I've heard from a previous deal these ones aren't that good. A more expensive one was recommended but I don't remember which one it was.
The Rockwell dual action polisher is better.
is that this one ? https://www.supercheapauto.com.au/p/rockwell-shopseries-rock…
Yep. I bought one last year, has decent reviews but haven't got round to using it yet lol.
The DA is more amateur proof, it's much harder to make mistakes like burning edges.
i've used it, it's great. 1995 car paintjob freshened up!
@leeroys_dad: Did you use just the included pad or buy extra different ones?
@iShibby: hmm I can't remember what it came with but I used a foam pad (I think I bought it separately from China). Theory being is that all the dirt and crap gets pushed into the tiny holes in the foam whereas a microfibre pad might keep the dirt on it and scratch the paint
save the planet from useless landfills, this is one of those. I have it and couldnt use it more than 2 times coz of its uselessness
This one is so slow its useless. I have it and I regret it.
Does it work on CDs/DVDs/Blu-Rays?
I take it you're discs are damaged beyond repair
Toothpaste method didn’t work. Figured this could be like a cheap disk buffer.
Young children and disks don’t mix well.
I found this more trouble than it's worth and it's quicker to just polish by hand.
I wonder if someone actually successfully used one of these. The reason proper detail is expensive is because all these cheap machines are utter garbage more suitable for applying wax rather than paint correction or even simple finish. Just one decent pad costs 20$ and you would go through a couple if you want to do one car properly. Not to mention how much decent compound or polish costs. If all you expect is the same results as hand polish with less effort this would be good. If you expect more this is not the one to get unfortunately.
You need the more powerful DA to remove any kind of scratches/swirls. The only thing this would be good for is wax applications lol.
Can you recommend a good wax for a beginner?
I personally use coatings more than waxes. But I've got some of this which works well! https://www.supercheapauto.com.au/p/turtle-wax-turtle-wax-ca…
I have a sheet of Perspex with light scratches could I use one of these or would it likely cause more damage you think?
