Anyone know how these compare to QC35's? Opinion on those? (I'm a bit of a headphone noob, I heard that QC35's were good)
Check out the link in the comment above. Some discussion and comparison posted there by users of both headphones.
These are on ear, rather than over ear like the QC35s
No - these are over the ear. H8 are on ear
So the OPs post is wrong….’The B&O Beoplay H9i Wireless On-Ear Headphones’.
Now I’m interested.
The H9i's have incredible sound quality. Find where they are in display and have a listen yourself. Brisbane domestic airport has some on test. They all have pretty similar sound quality and your decision will come down to comfort. These are round and may not sit around everyone's ears. Qc35s are oval but are also quite shallow. You'll have to test. Jim's reviews have comparison videos. He is thorough.

With all due respect. His videos don’t have as many hits but he is one of the best reviewers on YouTube.
There is no way he can be neutral & not biased when he is being supplied with H9i from B&O & does not make money from end users.
I come from a similar business model where end users don’t pay reviewers but reviewers are swayed by vendors by one mode or the other, else they can’t keep the lights on.If he would have millions of subscribers with a few million hits to videos he might be able to cut through given he has a team and puts in a lot of efforts and good gadgets to make videos.
I worked for a very famous company starting with ‘G’ whose reports are read in the specific industry by everyone but not everyone wants to pay $4000 to read a report, may be only CIOs & CEOs that too a handful. Th rest are given the report free by vendors who actually sponsor those reports LOL !
So, to draw a parallel , vendors help these ‘reviewers’ as ‘reviewers’ have thousand employees with salaries to pay
How many CIOs or CEOs will want that particular report and even if they pay it’s not good enough to run such an organisationMoral of the story - So if end user base is not enough, & are not paying- these reviewers have no option but to be lil biased and we as end users can’t complain for something we get for free
That's a good point. Thanks.
@congo: Do the reports say in which headphones are better?
I own the QC35's and my workmate recently got the H9i's and wow, the ANC is nicer on the H9i's, transparency mode is fantastic and everything overall feels nicer than my QC35's. the H9i's even have a removable battery and USB-C and longer battery life. The touch controls are nice (but never really had an issue with finding the buttons on the QC35's anyway). I would say it's worth the extra $. The only thing I'd say that I prefer with my QC35's is the comfort. Nothing has come close to the same level of comfort.
I have owned many headphones and H9i is one of them
But to be specific let me give everyone my opinion comparing Bose QC35 ii - Sony XM3 - B&W PX - H9iComfort - Bose wins , hands down , don’t even compare. But this becomes irrelevant if you are not going to use headphones beyond 2-3 hrs at a stretch , which I don’t. Even in flight, I take rest, remove headphones let me ears breathe, after watching a movie (usually 2ish hours). All of them can be tagged as comfy for 2-3 hrs usage even B&W PX which is panned down usually for comfort.
Battery - All go 20+ hrs, but B&O wins coz of interchangeable battery option.
Price - Got Bose & Sony for $320 from deals listed here, PX for $350-380. H9i for $400 new from Gumtree so nearly same ball park
App - Sony has the best app , followed by Bose. B&O - B&W tied at 3rd
Build Quality (Premium feel) :
B&W PX easily the best. Closely followed by H9i , then Bose and Sony being the last.ANC - Sony the best , closely tailed by Bose - not much to choose between these 2, but Sony is slightly better. PX & H9i are similar in ANC,but not as good as Sony. They are 80-90% of what Sony offers.
Sound Quality - This is what everyone cares the most. Subjective this is - always remember
1- B&W PX This is the best sounding headphone ANC. Clean mids and highs and punchy Lows but never over powering keeping it the best and most enjoyable. Has the best soundstage due to angled drivers inside. I like these over my legendary B&W P7, as those are bass heavy.2- B&O comes in very close 2nd to PX. Very detailed , amazing soundstage and 3 departments well made, but missing something compared to PX in sound quality but almost the same.
3- Bose QC 35 - most of use it we know how it sounds
4- Sony X3 - too bassy and mids are recessed. I did not like the sound neither the soundstage which is the worst amongst the 4 compared here
As best overall package I will be happy spending $400 on B&Os. I travel more on domestic flights which are 1-2 hrs max and once a quarter or once in 6 months international when I really need ANC for long hours, so does not matter much .
Priority wise - Sound quality takes the front seat for me followed by Battery life - ANC - Build & App
but would not spend $450-$500 on H9i Given PX offers same or better quality minus changeable battery. But overall I would rate
1 - B&W PX - best sound, premium build, ANC is very good, $370 definitely worth $20-40 over Bose & Sony
2 - Bose - they do everything right, but only missing the sound quality & soundstage that PX produces. $280- $320 is good price hence they are an amazing package.
3 - B&O H9i (just due to price being 50% more than others even in this deal. It would take 1 spot if it drops to $400
4 - Sony the last, I know lots of u here will hate me for it.Hope it helps someone trying to make a decision
did not consider smart features as I don’t care I don’t use them - like swipe up down etc. I rather use my phone or whatever it’s connected to choose the song and all of these have volume up down buttons or gesture swipe option that’s good enough
Thanks for the review mate.
Thanks for the review.
Can you please provide some feedback when you use the hp wired (not bluetooth)?
The sound quality should be much better?
absolute bargain!! o have those they are amazing
I got these, but sent them back. I can't actually remember why now. I think it was (for the money) a combination of all factors - comfort, ANC, sound quality.
Precious deal on Amazon - Price reduced to $555

Went on Kogan and ordered black coloured headphone for $481 as per someone's comment in previous thread. I think it's a really good deal.
