30% off Century Car Batteries (All Models) @ Supercheap Auto

240

Century car batteries 30% off at SCA for 3 days, pretty much as low as they would go. Was a pleasant surprise for me today, as I was going to buy the battery today anyway.

for those who have Costco Membership, I would highly recommend to compare prices there, the batteries there are significantly cheaper at everyday price, and during their "-25% off on batteries" sales are just cheap :)

    • I'm hanging for the next 25% off sale!! Hoping my battery will keep kicking along until then.

Anything is better then a Century battery. And their warranty is useless as they just blame your vehicle.

      Any reason?
There are so many things that can affect battery life (especially how it's used, maintained & charged). All warranties generally only cover manufacturing defects.

I've been using (bought on sale) Century batteries for many years in several vehicles - without any problems except failing over a year after warranty expired😉

The Century I have used in my Corolla was quite weak for holding charge after 2-3 years from purchase. Roughly 20-30 minutes on listening to the radio on low volume, the car wouldn't start. I didn't have that issue on the OEM battery even 4.5 years after the purchase. And to think I changed the OEM at 4.5 years out of precaution thinking it's close to its end of life and I better not wait until it conks. I moved to Supercharge Gold since, which is still new and I can't really compare it to the Century.
Anyway, the before discount Century prices seem a bit inflated. I paid the same price for non discounted Supercharge equivalent.

    • What size battery did you get? How many amp hours and CCA?

      • It was the corolla size. 490 cca.

  • This are good prices for a good battery, and still made in Australia.
My original OEM battery lasted 4 years, the second (RACQ branded) lasted 6 years 10 months, and my current Century has been in for 3 years 6 months and is still working as expected. I only use the battery to start the car, and don't run any accessories whilst the engine is off.

  • Never had problems with Century batteries before, hopefully this one will be no different. I guess the battery life depends on use. Lead-acid car batteries live longest if kept fully charged. As a rule of thumb, one full discharge reduces such battery life by half a year. The cars are so different, I once had an Astra, that drained the battery fully when car was parked for a week or two. Other cars drain a lot slower, but I usually connect a small solar charger when I think the car will not be used for a week or over. So far all batteries of various brands I had were serving 5 to 7 years.

Considering between Century Hi Performance vs SuperCharge Gold. Any idea which one is generally better?

Heard a lot of good things about SuperCharge.

      Supercharge

proper installation is important for battery life. I had a couple of batteries die prematurely due to poor quality battery terminals (they were corroded) and vibration (not secured down tight enough).

  • OP are you sure it is ALL Models? If so can you please direct me to where it says that? I am trying to order one of the batteries but they are saying it is a "Special Order" battery and the deal only applies to Store Stock.

I didn't write "All models" - this was added by mods. Clearly not Special order items.

  • Pity it's not off the Deep cycle ones.

My brothers car battery died today so this was some good timing.

But something I learnt today, with normal car batteries the normal Century batteries have 2 years warranty, and 3 years for the Ultra High Performance ones. BUT for SUV batteries, it is 2 years for both models. Makes no sense.

Went to the store.. no signage , about it all.. it was on though after checking with the dude at the store.. but they didnt have my model (mazda 3) and needed to order it in and it would be full price.. not happy

    • +3

Poor form, you wouldn't think a battery for a Mazda 3 would be a special order.

    • Should of got one similar size, doesn't need to be exactly for Mazda 3 as long as terminals are the same, any will do. Something over 450cca not under

There plenty of space in the battery tray, I know with my Mazda 3 BL, I can go much wider and a little taller
