      3840x2160(24/25/30/50/60Hz) = 4K
      Ultra HD = 4K

    • +2

      3840x2160(24/25/30/50/60Hz)

    • +2

Literally in the title and description where it lists supported resolutions…

  • +2

Never heard of the brand. Will do a search.

    Thanks OP

    • +21

If you buy a TV from China you can ask them to put whatever brand you like XD

      • +5

Make a "Broden" brand then sell them on Gumtree for a profit.

    • -1

I'm wondering if it is a rip-off of a JVC or JBL

      • +4

        Yes

      • +2

Bit of black tape/pen and you have a JV.

  • +1

Am I the only one hovering over buy it now thinking how bad can it be??

    • Me too…I already have surplus tv's lol

    • Actually it’s not bad, it may works good but most of these TVs got small problems, compare them with Kogan stuff they’re all same model

      • I’ve got an full HD jvc from few years ago. Was surprisingly good (including the speakers)

        • +9

          Just realised this is JV”L”
          I have a Jvc

          • +1

            @Danstar: same…

            • @juki: JVC = Japan Victor Company, aka HMV. Still a real thing.

          • +3

@Danstar: Hmm..L may be stand for Luxury and C stands for classic?

  • I reckon at that price you can't go wrong. Pity I don't have a need for a new TV.

    • My only issue is they don't list whether it supports Vesa or not :/

  • +1

I cant find any info about the TV at all…

    • Price match.

      • Not worth it for me. Freight outweighs the benefit

  • -1
    • Doesn't look the same.

      • +1
        • +1

Nope, the JVL doesn't have that curved bump on the bottom of the screen

          • @Mixhael: …but on the ebay site, the 2nd picture has the bump, so i think it's the same as the rebranded Soniq.

            • @9hundred: Funny how the same listing has two different models in the pictures. Nice pickup

          • +2

@Mixhael: The one delivered to my folks this morning has the little bump

  • +4

Where are they getting the 120hz from?

    • +19

      The 120hz shop mate…where else?

    • +1

I have a 4k 120hz tv from wasabi-mango. I wouldn't trust a claim that a screen has 120hz unless it was a monitor. Whatever the software mode that makes it do 120hz is not worth it, accordingto Tom cruise's promotion of mission impossible. Way to go Tom.
Tv is fine, I got what I paid for (except the 120hz).
I'll be looking for a bigger tv next year with hdr.

    • +1

60Hz viewed with two separate eyes.

JVL is is the JVC "Skunkworks" division where all their next generation black box technologies are developed. A combination of Japanese engineers, and Swiss artisans will manufacture your TV to subliminal levels of quality. This in collaboration with former Lockheed Martin F-35 software engineers who will offer an impeccable "Smart TV platform"

  • Worse… Cortana :(

  • Not sure if same model but looks similar and has bad reviews

    https://www.bigw.com.au/product/jvc-55-34-smart-uhd-led-tv/p…

    • +2

Just had a quick read. Almost all 1&2 stars reviews were all about crap smart TV features (build in netflix/ Youtube), which is kind of a given I guess. Should be fine (but don't quote me) if you already expect crap smart TV feature and was planning to override with chromecast anyway (I know it says chromecast built-in , but yea perhaps expect it to be wonky built-in just in case)

tl;dr: most 1 star complaints = crap smart TV features. should be fine if just using chromecast (built-in / external)

    • Very different model based on specs.

Think this is similar panel to Soniq N55UX17B-AU

  • Would this be better than my 10 year old 50"Sanyo TV?

    • +6

Ask the people in the know?

      • +4

Where are these sacred people in the know you speaketh of?

        • +5

Sanyo's jingle was 'For people in the know… SANYO!'. So oldhippy should ask himself.

          • @BartholemewH: I remember it slightly different as “Sanyo! For people in the know.”

      • Picture quality probably yes.

Sound quality, menus, delay between remote press etc may all be varying degrees of worse.

    • +1

      Yes

    • 100% it will be

  • +6

lol thought it was JVC haha

    • LOL me too!

    • Thought it was jbl

      • +3

Its a merger of jbl and jvc. 🤣

      • Using the screen as a subwoofer diaphram…

  • +1

    Crikey 14 bought

    • +1

Yes because who needs a single 55" oleds for $2000 when you can get 5 of these instead.

      /s

    • One was me, for my parents who are using a very old Samsung that’s having many issues, this cannot possibly be any worse …I hope…

  • +6

If u can’t trust ‘JVL’, then who can you trust 😔

    • super!!

  • +2

    Is this @JV in Large?

    • +2

      Not BOLD enough…

  • +1

    Does it have android tv?

    • +1

      Does it have android tv?

Even they have I don't think they are good.

  • +1
    • +3

      Not4k

      • That's probably a good thing as upscaling is typically poor on cheap TVs like these.

  • +1

All well and good, but my experience with generic UHD tvs is they offer some or all of the following:

    Sluggish gui performance
    An ugly unintuitive gui
    Slow channel Change speed
    Jittery 4k video
    Un-even backlighting
Horrible remotes (that once broken or lost can't be replaced).

    • +1

Most of these cheap brand offer new remotes for around $40-$60

      • +1

That's assuming they are still around in a couple of years.

      • Would they work with Logitech Universal?

        • Not usually, thats goes for most Chinese brands tho like soniq teac etc.

          • @solidussnake: Well Kogan. Viano. Jvc have been around for longer than a few years and offer decent warranty and replacement parts

And I’m talking from experience not assumptions.

My Xbox 360 universal remote worked with a JVC and a TCL tv without issue ( basic operations only obviously)

            • @Danstar: Lucky you.. My 5 years in JB in Tv's universal remotes WOULDN'T work on Soniq, Teac, Palsonic etc you had to go through the manufacture to buy that specific remote thanks for the neg flop

  • TFW a fellow no-name brand tries to prey on consumer's memories of brands past by (almost) copying yours…

    • Even many well known brands of the past are now just reselling generic panels with their brand stamped on the front.

I had the misfortune of purchasing a blaupunkt uhd TV about 6 months ago. It was a complete and utter 🍕 💩. It was so bad the seller offered to refund me,which I accepted.

  • I dont need a new TV but….so cheap for a 4k tv

  • +1

Same specced panel as Soniq N55UX17B-AU as far as I can see. Maybe good information to find reviews…

  • Would this be ok as a monitor? Not gonna be watching many videos so don't have that requirement.

  • Aldi had a Bauhn 4k tv for $399. Think it was 55" too.

    • Did it come with Chromcast?

Because Chromecast Ultra us like $99 on its own?

      • It has some type of a smart media player but not Chromecast. Put the last line of the specifications into Google and got a link to the soniq tv. Still being stocked at in, so you could check the UI etc in person.

        • thats fair enough thats a good deal

i guess the only other issue i'd have is my aldi special buys at usually sell out pretty quick

However thats a great buy if you got your hands on one!

  • Soniq TV (seems to be exactly the same) is $499 delivered, but the 3 year warranty VS 1 year would certainly give me some peace of mind

  • i like to hear from people after their purchase. according to reviews the "smart" part is practically useless as the hardware is not powerful enough to run the apps, therefore people experienced freezing and lagging as well as resolution problems with the apps.

    • The 'smart' on this is nothing more than the inbuilt Chromecast, which is hopefully a bit more future proof

    • Just about all "smart" TVs only get a year or two of manufacturer updates and then their apps become obsolete and start dying as providers upgrade their services. They're not worth worrying about, just rely on a streaming box/genuine Chromecast instead.

  • Anyone notice it doesn't list AAC as a supported digital TV audio format? Too bad there are HD channels currently using it…

    • Does this mean it will show the picture but no sound on some free to air channels?

      • It's likely just an oversight (if it has a Chromecast it must be able to decode AAC), but still… if a feature isn't advertised you've got little recourse if it's actually missing.

  • Anyone else's order get cancelled? Just got an email claiming "stock discrepancy" and a refund

  • Anyone's shipped yet?

    • +1

Paid but not sent still. I've requested an update from greys.

      • I noticed ebay says they usually ship within 3 business days of receiving payment so I’d expect it to ship by tomorrow
