    • lol what?

Which part? The review I assume they're foreign, but it has all the indicators I'd expect. It started failing after 15GB transfered, which would indicate a ~16GB drive.

If you're whatting the rest of your comment, it's very common for dodgy sellers to hack USBs to show a higher capacity than they actually are. The USBs either outright fail/error or start writing over old data (creating corruption) once the actual limit is reached.

I like the bit where you skip the part about this drive having 2948 5-star reviews. (and also not mention only 4 * 1 star , no 2 start, no 3 star, 6 * 4 star)

and the numerous reviews which state H2test has indicated a capacity of ~120Gb and that the drive falls within the performance levels (for reading and writing) of USB3

but focus on a single review as the rule.

I think the "fake and (mod: edited)" is probably a bit over the top =p but the sentiment is correct. Like any cheap Chinese nand. Performance will be acceptable (not outstanding) and life will be anywhere from 10 days to 10 years.

…but it's also half the price.

      • Half the price is good, but it's kinda too slow to fill (even if it is actually 128GB) and too unreliable to trust. Best case you'll end up storing definitely legally downloaded media files on it…

Tempting but is Joybuy legit? Anyone who has bought off this site how was your experience with them?

    • +1

Joyboy is similar to banggood/gearbest. Some of their stuff is good, some is junk. Would say the site's legit, but dunno about this product.

    • Bought a 400gb micro sd card off them and it was legit but took 3-4 weeks to arrive. Some people got theirs within 2 weeks so it varies.

      • Have you actually tried filling it/testing it properly?

Joybuy is JD.com for overseas buyers, JD is 2nd largest Chinese online retailer after Alibaba and listed on NY stock exchange for a few years. It claims never sell counterfake, I bought many stuff all genuine and most arrived within 2 weeks. I trust it a lot more than AliExpress. China's Amazon.
      Just search here.

    • Bought a few things now off them and it came within three or so weeks ,all genuine and fair bit cheaper than BangGood and other sites.

    • Yes I've bought from JoyBuy, 2 times, both times items were under $20. As I had the same concerns as you.
But both items turned up, so all good.
My main concern with JoyBuy (and banggood/gearbest) is how all their product reviews are over 4.5 stars.
They must be deleting negative/poor feedback. If you look at eBay reviews which I (sort of) trust, their review ratings are all over the place, as it should be. Also they make ridiculous claims such as 150,000 lumens hand held torch for $17.22 (see link below). The average bright lounge room light puts out about 1,000 lumens or your backyard floodlight 2,000 lumens. So this little torch is meant to be 150 times brighter than your standard house light. So unless you know the product I wouldn't trust their descriptions or reviews. But at least they will send the crappy item that you paid for!!

  • That sounds like Chinese USB 3.0 to me!

    • That's because it is.

  • Someone posted some benchmarks in the reviews.

Performance is disappointing, but fair for the price you're paying.

There is a cheaper 128 Gb USB drive(joybuy.com) but it is only usb2. for US$12.65 / AU$17.64 delivered

This $20 one may be USB3, but if you look at its read and write speeds, it will not be bottlenecked by USB2.0. It's kind of redundant actually.

  • This expired? How do you get the US$14.66 price?

  • Not expired….now A$19.72

    • Yeah I noticed the new flash deal. I get A$21.78 with tax?

      • indeed….tax shows when ordering.
