Plantronics Backbeat Fit 2100 in-Ear Wireless Headphones $119 @ JB Hi-Fi

40

Wife was looking for running headphones and these came up.

Reviewed favourably at wirecutter
https://thewirecutter.com/reviews/best-running-headphones/

JB's also have the 305's at $79

Also our local store had more colour range than the click and collect system showed so may be worth a phone call if in doubt

The old backbeat fits are my favourite bluetooth headphones. I use them primarily for podcasts and audiobooks so while they do suffer a bit from reduced volume and sound quality, it's a good compromise for me as I like that they don't block out so much ambient noise. Battery life has been pretty solid over the last 3 years (Apr 2016, with probably 2-3 uses per week consistently), though some reduced capacity lately. They're also reasonably sweat/water proof - I've used them while running as well as in the pool and shower (not submersing them though) and they're still working great.

Any comments from those who have owned both the old Backbeat Fit and this new model?

Edit: looks like same price at Officeworks https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/plantronic…

I feel the same way about mine. Amazing for exercise. It seems the buttons are able to be customised now and are easier to feel. Not sure if it's worth the upgrade for me. The 3100 look like being my next ones!

      • A number of reviews mention these hiss a lot. Read the reviews on Amazon.

        • Yeah the 3100 look interesting. I think I'll hold off for them to fix some bugs though. Hopefully they'll release a firmware update or a gen 2

        • @Risto links?

          • @norkle: search the model on Amazon.com

            • @[Deactivated]: Interesting. I already have 2x pairs of fit pro's which I find great as an open headphone for activity. As an open headphone in noisy environments I didn't buy these for their audio quality (they're fine, but not audiophile quality), but the robust construction, long battery life, easy to use controls, comfort and resistance to sweat, make them great for me.

I guess if I bought these and found hiss, I'd return them as defective and try a replacement or refund. I'd probably even be prepared to check them out while at store.

              • @norkle: The more I thought about these, the more I appreciate the extra buttons with my fit pro. I saw too many people also complaining about volume control from the headphones. I don't want to have to reach for my phone when a loud song comes on!

  • Thanks OP
