[VIC] Street Fighter/Rampage Arcade 1UP $149 (was $499) @ ALDI Lilydale/Leongatha/Cheltenham

870

My first 'OzBargain' deal listing :D

Same as 1UP Arcade ALDI previous deals but some stock has resurfaced.
As of 20/01/2019 ALDI stock says there is:

x6 SF/Rampage - ALDI Leongatha
x5 SF - ALDI Lilydale
x4 SF - ALDI Cheltenham

If you ring 13ALDI to confirm stock they tell you there is no stock anywhere which is incorrect. I just picked up 2 SF machines today from a store they said had no stock. So best to go to the store itself or try to get your local ALDI store manage to call the other store to confirm.

Good hunting!!!

I would love the sf one except no stock near me

    • +12

More than 10 available = deal

    • +6

Just because something has limited stock doesn't mean there's no deal. Last I checked $149 is cheaper than $299…

    • +1

lol this is very helpful… still $300 and $400 at the nearby Aldi's I went to.

    • +2

      Grow up.

      There’s a thread for this stuff… https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/290298

  • +6

I mistook the header for a news title rather than a game

    • Melbourne: The Game

  • +1

Damn it that price would buy in NSW

    • I saw one Rampage unit at Aldi Fairfiled West

      • How much did you see it for?

        • There was no price tag. Didn’t ask

      • Looking for SF. Saw them hit 299 but then gone

  • +4

The price was actually $499 when they were initially for sale.

  • +5

Still to expensive in my opinion. Saw these and the Gauntlet cab at my local a week ago for this price. Reviews for the Gauntlet cab arent great as the controls are messed up with the combo of games they have on there. Prefer to put the money towards a real full height cab at some point.

    • Can it be modded with Recalbox or Retropie?

      • +2

Not sure about those two, but I know a lot of people who have thrown a raspberry pi inside with new buttons, joysticks and all and they look and play great!

  • I’ve went to two Gold Coast Qld Stores today and saw some at both and they were priced at $299

I’ve tried price matching in the last for $149 but all stores I tried at 5 in total all said no as Gold Coast have a different region

    • Well that sucks.
I was hoping this was national price and it was just a matter of hunting stock down.

      • +2

Apparently this price is only in Vic at some stores

        Not in NSW or QLD
Don’t know about the other states

      • Doubt people are going to pay $300. Just a matter of time if you are keen on them.

    • Try speaking to ALDI head office as they are supposed to have a national pricing policy so prices should be the same across the country.

      • +1

Pretty sure mark downs are up to the store. Heard of plenty of people going in and asking for a best price on a item thats been on shelves for a few weeks. So i suspect its manager discretion.

      • +2

All discou ta are at the manager's discretion a d differ from store to store. It's been like this forever

        • +6

          Yes this is correct
Alsi does have national pricing but only on their normal stock and new release special buys. Discounts are up to the regional manager that’s why NSW & QLD don’t have this price

      • That almost never happens….? I scour my Aldis and all constantly different with prices

        • It's done on a regional, not store, basis…

  • +3

AAAND…. you've got these monkeys trying to flip stock at $300-$680 on gumtree: https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-video-games-consoles/vic/1up+ar…

    • Yep good luck to them…lol

    • +1

I hate profiteers like this. Middle men are parasites that put themselves between the producer and the consumer and make enormous profits in the process. Take this snippet: "The Music Industry Generated $43 Billion in Sales Last Year. Artists Only Received 12% of that."

    • -1

They could have just bought it at full price and tried to recoup their costs?

      • -1

No, Aldi has a return policy so its pure profiteering. Scums of the earth really.

        • -1

Or they might have bought these at EBGames for $700 and realised they were ripped. EB Southland had htese for that just before Christmas.

  • Anything in WA??

  • Dang, there's 6x at my local, all still marked at $249

  • +1

Pity about the stock and price in NSW, would have bought in a heartbeat …brings back sweet memories of SF in my younger days!

  • Not a bad choice with this price, especially when you can mod it with Retropie or Pandorabox.

  • -2

anyone know if there's any in adelaide?

  • Yeah looking for SF one in NSW but haven't seen stock anywhere.

    • They had some at Bathurst a few weeks back.

    • But doesnt come witha screen, and probably isnt licensed

      • +1

It's a custom MAME instance so not licenced.

Not to mention emulation falls short of 2D stuff. 3D will struggle (even SF EX/EX2, Tekken etc).

  • +1
    • Dang, that's disappointing how small they are.

      • Exactly.. Thats what made me decide not to bother getting one. Even for 99 bucks it would be useless to me being that small

      • If you want to see how small it really it is go to the 2:10 mark…

True comments and love the comparison between the original NES and the minis, but a lot of what was said becomes a different story once the price is reduced to a third of the original price.

End of the day, this is a toy. I got mine and love it.

  • If it helps anyone - I saw about 6x of these 1UP Arcade (unsure which ones) at the Rosebud VIC Aldi about a week ago. They were marked at $299 or so tho.

  • +1

Last one gone in Lilydale, winning. Thanks OP :)

    • +1

Lasted a while considering it was posted here, I got in around 8:45am (was worried I'd miss out as I tried to get in at 8:30am but was late) and I assume there were 4 left when it opened at 8:30am. I saw one bloke walking out with 2 in his trolley as I was walking into the complex and I grabbed 1, you're lucky I was going to grab 2 but didn't know if any of my mates would want one and I didn't want to Broden it.

I did leave the one with the damaged box for you though ;)

According to the manager the stock was from another store that couldn't move it, probably why it was reduced to $149 and other stores are $299?

Probably all out of stock now at those 3 stores, can confirm when I left Lilydale there was only 1 left (which this guy bought)

      • +1

Lol, thanks for leaving it for me, much appreciated.
Saw the damage, inside was fine though, plays great and the small size isn't a problem for me, takes up less room but still great, sitting on a stool.
Saw the guy with 2 trying to squeeze them into his car as I turned up, must have been just after you.

        • Just glad someone who will use it got it and not a reseller :) don't usually care as much as most people but something with only a handful of stock is a little different.

Yeah figured it would be fine, my box had a few dents also but nothing compared to yours so hopefully it's fine as well.

How long did it take you to set up? I was busy today so haven't had the chance to unbox it yet.

          • @AjsGuns: I had it done and playing by about 11.
Was only looking after 2 kids, they're fine :)
Think I need to mod it now, joystick seems glitchy, would have taken it back if I'd paid $500 for sure.

  • Absolute steal if this was full size. If you MOD it, still good buy.

  • Good if you got kids but for that price you could buy a raspberry pi, some arcade controls and make your own for less that will play a lot more. You would be angry if you paid full price and now they are at clearance.

  • Overall it's a good deal, so +1 and all, but I can't be bothered until it hits 50 or so. Got me a full size Xbox 360 store kiosk thing that fills my needs for such things. If I didn't though, I'd still probably wait until this hits 100, they charged waaaay too much out the gate for it I think.

    • I'd be shocked it his hit 100, let alone 50. At $150 I assume there at a loss.

      • Absolutely. Doubt we will be seeing more of these in the country again. Clearly not enough of a market here. Though seems they have a heap more machines coming out in the US plus extra merch.

  • Just checked a Gold Coast Aldi store just to see and it was still $299

    • Checked yet another Gold Coast Store today and still $299

SF fans, dont forget, you can choose secret character AKUMA for super sf turbo. google for more by pattern of moving the characters for 3 seconds, finalising with press/hold start button, half a sec later press 3 punch button alltogether to achieve easire success rate.

got 1 on chaddy for $149, return product from someone else on the weekend.

built it last night, very good quality built, the pieces was packed very carefully to avoid scratches, unlike those furniture packs without any wraps or smallboxes.

instruction VERY clear, printed on good quality of paper.

The packing system and the quality of the case + the way it packed, is heaps better than IKEA.

    unit case is medium size…

downside, video quality a bit poor, but acceptable. joystick is a bit hard to use, maybe my hand is to big for a small unit case.

for 2 adult to play sitting next to each other is a bit tight due to the location of the joystick.

overall for $149, bring back those childhood memories is worthed. life time memories come from great moments !!!

  • Saw one in Gladesville Aldi for $199 on the weekend. Not cheap enough imo.

    • It's still there, but it's the Midway model.

I wish I could find the SF model in Sydney, even for $199.

  • If anyone wants to know how tiny these are go to 2:10…

    https://youtu.be/SQG_6hZPMlY

  • Anyone found these in Qld at this price? Cheapest I found is $250

    • Lucky to find $250

Everywhere on the Gold Coast is $299

      • +3

$199 at Beenleigh. Good luck getting it to your car without getting stabbed though

  • -1

None at Cheltenham and staff said there hasn't been any since Christmas.

    • +1

What time did you get there? The 4 or 5 left sold out by 9am at Lilydale. Apparently according to the manager they took on another stores stock and only had it there for like 2 days (meaning many staff wouldn't know it came back in stock for 24-48 hours).

The OP was pretty accurate about the Lilydale store, I saw a guy walk out with 2 and I got 1 with another poster saying he got the other (that's 4) Might of been another someone else got or one that sold last night after the OP got his/hers.

Would be considerate if people could take 20 seconds to report stock if they buy/visit a store though.

      Thanks OP, I'm chuffed. You're a champion!

      • Yeah the staff are a bit clueless. 3 stores I went to initially didn't even know they had an arcade machine for sale. Same as the ALDI number you can call according to them no stock since before Christmas as well. Cheltenham must have just sold them since my initial post :S

  • -1

None left at Cheltenham- apparently never had any, they sold them before Christmas

  • Got the Rampage cabinet.
Going to put in a Raspberry Pi.

    • I assume from Leongatha? Might be nice to post how many SF/Rampage left for others and when you got it.

  • I'd love to get one
Would anyone know if there is any other stock available in South East or East Melbourne Suburbs left?
    Thanks

  • +1

$199 all stores on Gold Coast

    • +1

Some stores on Gold Coast still selling for $299

    • Aldi Ashmore on GC had 5 Street Fighter units at $199 as of 11am

    • Just bought the Street Fighter model from Aldi Mudgeeraba for $199

Was about 5 more in stock plus 1 Rampage

I don't actually like Street Fighter type games but the 6 button (per player) layout is more generic than the Rampage one.
Will install one of my RPi3 with RetroPie

  • +1

6x Rampage Edition Available at Liverpool Plaza (NSW) Store as of 1.00PM
    Ticket Price at $199

They still had the ticket price for Street Fighter edition listed at $299 but no units available

  • +1

Does anyone know if there are some still available at Leongatha?

  • I know the OP posted a copy of his receipt - but does anyone have a photo in store of the $149 price ticket for the Street Fighter model ?

    • There is no price listing in store for the arcade machine unfortunatley.

      • They dont have a yellow or red price tag in store ?

How did you know how much it cost (since it varies between stores) before getting to the checkout ?

EDIT: found a pic of the Rampage price ticket… but Im looking for the Street Figher price ticket.

        • I had to ask the manager at Lillydale before purchase and they looked it up on the system.

  • Leogatha all sold out. The Price was $149. Anyone know of any other stores in VIC?

    • Would like to know too
