Is this suitable for 2018 MacBook Pro Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) ports?

    • +6

Works great, I use it with my 2018 MBP, had it since mid September.

      • Thank you for Answering 00, I wasn't 100% sure so I was waiting for a response from the people in SunValley towers :)

        • Hi Xev, Would it work on a new (2018) MacBook Air (that has a 30W Power Adaptor?

  • +4

I use this for my 2018 MacBook Pro. It’s been perfect, hasn’t missed a beat. I have all ports loaded up on it. Very happy with this product.

Would this work with phones that use USB-C? For example plug to Pixel 2 XL, and plug to power, so it charges the phone, then plug my DAC/AMP via USB as well to get audio going through USB via the phone. If it works, could be a nice option to have at home for music listening through the phone.

    • I have just a bit of testing on my Mi Max 2, I was able to charge it through the hub but I don't know how you would go with your DAC/AMP

Any chance of a deal on this model with Ethernet and Micro SD slot?

There will be a deal on that I am just not sure when at this stage.

If you want to send me a private message with VA-UC006 in the title I will be happy to notify you when I do have a deal for that :)

      • +1

Interested in this also, VA-UC006. Thanks

Will this work with Nintendo switch?

    • Yes, this will work.

Buyer beware if you're looking to use this with a 4K monitor:

    4K Video Adapter
Setting up an extra Monitor or projector has never been so easy.
Simply connect with the HDMI port and you can enjoy Ultra HD (4K) at 30Hz or Full HD (1080p) at 60Hz with high definition audio in no time at all.
No driver required for the MacBook or Chromebook Pixel.

    • Can anyone recommend a 4K@60Hz option?

  • Will this work with macbook 12" 2016? Thanks

    • Yes, this will work.

  • +1

Anyone tried this one with Samsung galaxy note 9?

  • How long will this deal last?

    • Friday, 11.59pm AEDT

  • If you don't want the HDMI, Officeworks is cheaper for name-brand: https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/verbatim-u…

    • +3

It also doesn't have a type-C charging port with Power Delivery.

      • +2

I personally don't trust non-OEM power ports for my laptop. That's a lot of money to trust an off-brand adapter not to damage it.

  • Are a lot of manufacturers rebadging the same adapter?

  • +1

Linked deals to your previous headphones post is expired. Should be removed from this post too.

  • Thought about buying one for my work laptop but it needs 20w / 4amps (current power pack), this device provides .5amps from a quick Google on a conversion table?! Way short of the 4amps needed to charge/power newer laptops?!

Can someone who has the knowledge please confirm?

    Thanks,

    • +1

If your laptop is powered through a USB-C port, then you plug your laptop's power supply into the hub's one & only USB-C port. Plug the hub's USB-C pigtail into the USB-C charging port on your laptop.

The Power (up to 100W) is delivered through the hub into the laptop, at the same time charging the laptop (aka PD/Power Delivery).

  • I spent about $12-$15 more and got a VAVA a few weeks ago. Works well but gets super hot with the 82w passthrough in use.

Has ethernet also. Be interested to see if this also gets hot

    • +1

I think it generally gets hot with any use. I plug it into my ipad pro with no passthrough and it still gets hot just from being powered by the device

      • Good to know. Thanks.

Can't expect something that gets this warm to last a long time…

  • Could not wait for the VA-UC006 so purchased and posted a c type 6 in 1 adapter from Amazon here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/433473
Tested on PC and Lenovo laptop. Great quality and works well, has ethernet, SD, USB 3.0, 4k hdmi.
