        • did you receive cancellation email?

          • @RichardF89: No. I received a shipped email yesterday (automated) and another one this morn. Then it turned up today.

            • @baratta: wow that's very lucky. So I'm guessing you didn't get a paypal refund email? haha

    • What time and day did you order?

      • 9:22 PM on the Tuesday night. First batch. Paid with PayPal (no gift cards)

    • +15

Don't feel bad for posting. At least you're not the person bragging about purchasing 8+ yesterday. Congrats on managing to get one!

      • Ta, but I do feel bad for all my fellow OBs.

      • $160 goodguys credit tho whoever bought 8

        • They would only get 1 goodguys $20 voucher because they bought them all under the 1 ebay account?

          • @slosh: if different account $350 each otherwise only one $50 off…

            oh well…whatever..was not me…he he

        • +2

That person actually purchased and received 8+ the day after the deal was posted. They rang around some stores and picked them up - apparently for 'friends'. It's mentioned somewhere in this thread.

          edit: page 6

    • -1

Mine just arrived too, thanks OP!

    • Ebay status updated to sent and yet to receive any cancellation email but it hasn't arrived yet. Order was fulfilled at around 8-9am so I'm guessing stores didn't get notice to stop dispatch until a bit later.

  • i just got a refund…did not even got any cancellation email

    • Is the refund for $387.50 or $349.60?

  • says $349.60 and remaining voucher

    • Yeah mine says "The Good Guys has just sent you a full refund of $387.50 AUD for your purchase"

At the bottom it says Refund PayPal balance: $349.60 AUD Refund Coupon #: $37.90 AUD
So I'm guessing we get $37.90 in our pockets for the trouble?

      • +2

Nope, have had these refunds before, you don't get anything. Need to contact eBay support. Keen to see whether people receive $37.90 credit or just another 10% off code.

        • This is correct. Contact eBay support and request another 10% off voucher and they will comply… but only after TGG have given you a refund / or Feb 4 passes and you raise a dispute.

        • where do we find the credit

        • That's weird? I logged into my paypal account and can see the refund stating Refund total +$387.50.

          • +2

@slosh: The coupon is refunded (which doesn't magically convert to real PayPal credits). Basically, you paid $387.50 (but part of it was through a feeBay voucher). Think of it as the feeBay voucher is refunded to feeBay.

If you actually got more back, then your PayPal balance would have a + $37.90 AUD balance (so if you had 0 balance before, and you believe you are $37.90 better off, your balance should now read $37.90). I've requested return and refund of a purchase before, the voucher was lost (rather than magically converted into PayPal credits).

            • @netsurfer: True, just weird how this ebay rep said this:
"Alright I've checked the refund in your PayPal account and the voucher that you used was already refunded and converted into cash. That's why the full amount that was refunded is a total of AUD 387.50"

      • No, the $38 is taken back eBay.
        Edit: Ninja'd

  • was in need of a powerbank. purchased one which was on clearance for $20 using store credit…so basically free

now hoping for the Xbone X to turn up tommorrow

  • +1

I'm yet to receive a refund. I received a cancellation email last night, ordered in the second batch.

    • +1

Same scenario here. Asked eBay chat and they told me to stay put and ignore their email. Supposedly they're obligated to honour the sale but I call bullshit on that one.

      Guess time will tell.

  • +3

I ordered in the second batch as well. Feeling pretty let down. I bought the Xbox gold at Jb hi fi buy 3 months, get 3 months extra and also kingdom hearts 3. Now they are both pretty useless.. Will try to get a refund back for those two

Have lodged a complaint with ebay and ACCC

  • Has anyone got either the Xbox or cancellation who bought directly from TGG website?

I'm asking because since receiving the order confirmation email from TGG at around 10:30pm two nights ago, I haven't received anything yet…

    Crossing my fingers still…

    • yeah, i placed an order via their website at 8am yesterday & received a cancellation email at around 7pm.

No refund or delivery yet though :/

    • Check your promotions folder in gmail if you use that. Mine was there, a cancellation email with $20 voucher.

The refund itself still hasn't been processed, they still have my money. But I got the email.

    • Thanks.
Got the cancellation email with $20 voucher.
      Bummer.
      Haven't got the refund yet.

  • +1

So, out of this whole thing in a summery:

Ordered Xbox —> Frantically reading ozbargain about what is happening for everyone involved —> Get an email from the goodguys with the $20 voucher —> Frantically reading ozbargain about what is happening for everyone involved —> Getting annoyed with the whole situation (even though I didn't need an xbox, its the principal right?) —> Getting in touch with ebay and having a stern chat about how disciplining the seller doesn't help me, and managed to get a $38 voucher as compensation.

As feedback for the whole ebay chat, to get the $38 just keep going back and forth about what they do for the buyer and the $38 which gets refunded to paypal which is no longer there, you'll get there eventually. If they offer you the 10% voucher reinstated just say you're back to the exact same scenario prior to buying the xbox which doesn't help you at all

So in the end I got no xbox but a $20 good guys voucher and a $38 ebay voucher can't complain

    • +2

Many other people also purchased additional items like Xbox Live Gold subscriptions & games ect to use with their discounted console that they are no longer receiving & then there are people that purchased discounted gift cards to get a better bargain only to be told they can’t get their console or money back & will only receive another gift card for a store they probably don’t want to waste their time with anymore.

    • Have you been refunded the money yet? I asked last night and they said they had to wait for the refund to initiate

  • Anyone who manages to get the $37.90 credit instead of 10% code, it would be helpful if you could post your chat transcript here so we can also try.

    • Hi, it shouldn't be hard to get an Ebay coupon for $37.90 with one month expiry. It's standard ebay procedure to provide a coupon for the discount value when a purchase has been cancelled and refunded to the buyer. I prefer to ring ebay on 1800 322 928.

Received an email from TGG saying they will be cancelling per the T&Cs on their website. Contacted through eBay saying that I'm not willing to cancel the order like others on here have done. Received a message on eBay today where they once again cite THEIR T&Cs on their eBay page as a reason for why they're allowed to cancel. You can't claim pricing error once you've accepted payment, re-stocked several times and even shipped some of the orders. It's not our fault that they use a bot to re-stock.

    • Did you reply?

      • +1

That I did. Said I'm not willing to cancel again and that they've honoured some orders with the "price error".

  • +1

how could they said that it was a price error, from $379 then out of stock then price jumped to $649 then they restock and the price went back down to $379 again..Thats when i decided to make the purchase at around 11.xx am yest, its total BS…like many of you, i also received the email about the $20 credit but not the actual refund as yet, although i paid with ebay gc…

  • +8

If I receive mine by some miracle I will sell it at same price to someone.

I just picked up a XBOX ONE X for $250 in Target. Was ticketed price for $250 so they had to give it to me after calling head office. Scanned as full price but ticket price wins.

They also had a PS4 VR set with $200 on the box but I did not take that.

  • Okay so all of yesterday and today, I've been sending The Good Guys multiple messages through their websites contact method and I've heard nothing. Have yet to get a response about anything at all, this is starting to really piss me off. They don't have a phone number so this is the only method of communication less I write a letter and send it through the post. Has anyone had any luck getting TGG to talk to them outside of eBay?

    • I had same issue before. Their website doesn't have head office number. Only can call each store. They are to slow to answer email. It took them a week to reply one email.

    • +1

Hi mate, I found this contact number through my Paypal transaction if it helps you : +61 1300466348

    • 1300368509

  • I’ve still not heard anything good or bad and bought at about 9pm two days ago on eBay…

  • I purchased mine in the first batch and I haven't received a cancellation email or refund. What does this mean?

EDIT: Nevermind, I found the email in my junk folder…go figure.

  • +1

Still waiting for my gift card to be refunded

  • Be great if they processed my refund already. At least Kogan did within a day.

    • Agreed. It should not take this long.

Just noticed it has disappeared from my orders list. Still able to see the order via the email confirmation though. No refund yet.

  • +6

    ACCC complaint lodged

  • +1

I've still not heard anything on this, not cancelled, or dispatched. Anyone else in the same boat?

    • +1

Same. Got told it will be cancelled with the email but the purchase still in PAID status.

      Checked PayPal nothing updated either.

I am hoping this is a sign they are dealing with eBay and ACCC so temporary holding it off :D

      • I didn’t even get the email?

        • Have you checked the spam/junk folder?

Otherwise you might be another lucky one :D

      • +1

I got the cancel email but it still shows as paid in Ebay and no refund yet.

And now Ebay sent me an email like they trolling "We Hope you are enjoying your new Xbox one X from Goodguys, sell your old console and receive $25 bonus voucher" lol

    • +1

Order is still in my list as “PAID” status.

      These guys suck.

  • +2

What TGG had are 300 negative feedbacks on eBay, and bad reviews on other websites.
Could those reviews turn into positive or neutral if TGG shipped those orders? I don’t think so.

Now, TGG is giving $20 (Only worth $10 as there is no much you can buy from them as its price is usually higher than market price). And got eBay and ACCC involved.

Really a bad PR, TGG would get about 40k saved. Not sure if it is worth.

  • This my correspondence with TGG on eBay:

    Me:
Hello, I received an email from The Good Guys saying that this item was cancelled due to a pricing error, image attached. However I don’t accept this cancellation, according to an online forum, multiple other purchasers have already picked their Xbox up using click and collect, having purchased it for the same price, so it isn’t fair that I miss out when the price was honoured for some customers. I’m happy to wait for more stock if you don’t currently have any, but I would like the purchase to be honoured and I do not accept cancellation.
    Kind Regards,

    TGG:
    Thank you for your message,

As per the terms and conditions listed on our eBay site, this was an error listed on our site and we reserve the right to revoke any stated offer and to correct any errors.
As this was a genuine pricing error, please accept the $20 store credit which can be used on The Good Guys website or in-store.
Please allow 3-5 business days for a full refund to be reflected.

    Me:
    Thanks for your reply.
I understand it may have been a pricing error, but considering multiple other buyers were able to pay the advertised price and use click and collect in store, it seems unfair that their purchases were honoured, but mine and others weren’t?

    TGG:
Unfortunately we were not able to place a hold on all of these orders,
Only a select few orders were submitted and dispatched for those who had placed the order prior to us correcting the pricing error. As stated previously, we will not be able to proceed with your order.

    Me:
But I made my order prior to you correcting the pricing error?

    TGG:
Unfortunately The Good Guys will not be able to fulfil your purchase.
Please allow 3-5 business days for a refund to be reflected.

    Me:
How can you claim a price error and not fulfil my order once you’ve accepted payment, re-stocked several times and even shipped and fulfilled others orders who purchased under the same circumstances?

    TGG:
Unfortunately we were not able to place a hold on all of these orders,
Only a select few orders were submitted and dispatched for those who had placed the order prior to us correcting the pricing error. As stated previously, we will not be able to proceed with your order.

    End of correspondence.

… I mean, I’m pretty sure just about everyone places their orders before they corrected the price… so that excuse is completely ridiculous.

Seems they are sick of it and just copy-paste- send now, as I have just received another email exactly the same as the last of yours.

      • Negative feedback time & ACCC complaint

  • So mine actually just got delivered. Like someone else posted, was just the retail box wrapped in paper.

I did notice a white envelope stuck to the paper though, and opened it up to find a download code for Forza Horizon 4, so I'm pretty happy, although I do feel bad for all the people who had their orders cancelled.

    • Interesting - no Forza H4 code stuck to my delivery. Was the code in with the tax invoice?

    • Mind me asking did you receive a cancellation email? and what was the last status on your eBay ?

      • Never received a cancellation email, and my eBay status was updated to sent long after the cancellation emails had gone out to others.

Based on my experience I think it was down to a couple of things if you got one or not, whether or not your local store that handled the delivery had stock, and how early they took care of their online orders. I'm guessing I was just very lucky.

    • Checking with my store to see if FH4 was meant to be in the parcel. Would you mind telling me which store sent you the code and how it was affixed to the paper? Was it a white envelope stuck to the outside? I only had the tax invoice.

      • PM'd you with the store.

Yes, it was just a big white envelope stuck to the outside of the paper wrapping the parcel.

        • Brilliant - thanks

  • +3

Out of interest, please upvote this comment if you had a one delivered via eBay, and ignore if you didn't. Will be interesting to see how many were shipped.

  • My bank acc just shows the goodguys has taken the money -$287 and still no refund on the cash or gift card!!

Edit all g apparently sorted… yesterday was the first cancellation date so will have to wait till next wed-friday to get my money back :(

  • +6
  • just got my paypal refund.

    • Still waiting mine. Did they cancel and then refund?

      • Just issued a full refund. Bizarre though; I've received 3 separate emails from PayPal saying they've refunded me haha

  • Also just received my refund for $389.12, so they refunded the value of the PIXIES coupon too.

    • Click details on the paypal refund

    • I just got my refund now, if you check the paypal transaction, you will see a breakdown and there is a voucher code for $37.90

    • FYI - you only get a refund for the portion you paid for. You do not get the value of the PIXIES discount unless you speak to Ebay and request a coupon for the value.

  • Here is my update and need fellow Ozbargainers advice to how to go about it. I received refund mail yesterday and from Pyapal today. After receiving the refund mail yesterday, I checked to see if it was showing in purchase history. It was there but instead was showing, "You committed to buy this item, pay now". Then I had a chat with ebay and she said it happened because GG didn't follow ebay's cancellation procedure. She said she will escalate and blah blah. Then after I proceeded to pay, but it wasn't allowing me to use "PIXIES", so used "PUSH5" and payment was successful. Now the status turned to "You paid for this item and seller needs to post" and on my account purchases summary page it changed to "Partly refunded". I received order confirmation mail from ebay as well.

Today I received a mail from Paypal and was about buy something else from ebay. Then there is another Xbox sitting my shopping cart!! That too @ $379 + 8.50 !! and "Pixies" is available to use again. So what you guys suggest? Shall I pay for this again or have a chat with ebay or Good Guys? Complain to ACCC? Please suggest.

    • I think you made a mess. TGG is not going to send anything.

Just like I thought They aren’t cancelling, they are leaving it there so you will have to start the cancel process or it will expire. Dodgy practices

      • Mate, I didn't make a mess because I am a user and I am just following the instructions shown on screen. If I did't pay then it would be a remark in my purchase history. If anything mess in this, it caused by GG for not following ebay standard cancellation procedure and by ebay for letting GG to cancel at their will.

        • +2

I know what you meant. You did the right thing, but it is a mess because tthey wont send it. They will refund yet again.

Several cancellations will look bad and thats why they aren’t canceling. Dodgy practices

          • @snvl: They caused so much mess so it is better to push them a little more.

            • @Nokia 808: You really have too much time to waste. Sure, TGG made so many mistakes and were slow and unprofessional, but if you already knew it is a pricing error, don't keep on dragging yourself into the mess (even if it just to have a bit of fun). At the end of the day, you will be simply making some TGG support staff's life tedious and that staff is probably innocent in all this mess.

Have you received the $20 voucher? You planning to try to get feeBay support to get you $37.9 voucher as well? Sure TGG was in the wrong initially, but if you purposely tried to use a loophole in the system to continue this mess, that too me is two wrongs.. and you know the saying… two wrongs don't make it right.

    • +1

I just received the refund 10 mins ago and now the item is under purchase history and waiting for payment. I called ebay CC and told them I don't want to cancel and would like to get the item. They say they will escalate the issue with the seller but I doubted any harm TGG will be getting. Will still leave negative feedback but personally don't think it will make any differences as eventually this is a big company, not individuals sellers which they could run away. Eventually come down to price, TGG sometimes have 20% off, would you buy from them or elsewhere which is 10% more expensive then TGG? I can only wait for them to get back to me but I will only give them till Tuesday as the TGG voucher will expire on Wed next week.

      • -1

I know you are very upset, but let's look at the broader picture here:

        • TGG is still cleaning up this mess (their support staff are spending time on this and they get $0 out of this).
        • For every cancellation, they are giving out a $20 voucher (true, very short time to spend it), but that's still money out of their pocket.
        • Some people did end up getting the console(s).
        • You could get some compensation from feeBay Support as well.
        • TGG's seller rating (at least from eBay analytics) is !@#!@# and feedback is also @!#!@#.
        • PayPal is or will be angry with all these chargebacks / refunds.

Believe me, there is no way TGG is happy about this giant mess.

        • +1

I am not too upset about this since I wasn't looking to buy one if I didn't see the post but would like to correct some of your points.

TGG is still cleaning up this mess (their support staff are spending time on this and they get $0 out of this). I have to ring ebay to get the coupon code sorted cos I do have other things to but initially but this one save me more. I am the one who don't get pay to do all this. On the other hand TGG support staff do get pay for working for the company just not additional pay. I do sometime work overtime without extra pay.

$20 voucher only really costing TGG may be $12 and the pain is I have to drive to pick up the item which costs me another $5 buck at least on petrol only and over 30 mins time.

TGG seller rate doesn't mean too much, just like Myer and other big stores, you know they are there and eventually come down to how cheap they sell the item compare to others. If I see a TV that is hundreds cheaper than the next seller, I will still buy from TGG.

Paypal may not be happy but only around 500 transactions shouldn't hurt paypal that much consider they could have few hundreds thousand transations a day.

It is just wasting everybody so much time. Especially the ones who may have bought TGG GC to buy on their website and got cancel.

        • TGG would have been better off taking the loss of selling the 300 units on eBay to satisfy their customers. They could have handled this whole situation so much better and having a much better outcome for themselves. I won't be buying from them ever again after a few bad experiences previously, not that they would care with their turnover per year.

I think someone said their cost could potentially be around the $480 mark, so for the sake of $30,000 they prefer to spend time cancelling orders, processing refunds, dealing with ACCC, eBay and customer complaints. This doesn't make any sense to me…
