My high pressure washers Both petrol and my friends mid-high range Electric 'Gerni' struggle at removing some things that my fingers can rub off, the foam helps remove spots, and moderate amounts of dirt, so you don't need to wipe it unless there's bird poop or heavy dirt/brake dust stains, which means it has a less chance of causing swirls and scratches, but I always end up with too much brake dust and end up wiping it down.
- It looks really cool :D.
TLDR: Foam is good for a quick wash, but not a proper detailed clean. Oh and make sure you try it off a high pressure unit.
Yeah agreed there, my car is ceramic coated too but its still not the replacement for a proper wash.
However it does a great job on my ceramic coated wheels (snow foam + pressure wash off).
Yup a citrus prewash does way better but everybody loves how snow foam looks and it looks even better on instagram hence the popularity :D
I got this deal last Boxing day via SCA sales. Went to pick up and the sales mentioned that the foam lance are all the same "Generic" and they re-branded. I did compare the Meguiars one with the SCA tool pro one and construction was identical except for 2 extra attachments.
Is this cheaper than when it was 40% trying to remember
Don't bother with foaming - literally throwing money down the drain.
Yeah that's my experience. Only good for this. https://youtu.be/5WjYj1QtVIg
Now you have convinced me to get a snow foam :)
The model doesn't come with this deal though.
i bought generic from aliexpress for like 20-25 dollars seems to work fine. Just get the ones with metal fittings and postage is slow.
Sounds like most don't understand the purpose of foaming a vehicle. It's not meant to entirely clean the car. The idea is that it agitates and loosens the dirt which you then blast off.
With that gone, you wash the car as normal without the majority of that crap getting caught in the sponge/mitt and marring the paint.
To be fair, the product page says it replaces a proper car wash.
It doesn't though
False advertising
Agreed, I use the Bowdens setup instead which are very clear that its a pre-wash to reduce swirling and such.
Ive gotten my car clean, but only from a few days of dirt (plus ceramic coated) but thats not common.
I hadn't seen that. That is indeed rubbish though……no way it'll replace a car wash. Sure, it'll look a little better than it did previously…..that's about it though.
Could you not simply do it with a high pressure hose which you would do anyway when you pre rinse car. Would probably agitate and loosen the dirt. In some instances right off with the pressure. Yes foam does it, but for dollar value is it worth the time and money. You have to rinse car anyway.
Always pre-rinse any car you're washing in any method, but the foam in a foam cannon takes off far more then just the pressure washer alone.
Anyone used these with a ryobi (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/414221)
Iirc last time I was looking at this cannon I couldn't find clear details around what adapters support particular models, so it put me off buying it (compared to say bowdens which clearly specifies supported adapters).
Thanks OP. Also bought two more 1.9l Gold Class for $30 each, with microfibre sponge, from Supercheap Auto. search link
Watched this YouTube video recently, about exterior car detailing, which I thought was fairly extensive. search link
By the way, I used Shopback, and I'll be getting $4 back, so ultimately, this will cost $75.96. Slightly higher discount with CashRewards but I prefer ShopBack.
I prefer to stay agnostic to encourage competition, but like most things in this digital age and especially in Australia, a cozy duopoly emerges.
Good points.
have a ebay one for $21 delivered.watched a few youtube vids before I made the decision.works great,no complaints.looks identical to this one
Which one ?
it's been too long that I can not click into my ebay record of this sale anymore.if you search foam lance, just look for the identical one,I think they are all from same factory.in the youtube vids the op fills the bottle with half soap,I only fill about a quarter, still plenty of foam, haven't even tried mor soap yet.for $21.99 delivered I have nothing bad to say, brass fitting, feels solid .
my pressure washer has a bottle attachment which seems to do the same / similar thing?
also in my experience hand wash is still required after foaming - as mentioned this is likely good to …assist… power washing (which i suspect does much of the work) but handwash still required.
cant imagine any true ozbargainer getting this kit over the $25ish ebay ones hahaha
literally does that same job, just get the 4L autoglym polar blast when its on sale, along with a pressure washer, and your set for 1 year of foamingTo all the people who think this will replace the normal wash, you will be disappointed as this is a PREWASH, you still need to rinse and dry the car like you normally do, this is not the lazy car wash method
If you think its a waste of $ and effort, and you might as well skip this and save money, tbh this is only for OCD or enthusiasts who do everything they can to avoid swirls, not time
Was just going to say the SCA has the same deal, but this is good with the extra carwash. Plus free delivery.
Having said that though. I've never really been convinced about snow foaming car. Have used a cheaper foamer not off a high pressure unit. I don't think it actually removed any more dirt prewash. So then you might as well skip it. The foam is not cheap either. The car detail washers and videos go on about it. Suppose it would remove some dirt particles before you hand wash it to avoid scratches, but couldn't you do that with high pressure water.
