  • Interesting. I wonder how this compares to the equivalent MITx course.

  • Does the course also give you a handgun licence?

    • +7

      Asking the important questions

It’d save me a fortune with Adobe 👨🏿‍🎤

    • +1

      You do not.

    • Thanks for your question No university-domain email is issued. Registration uses your own email address.

  • Do I'm getting any certificate for completing the course?

    • -8

No — and you won't get a certificate for English either it seems?

    • -2

But you can still put the uni on your resume under extra curricular activities. It’s bound to impress some fool.

    • Cisco issue a digital certificate on course completion.

  • +2

Thanks OP. There is also a free packet tracer course too - https://sydney.newcastle.edu.au/course/CIPT

    • -1

      WTF is a packet tracer?

      • Seems to be a Cisco tool.
        From the site:
The best way to learn about networking is to do it. Cisco Packet Tracer, an innovative network configuration simulation and visualisation tool, helps you hone your networking configuration skills. The Introduction to Packet Tracer Course covers the Cisco Packet Tracer user interface, creating a simple network of networking and IoT devices, using Simulation mode to verify device connectivity, modifying environmental elements, and programming the IoT devices

    • +1

Nice! I’ve enrolled in that one too.

  • I can see no mention of a certificate upon completion.
Can someone please confirm if thats the case?

    • it says "Digital Certificate on Completion"

  • can't find the link to start the course after successfull registration on https://www.skillsoncourse.com.au/portal/login

    • +1

The link is provided in a seperate email titled "Registration information: CITC-1 Introduction to Cybersecurity Course". We've modified the wording on communications for future users to make this more obvious. Thanks for your feedback.

  • -2

Registered because its free but then read the course content and realized its pretty useless for me…

    Thanks anyway

  • +4

I am only in Chapter 1, but boy the courseware is rather cheap. Huge useless stock photos and tiny unscalable text. No voice, no video, no interaction. The contents is very basic so far, Cert III-IV level. I know it's free, but so is Linda.com via your library. Linda have much better courses aimed at beginners but leading to useful certifications like Security+.

  • Thanks OP. Good content nice read. It's free and from University so why not?

  • I can't find what your supposed to click on once you're on the Skills On Course page. It's quite confusing as a self looping system.

    • The course registration link is contained in an email titled "Registration confirmation: CITC-1 Introduction to Cybersecurity" - its the blue "Register now" button. If you have already done this, the same email also contains links to the Cisco Networking Academy which is where the course is located.
