[VIC] Nokia 6.1 (2018) 3GB/32GB for $317 @ Officeworks Yarraville (in-Store Only)

340

JB is selling this for $399 and Harvey Norman for $347. Seems like a good price.

Just picked this up from Yarraville, VIC and they had a couple units left when I called. They have a 30 day change of mind policy in case something better come soon up after Boxing Day.

    Great first post, thanks!
After software updates, the camera works well and the phone has NFC too

A week or so ago this user commented that the camera is really bad?

Just a word of caution on this handset - the camera is terrible, especially in low light. You might as well use an etch-a-sketch. (https://www.amazon.com.au/Etch-A-Sketch-Freestyle-Toy/dp/B01…)

The unit I had also died inside 6 months (bought it at JB a while back though so warranty covered) and needed to be sent back to get repaired. I might have just gotten unlucky but I wouldn't buy another Nokia based on my experiences so far.

Did I mention the camera? It's really, really bad.

    • Cool new software updates to not install until I'm bothered to.

  • Hope they got rid of the jankiness in the UI, good prices though

Xiaomi Mi 8 lite. Almost identical price, much better specs

    • This has band 28 :)

      • +4

Same as Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite :)

        • Does it have NFC though.

    • I have mi 8 lite no NFC but big deal. People bang on about NFC but honestly use your watch or use a ring on your finger like I do.

Definitely a great price for Australian stock warranty. But if you are keen on the 4GB/64GB version look up qd_au on ebay, there has been plenty of talk about him and its currently sitting at $315. I have ordered two and the last one only took 3 days to get here via DHL express.

Australian warranty is definitely a bonus as i just found. My 6.1 purchased from qd_au 3 months ago and is in need of a warranty claim as the earpiece speaker is barely audible. Finally after some pushing i have to send it back with a 5-7 week wait. Coming from a samsung I dislike a lot of things about this phone, however, I picked it up for $260 and it is a lot of bang for your buck.

thks, got one, Australian warranty and charger is a plus for me as it's for my son, we can add memory via the SD. It's replacing a Xiaomi A1, now he has band 28 ….

Was deciding between office works or price match JB, went with Officeworks as if there is a warranty issue they are easier to deal with or push for refund.

It's updating to pie as I'm typing ….

Sth Yarra has stock as does Keysborough … or hit JB for price match, especially if you have gift vouchers.

My own phone is the Nokia 7 plus …also on pie, love it .. NFC, band 28, Android One, ticks most of my boxes.

  • Does this have a notification led?

Not as far as i am aware. I got this for my parents and they complain it doesnt have one! Can't win! Compared to their old Mi 5, its about the same performance wise. Slightly bigger in the hand to hold, but has better reception as we live in the country - 300+km from Perth.

it notifies missed calls or messages, alarms etc via small icons on the display ….it’s how most new phones notify things now. adding a dedicated led adds complexity and takes up space, doing it via the display means it’s a software only function.

Funny how lots of cheap phones still manage to have it.

Why pay $317 when tobydealsau.com is selling the 4GB version@$251 and Officeworks matches price with tobydeals.

    • +3

has to be same model number down to the sku, they won't match.

      • +2

        Officeworks = single sim
        Tobydealsau = dual sim

    • "Jay13" Have you tried personally yourself to price match tobydeals with officeworks?

Some of their stores price matched the Nokia 8 and from what I read also the Nokia 7 plus, but after a day or so myself as others were refused as they got memo from head office to decline due to different model ( sinle sim v dual sim, but we know real reason was because price was too low, although some of their own stores were clearing stock for much less ).

So, looks like it really is up to the mood/experience/personality of staff and/or the manager of the particular Officeworks your attempting. Also not everyone likes the whole price match procedure as it's very hit or miss, and staff can make it difficult too.

Bought this a few months ago when HN were selling them for $327(?) Good phone, but I preferred my Xiaomi A1, which my wife stole, although this has NFC, unlike the A1.

    • We bought Nokia 6.1 to replace the A1 ….nokia has NFC and band 28 and is treble compliant. The A1 is nice but not designed for Australian market.

I got the Nokia 8, I love that there is minimal bloat, Nokia all the way for me, until Samsung release another Google Play Edition phone :-D

Price has been this for a couple of weeks now - I picked one up at Morley WA store last Saturday as I need a phone while my phone is off for warranty repair.

So far, has worked very well - good battery life, fast enough for the day to day app use, NFC is useful.

  • Better off getting Moto G6 Plus 4GB/64GB for $339](https://www.tobydealsau.com/en_AU/product/motorola-moto-g6-p…), or $322 with Officeworks price match.

  • Update:
Looks like Officeworks has moved this up to $347 while JB and HM moved this to $319.2 and $327 respectively.
