With Catch and Groupon I would be really hesitant to believe they’re genuine - would peg it at less than 30% chance.
Check out the low reviews first if you want to risk it!
Seems to be grey import Chinese model MD827ZM/A, exactly the same as the MD827LL/A model sold in the US.
Normally I would be inclined to agree with you, but given that these have a 3.5mm plug (not supported since iPhone 7), it's highly likely that Apple want to clear out their inventory of these. They can still be used with the 3.5mm to lightning adaptor that Apple provides though.
If I cut off the cords and leave them dangling in my ears will the sound improve?

I brought a set already from catch. After one week they were faulty.
They sent me out another one and it was faulty again. so they ended up refunding me.
They look genuine but, after that experience I wouldn't buy again.3.5m is a very long Plug so it's almost wireless!

These leak sound. I sit in the quiet carriage of the train and it is always these earphones that you can hear. Very annoying.
I already done the price beat from OW and got the original apple one in $25 (incl shipping).
