with these deals together for 21 dollars total, not too shabby.

Even if you don't do Far Cry, you stand to double your money pretty much if you decide you don't like the game, and if you do like the game, you got a game you like for cheap. Win win either way.

Sorry, game is no longer listed on website to link, only the fancier, more expensive, edition.

Fantastic game - until RDR2 came out it was all I played for 2 straight years. It's in a bit of a weird position at the moment where new features have dried up and the community is seeming to fracture - but this year there will be changes made that should breathe new life into the game. We don't know anything about what's coming, but the development has been so stagnant that it must point to something along the lines of a full expansion.

If you're a new player none of this will matter. I recently moved from Playstation to PC and haven't looked back. $10 is a steal

We don't know anything about what's coming, but the development has been so stagnant that it must point to something along the lines of a full expansion.

Activision just fired 800 people from Blizzard after the CEOs awarded themselves millions of dollars and claimed they had the most profitable year ever.

      • +1

They fired people from non-development roles like Marketing, Publishing, eSports, Community Management, etc. They have actually put more developers onto the Diablo & Call of Duty teams

        • I would think that they would need them more than ever after the bad rep theyve earned themselves.

        • +1

So they can focus on Diablo Mobile. LOLOLOL

          • @Munki: It’s funny because it’s true. 😬

            • @cnut: Sad state of affairs over at Blizzard.

I mean, is it too much to ask for a Warcraft IV?

              • @Munki: I know, right!

We should probably suffix that with “…on PC not mobile, please.”

                • @cnut: But, don't you have a phone? XD

                  • @Munki: Haha! 😂

All jokes aside, I’m kind of glad there isn’t a proper Diablo coming out. I get to not spend hundreds of hours hooked on it and instead I can do something else with my life. Lol

                    • @cnut: But remastered WC3…!

                      • @Munki: OK that I would play the shit out of.

                        • @cnut: Yeah. I'm unfortunately going to be suckered into buying that. I'm imagining a DoTA on the new platform though…

                          • @Munki: I hope they stay true to the original. I haven’t played a good real time strategy game in a while.

Speaking of remakes, the latest Resident Evil 2 remake is pretty sweet. Digging that.

                            • @cnut: From what I can see, they don't look like they've changed the mechanics of it.

Oh I've been meaning to get RE2. Good to hear things have been mostly positive about it.

                              • @Munki: Totally worth grabbing. Plays really well.

      • Wrong - they had their highest revenue in history, not profits. Consider that they expect this to drop this year as well due to not having big releases slated and you can see why they pulled 8% of their staff from non development roles and actually hired 20% more people to make games. This isn't something new in big business - they're just moving money around to where it's more profitable to do so.

        • I’m all for more devs! Not saying you don’t need marketing people or community managers or whatever. But they can be removed without much impact to the game.

  • Wonder if this has anything to do with OW potentially going free to play

    • The current Overwatch Edition is still $79 at Target. This is just clearing out old stock.

    • Don't think that's likely, the game seems to be doing fine as is. It has dropped in popularity but not enough to warrant a F2P switch. Fallout 76 on the other hand…

  • +2

Got over 500 hours on this bad boy on PC

    • I heard they increased the resolution outside recently. Added new textures on trees and stuff. Worth checking out when you get the chance.

  • +2

Metal Gear Survive is $20 at Target now.

Also, Stardew Valley is $10 and trades just above $10 at EB.

    • You make a fair point. Just Cause 3 and PUBG are also 10 bucks, I'd have made a post for all their 10 buck games, but my locals have long since sold out of them all (actually, Ringwood did have one PUBG leftover), in fact, I picked up their last Stardew a couple weeks back.

    • So you’re saying I could get 100 copies and trade enough to get one at full price at EB for free?

  • BEST. GAME. EVER. PERIOD.

    • +2

I wouldn't go as far as to say that, but it's a pretty good game at a pretty good price.

    • -3

Right because full price games that feature free-to-play grind mechanics designed to entrap people with gambling addictions are just the best game ever period.

All mobile games are also the best game ever period then!

      • +4

You know those are just cosmetics, right? I really don't play for those. It's the competitiveness of the game that requires 6 in a team to communicate and play together that makes me rate it the best game ever.

      • +1

What are you grinding for though? You don't unlock skills or buffs.

        • Aside from grinding for gold guns and lootboxes for comsetic items, what you are truly playing for is to get better, to experience the unrivaled thrill and satisfaction of coming together as a team and wreaking havoc for the enemy team.

        • Yeah all mostly cosmetics nothing that affects raw gameplay. But the emotes and highlights and skins are good imho.

        • Why should you need buffs? That's not how this game works. I don't grind, I keep coming back for the love of it

      • Took a while to scroll and find someone with this point of view. This game is specifically designed to suck people in and get them hooked.

Don’t bother telling the addicts this though, because they’re too entrapped to notice how much time they’re wasting with it, repeating the same shit over and over again no different to a gambler at the pokies.

  • +1

Great game but can be very toxic. Especially given how easy it is to smurf on console.

Anyway, still a bargain so yeah, cheers op.

  • Correct me if I’m wrong, the difference between each edition is the quantity of cosmetic-filled loot boxes and skins, right?

    • -1

      Correct

    • The Game of the Year Edition has everything from the Origins edition, but also has 10 loot boxes for Overwatch.

      • So is it Game of the year > origins > standard?

        • +1

          GOTY > Legendary > Origins

  • How's the Australian servers on ps4?

Battlefield 1 servers are just empty. Max 1 or 2 servers have players.

    • On pc it’s basically me and 11 other Australian guys playing quick play after midnight. Forget about any of the arcade modes. Daytime you can join any mode on pc. People like to play Overwatch while high, I’ve noticed.

      • Ps4?

        • PS4 has a lot of players, unless you play late at night or are a high rank in competitive, diamond/low masters is a long wait.

          • +1

@GTR12: I'm in low gold, easy to find players any time of day, 10am or 10pm.

            • -1

@Ameowzon: So you didn't read what I wrote and just typed a reply.

  • Anyone know what any of Targets clearance items like Titanfall 2 and other games trade in for at EB?

  • I hope Amazon price matches fingers crossed

  • Is there any PvE modes in this game or is it still PvP?

    • Only some events.

  • +2

That Apex is so hot right now. Overwatch seems to be feeling the heat.

    • +1

Can't stand Battle Royale games. Walk and hunt for minutes. Die in seconds. Only Battle Royale game I play is Tetris 99!

      • +1

Although fun, I don't have the patience for battle royale.

      • +1

then you'd probably like Apex, your teammates can revive you… as long as they don't fully die

      • Tell me more about this Tetris 99.. been looking for a good Tetris game since Tetrinet.

        Bonus points if Android possible.

        • @NintendoAmerica

The iconic puzzle game #Tetris arrives, but with an online experience like no other–99 players enter, but only one reigns supreme! #Tetris99 is available to download now, exclusively for #NintendoSwitchOnline Members.

      • It only it were available on PC…

        • Or mobile.

          • @AlienC: Tetris on mobile isn't as good. Need some tactile buttons.

  • Probs for not showing disgusting finger(nails) in photo.

  • Is there any single player in this? I don't have PS plus

    • Not that I remember (haven't played this game in months) You could play with bots but…they're bots. This game is really fun though.

    • Nope PS+ required.

  • This has been around for months. However, all the stores in Sydney that had "limited stock" didn't end up having any and hadn't seen any for a long time.

Figured there mustn't have been much left.
Try to price match at JB.

  • Does this game have single player?

    • No, it's multiplayer only so you'll also need access to the online multiplayer of whichever platform you're using (Xbox Live Gold etc.)

    • No
