I think its pretty new
They're nearly 8 months old.

This seems to be the same panel.
Model KALED55SU9015SZA
Put that into Google and the reviews seem to say it shuts down often, but there's not many reviews out there. I can say that Kogan's TV's really suck for sound but when you're spending that much money to get a big TV then you go and spend some on a sound bar also. It looks like it uses the same software as my 55" KALED55MU8010SZA which I'm actually pretty happy with as a 4K HDR TV in general but you're probably going to need a Kodi etc box also.
Shuts down every 4 hours for 7 mins
wtf
Yep. It's in their manual:
"OLED Panel"
In order to protect the OLED panel from wear and premature failure, the TV will automatically switch off after extended periods of use, approximately 4 hours. Do not turn the TV back on before the advised period or you risk causing permanent, non warrantable damage to the TV.Source: https://assets.kogan.com/files/usermanuals/KALED55SU9015SZA-…
That shutting down every 4 hours, has it got to do with it being an OLED panel, or is it just Kogan?
@w02m08w: This does not apply to LG or Panasonic OLED TVs
That has gotta suck for long tv sessions.
Would suck even more for gaming.
@LikeMike: Yeah definitely. I have not looked into it yet but I bet this has huge screen burn in.
@AlienC: I imagine shutting down for 7 minutes every four hours is to prevent burn-in.
It wouldn't work for me but I guess it could be OK for people who spend four straight hours watching the tube without taking a break.
@Diji1: Yeah as maybe a lounge or living room short viewing tv it should be ok.
@LikeMike: gaming on oled ?
never a good idea
What a toss.
What about my all day binge watch.
Damn no 65"?
An actual OLED panel for $999?
Comes with huge caveats afaik.
I just paid 800 for a 50' hisense series 7, maybe I should have waited.
It’s a Konka rebranded TV. Search Whirlpool for some comments.
Would konk out after four hours.

seems like a good deal for a 4k smart tv I almost bought one of the aldi cheapies but they are not smart Tvs
It isn't a good deal for a 4k smart tv (you can find heaps of branded smart TV's at this price point)… it would be a good deaL if it's an OLED panel though.
I have one. Yes, it turns off after 4 hours for a few minutes, but I don't find it a big deal. Looks great and sound isn't bad for the $$.
Serious question - I've just bought an investment property for Air BnB'ing and so on and need to put a telly in, so can anyone tell me why I would buy this over a Big W Polaroid or JVC or whatever for several hundred dollars less? Thanks.
If it is an OLED planel, then the picture and blacks will be MUCH better than any of those and even the big 4 entry level TV's. For an AirBnb I would just get something decent, like a Boxing day Samsung deal (hopefully a 55" for ~$900) etc. Just for convenience of dealing with the support if something goes wrong.
Thanks for your informative reply Hypie. No thanks to the negative Nancy's though!
The contrast ratio is 140,000:1 for an OLED panel I think it's quite low.
Looks like another rubbish that has a glorified panel.
Then you will see them flood on Gumtree for $500 after a few months, like their predecessors as they can't wait to get rid of it.
If you want an real OLED TV without all the constraints, get an LG, Sony or Panasonic.
There is a current sale listed here for a 55" Pana for $1710@ Videopro
It's $700 more, but then 700 less headaches :PCheers
for that price can get 2 and switch after 4 hrs
😁😂😂
hahaha!
+1
Well, then you have 2 pieces of sh!t and need an HDMI switcher to changeover TV's when one switches off!
:P
What a load of rubbish. People bought these for $1500+ before today, they wouldn't be selling on Gumtree for $500, even if someone buys it for $999 now for boxing day…. you are talking out of your ass.
There is no "flood" of LG OLED 55" panels on Gumtree, facebook marketplace, etc, lowest is about $1300.
What a load of rubbish.
Please read the discussion thread before you respond.
I am referring to the KOGAN OLED TV and not the LG OLED
What does the main thread refer to?
Next time, please wear your glasses
I'm also referring to the Kogan OLED. If you can find one on Gumtree for $500 in 3 months, let alone a "flood" then let me know, I'll buy one and eat the remote.
@zan5hin: You'll be the first one to know when that happens!
Make sure you're hungry as there will be a nice, dirty used remote for you to eat!
Can't wait for ALDI to bring in an OLED TV of their own.
Oh boy the budget OLED wars has begun.
Presumably there's still margin selling at $999. At $2199 they're making an extra $1200 profit!
The $87.22 postage on top is a shame. It's pretty tempting for an OLED panel even with the need to switch it off, I don't see that as a problem, taking a break of seven minutes every four hours…. go for a walk, make a cup of tea, have a poo, call your mother, feed the dog.
I suggest that you buy the TV, and then get back to us if you are happy.
Got the email advertising this, so now im trying to find reviews but no luck so far >_<
