          • @Shads: Because they care only about profit.

The masses know nothing of these small situations and in 6 months time, who would really care??
Probably the 300 or so customers that got burnt, but that's a blip on the radar for TGG.

For me, I'm done with TGG and JB Hifi, but once again, we are small fry compared to the big business that will keep rolling in their doors.

  • No cancellation email, ebay marked as posted, no tracking number. Still hasn't arrived. Bit concerning its been in the post this long and they supposedly just slap a sticker on the Xbone box (isn't that dangerous for a product like this?). Hopefully it arrives Monday but I'm honestly not holding my breath.

    • Received mine this afternoon in Brisbane. Guess the store was too quick with postage. Also got the $20 voucher which I've used. I ordered mine about 10 Min after the deal was posted.

      Take the small wins.

      • In this case you are the small win.

    • My electronic receipt from the store had a tracking number, worked with Australia Post tracking.

  • I haven't received my refund yet but I noticed that I never received an email from PayPal for making the payment to TGG. It shows in the activity that the payment was made though. Anyone else experience this?

    • +1

no with this purchase, but sometimes I don't get emails from paypal.

  • So I ordered mine via eBay paid using PayPal and got the email saying they will not progress with the order and issue me refund…..am I now suppose to ask them via eBay for a refund or something coz why is it taking this long? Anyone in the same position?

    • I’m in the same position but never got the email.

  • +4

I'm thinking they aren't refunding or cancelling orders so we get fed up and cancel them ourselves and avoid the mass auction cancellation on their behalf and keep their eBay account in the good. Jerks! I'm holding

    • Yep, and they want people to use the $20 coupon as acceptance of compensation.

  • So has anyone successfully claimed a $37.90 voucher off eBay support, or just a 10% off code?

    • +2

Yes. I got my refund and now have $37.90 voucher valid one month. You need to get refund first before eBay can generate the voucher for you

      • +1

My coupon is for one week only. Weird.

      • Cool, I just got mine, also valid for one month. Not too bad of an outcome in the end I guess, still disappointed to have missed this as was keen to upgrade my One S.

  • +6

Does anyone know how long ACCC takes to investigate complaints? I hope they cop a massive fine in excess of the loss they would have worn if they had fulfilled all the orders. Have been checking PayPal acct everyday, still no refund.

  • +7

I'd prefer the refund to not arrive before the 4/2 as that's the day I can open an item not received dispute.

I know I'll eventually get my refund but, I want TGG to pay the ebay fee/commission for this sale so there is no way I'm cancelling it from my end.

    • +3

Same, never cancelled an ebay order not going to start now for these scumbags and alley cats.

    • -5

Sorry to disappoint you, it doesn't work that way. You will simply be wasting your time and some support staff's time. The end result will be:

      • You get your refund later.
      • That dispute, if you were to raise it, ended up being near perfect for TGG. They will simply refund it and the case will close completely (you won't be able to dispute it anymore).
      • Any full refund for an feeBay transaction, no matter how late, will result in complete final value fee refund to the seller (feeBay cannot charge a FVF if a sale falls apart - no seller would agree to such rubbish). PayPal charge a small electronic transaction processing fee for every cancellation (paid by the seller - even in the case where seller is not at fault, but in this case, the seller is so they won't get away with tat).

The system has been around for years. Don't try to think you can outsmart it. Get your refund back a.s.a.p. and get some compensation. It is still your $341.10 (even if you paid by credit card, it is in your best interest to have the refund back a.s.a.p).

You guys should try walking into a Good Guys and seeing if they'll let you pick it up.

I went into mine before to grab something with that 20 buck voucher, and showed them my eBay saying it hadn't yet been sent and asked if they could run it through here in store to save them on the delivery cost and me on the time waiting. Took like 10 minutes but the guy ran it through in the end, and gave me the console no problems.

Either they never actually started the refund process (which they said they did), or if I'm super lucky I might get it for free, though I doubt that.

Edit: My eBay order hasn't disappeared yet though, so if your's has, you may be SOL, but if your's is still saying it's yet to be shipped, could be worth a go.

    • +1

I rang my local store to see if I can pick it up, they asked for my order number but from the confirmation email from eBay and the transaction details in my PayPal account, there isn't any order number except for a transaction number and a item number, which one were they after or not either of them?

      • I don't know, my dude.

When he walked off to go ask about it, I gave the dude my phone. I'm assuming he didn't rummage through my emails, hopefully anyway, but I guess whatever he grabbed was something you can find on eBay directly? I'm looking at the order details now and it has an item number, could be that? Sorry I'm not more help, dude. I wasn't gonna make the guy think I'm suss by asking too many questions or anything is all. I basically tried to act casual and the second I was out the door ran with the thing.

        • Happy for you, at least some people benefited :D

      • +1

Normally TGG ask for the Paypal reference ID which is in the ebay email when your item is ready to collect. Its one of the things they write on sheet with your ID.

    • Well done! That's a great outcome. :)

    • +2

Can you tell me which store you go to ask for pick up? Thank you

  • +2

Is anyone still waiting for the refund after being told that it will be cancelled?

    • Me. After what TheDukeOfNukem mentioned above, I might even try my luck and head in-store to see if they will process.

      • Good luck with that. I rang two stores both said nothing in their system so can't do anything about it so asked me to call their head office 1300 number to ask why it hasn't been sent.

      • tried 3 store all no stock

    • still waiting. I can create the "I didn't receive my item" dispute tonight.

      • I will probably do the same.

      • hmmm when I click "I didn't receive my item" I get taken to a page that says "Your item is on its way" with this to follow…

"It looks like the item is on its way and should arrive by 05 Feb, 2019. If you don't receive it by then, please contact the seller or come back to us so we can help you."

        I haven't received any tracking either :\

        • I did the same, have to live chat them

    • i think we all are
i sent them a message via ebay asking what was going on and they sent me some copy paste answer.

im of the mind that they are stalling because if we cancel the order they dont get the negative repercussions from ebay.

I am hoping they have to bite the bullet and cancel them today and ebay restricts their account

    • I'm still waiting. Even called head office about the refund and they just blamed eBay and PayPal for the delay in receiving funds. Doesn't seem to matter that I purchased directly through The Good Guys site and didn't use PayPal.

Since they won't give me my money, I tried to get the order processed in store—no luck with that either.

  • Yep no refund received and no item. Bought with eBay gift cards. To be delivered through eBay.

  • My refund still hasn’t come through either despite them saying on Friday it would be in my account by the end of the day.

  • +1

No refund, no update. WTF is happening?

    • Try walk by and collect it.

      • They ask a order number.

    • Yeah same boat as me. I've not had a single bit of communication from them. I was hoping I'd slipped through the net, but it looks like they are just after my money and have no intention of sending anything out…

  • Called some local stores, basically told me no or to call the Essendon warehouse. They told me it was with their legal team. No refund either.

    • +5

Legal team? Smells like lies. If you're cancelling, refund everyone, if you're sending, send to everyone. Seems they just wanted hold of some money for a bit. Maybe starting up Fyre Festival 2.0…

  • I just chatted with ebay and they opened a case against them for unreceived goods and in the same breath processed my refund. I would have rather seen it out in the hopes they cave in and send xbones but I have tapped out my brothers.

    • I just did the same. CSR was aware of the item and 'price error' issue. Not as lucky as you as they gave 3 days to TGG to refund.

CSR said that 'a defect will be recorded on the seller's account.' but I really doubt it.

      • +1

TGG are a F.. joke. They asked to close the dispute and allow 5 days for the refund.

        I, of course, said no.

    • Urgh. I am close to tapping out. I held out such hope…

    • Did the same thing, 3 days for TGG to refund but they also gave me a code for $37.90 credit.

    • Mine said it "may" be on the way still. Thanks for leaving me hope ebay lol. Well played TGG, basically force me to request a refund either way don't you.

  • I just used $20 TGG code to order something online, it says error, then the credit has gone. order did not go through. I have to contact thegoodguys again.

    • +5

      lol

    • What did you use it on? Anything worthwhile? I saw the $20 powerbank but got enough of those.

      • Weber 3sides bbq brush which is 19.95.

    • Hopefully they cancelled the $20 voucher because they sought legal advice and the lawyer is an ozbargain lurker who told them to ship them out before they get sued for the difference, interest, missed ozbargain deals, and our time…

    • For some reasons, TGG has locked my credit, then I called, credit has been unlocked. I use the TTG $20 to buy a Weber bbq brush. then I have received 37.90 voucher from eBay (bought a 2nd hand XBOX). Also got another $10 off (min spend $20) as a loyal customer. Happy ending I suppose.

  • Got mine in the mail today and it has something loose moving around inside the console. Sounds like a light piece of plastic… Powered it on and it works fine. Not sure if it's worth returning or not considering it's a pricing error and they probably weren't meant to honour the one I got. This deal seems cursed lol.

    • +2

It's definitely worth returning. If you have any concerns about TGG kidnapping your console, it's highly unlikely now that the transaction has been completed (consideration paid & item delivered). If you are really paranoid, raise a warranty claim with Microsoft direct. It means you will need to send them the console and be without one for a few weeks. Albeit cheap, you have still paid for it and deserve a properly working console.

      • Warranty claim directly to Microsoft is best.

  • +1

I received a full refund on Friday, and just received an email from Good Guys this morning saying my Xbox has been posted (along with the tracking number). What do I do?

Is anyone else in the same boat as me, i.e. having received a full refund and getting a console sent to them? I want to tell Good Guys that they have made a mistake, but I don't want them to demand I pay them retail price for the console they are sending me (or ask me to return the console to them). I want to keep the console and only pay them the original $341.

    • +2

Wait till it arrives and dont tell them anything, they probably deserve it after all the disappointment caused.

But if you are really feeling the need to pay then im sure they would comply to charge you only what you agreed to pay in the first place. Cant see how they could demand full price.

    • +5

      Keep the Xbox.
      Keep the refund.
Most of us, 7 days later, have neither.
      These a*holes deserve it.

    • Received my refund this morning. Here’s hoping they Still send mine by some miracle too!

      • Did you buy thr eBay or TGG website?

  • TGG asking me to close the dispute and wait 3-5 days for a refund, apparently they can't apply a refund while its open… nice try lmao.

    • They also said that they canceled the order a few days ago. Which is a lie.

The wanted to refund without cancel it. Such a dishonest way to handle it

    • Ha ha they are dogs, I regret having mine closed out

    • They said this to me also. I already knew not to close it and this was also advised by ebay CS.

    • looks like they applied the refund.

  • Suppose this was what you guys received? Maybe even same people??

Hi, Thank you for your message. We can confirm your order was cancelled. A refund was scheduled and requested to be processed. However, as you have raised a case with eBay, this will delay you receiving your refund as we cannot process refunds while there is an active case. We recommend the closure of your dispute, and allowing 3-5 business days for a refund to be reflected and processed. Kind regards, -Atticus "

Not going to close either. eBay CSR said to contact eBay again if refund is not received by 8/2.

    • Yes - exactly. Atticus is the king of cut and paste.

It didn't delay my refund at all.

    • yeah got the same reply, I pretty much told him the case is staying open until a refund is processed and if not completed by the 8th then eBay will handle it.

    • Got my refund, unbelievably fast lol…

Good news! We let the seller know you didn't receive the item, and the seller issued you a full refund. This request is now closed.

      Refund information:
A full refund of AU $389.12 was issued on 05 Feb, 2019. The refund includes the purchase price plus original postage and was issued to the same payment method you used to pay for the item.

      • yeah got my refund not long ago, so much for "we cannot process refunds while there is an active case"

    • My dispute is still open. I just received a refund. Atticus is a dishonest turkey, like the company he works for.

      • my dispute closed automatically after received a refund 5m ago.

Atticus is a dishonest turkey, like the company he works for.

        agree

  • So I purchased mine from TGG website, got the cancellation email and still no refund. Paid with PayPal.
Do I need to raise a complaint with PayPal? Or are they waiting for me to cancel my order?
Filed a complaint with ACCC last Thurs so not sure if that has something to do with it
    Any advice?

    • If you already gave up the hope then raise it with PayPal. I did both eBay and PayPal.

      • And…….. Just got a refund 😞

    • Yup here comes the main wave of refund me feels. (so yeah me too)

  • They just refunded my paypal but now I have an umpaid item in my order history!

Did they not do a proper order cancellation?

What do you do in this situation?

    • They just refunded my paypal but now I have an umpaid item in my order history!

Thats why i created the dispute last night

Did they not do a proper order cancellation?

No they didn’t. You can contact them and ask them to cancel it. I doubt that they do it

What do you do in this situation?

If you contact ebay they will say that i doesn’t matter

      • I think you're right.

If I select "I didn't receive this item" option I get "Sorry, we can't open a case for this issue".

Have the Good Bad Guys pulled a shifty to get out of some payment/cost associated with canceling a transaction properly?

    • Yep, but what can you do. Short of going into bat with ACCC only thing left to do is contact ebay and get your compensation.

Thought it was just a 10% off voucher (dime a dozen) but its a voucher for the discount amount from the transaction which is a lot better imo.

      • no point in contacting accc - they brush everyone off and only do what the pollies tell them 2.

now ebay compensation sounds interesting please enlighten us all…

        • Ebay compensation is just the 10% coupon or voucher amount that myself and others (see other comments) have received when we've complained about the transaction to ebay.

          • @Osiris: hope everyone complains to ebay now and gets that money at least…thanks

  • Last Wednesday I received the eBay email saying it’s on it’s way with ETA tomorrow. Today I received 5 emails from PayPal regarding the refund plus an email from the local store who supposedly had sent it to say they’re refunding me. Seems dodgy that they were able to lie and say it was on its way, I would’ve preferred them to just contact me sooner than make me wait. Oh well, never expected it to go through. I was in the first batch too.

    • have you received the $20 voucher?

    • Nope, no word on any gift card

  • +3

    Received refund like everyone else.
So these crooks took our money and held onto it that long.

  • I got the email from Paypal that they were giving a refund but no money has shown in my account yet and they sent the same email 5 times from Paypal saying it was refunded at different times.

    • me too I paid by GC and contacted ebay support they told me the refunded gift card is linked to my account

    • Still money has not shown in my account and they sent me 5 emails from Paypal saying it was refunded.

    • +1

If you paid using a credit card linked to your PayPal it usually takes 24-48 hours.

  • +1

I was refunded by the sale is still in my purchase history. What would happen if I tried to pay for it again in a few days?

  • Still haven't received a refund, no corro from PayPal, TGG or eBay.

eBay still says coming Tue Feb 5, with no tracking.

    Crickets from TGG.

So I went on eBay chat, and they are opening a dispute against TGG for me. Like it's going to do anything, but hey… where's my money man?!

    • +3

You will soon get a message from the A man at the(notso)goodguys asking you to close the dispute or it will delay the refund process, you will then reply say no way I am closing it then you will get your refund within 5 minutes and your case will be closed automatically.

      That's what's going to happen next ;)
