      Mate, I just spent $13k for a lawnmower. :(

        wha wha whaaa !!

        • +1

To be fair, I think $12.5k was the cup holder.

      • $5k gets you a robot to mow your lawn, up to 5000m2

        • 5000m2… I'll need an army of robots :(

      • You purchased a Honda again didn't you?

        • Funny. That's actually the make and the price of my first motorcycle but no, it is a Husqvarna with a Kawasaki engine.

          • @[Deactivated]: Funny how huski realises that kawasaki makes better motors ;)

            • @J5: I think they have Kohler too.

Buy nice or buy twice, so no Kohler for me.

Expensive for a set of pruners, but the other fiskars tools I've bought are some of my favorite tools - well made, easy to use and comfortable.

    • Just wait till you see the price of the hedge trimmers… close to 100 bux!!

    • -2

Wait until you see how much they cost to sharpen

      • These? Open them up. Run the stone flat over the flat part of the blade till it runs smooth. Occasionally run it over the anvil as well if you have snipped through the vine support wire….

        • +3

I have no clue about garden shears but for single bevel knives and kitchen shears, never run the stones (except ultra fine for deburring) on the flat sides. We always follow the edge bevel otherwise the scissors may no longer sit flush when assembled.

@[Deactivated]: The people who had been pruning grape vines for 40 years and the trainers employed by the company taught exactly what I said. The "wear" on secateurs is a folding of the edge over the "back" or flat side. Stoning this away resets the edge. In another 25 years I may need to have the bevel properly dressed on a large slow stone, but I've been using my pair of Sandviks [ an earlier company that merged with Fiskar, whose secateurs Fiskar now sell under their own brand] for that long now and they are fine. The only thing that gives then trouble is dried Prunus cerasifera sucker canes, which would give a hacksaw angst. As it is, these are designed for green wood.

When I worked on boning tables and cutting floors we also treated our knives differently.

            • @terrys: Fair enough. Stones = stock removal to me but I guess it could be for honing too which is what you described.

I forget that some cutters are not high carbon steel :P

              • @[Deactivated]: It is pretty much that, a hone to take off the burrs formed on the back of the blade, which prevent the cutting coming off clean. They are defiantly HCS.

  • Hi OP, if you seen any good bypass cutters (longer ones), can you pls post it here, my trees are growing too fast.

  • Ahh cr&^% - I just bought this two weeks ago :(

buy another one and return it with your old receipt

  • Good price, but you can't go wrong with Felco Secatures. I've got the Felco 2, and I should have that for life.

These are awesome pruners, their mechanical advantage means you can cut through MUCH thicker branches than you think. They also stay sharp and rust free. My set have been going strong for half a decade now and they get left outside all the time.

  • +3

Fiskers are expensive but every time I've bought 1 of their tools I've had 0 regrets.

The lopper cuts through branches effortlessly.

  • Brillant!! Also can trim fingernails too.

      and fingers

come on Xiaomi… make a copy…. with Bluetooth

  • made in china or made in Finland?

  • Have the medium ones. Used them today, very good.

  • 25 years warranty……

  • I have fiskars extendable pole pruners and they SUCK. About every four hours the Nyloc nut falls off, usually in the middle of a boganvillea, ie: irrecoverable. I'm on my third one under warranty.

Maybe I could use loctite but I figure it's a design defect they should fix. There's no way it should come off with so little use.

The pole on mine snapped at the bottom.

There really must be nothing worth posting lately

    • +1

Yes, we are all waiting for you.

      • I dont have a shop

    • If you look around you’ll find Leggo sauce half price figure that

  • I have a similar pair but the little clip that keeps them closed has broken.
