More public money being wasted when it was the state governments who created this mess in the first place by selling off our power infrastructure. The $50 bonus will no doubt cost $100 after costs are taken into account.

Cool, more cash for the rest of us.

Sorry this is OzBargain, not OzPoliticsWhinge.

This isn't a bargain, how is the doubling of power bills in under ten years a bargain?

If people would actually think instead of being fooled by pathetic $50 rebates we wouldn't have governments selling off essential services in the first place.

Where do you think the ~$100 comes from to pay each $50 bonus?

      More public money being wasted

You'll be glad to know that the ACCC found energy comparison web sites are simply scams claiming to offer customers the best prices available while displaying the providers paying the highest commissions.

Since it made no mention of comparison sites hosted on .gov extensions I can only assume they are also scams.

Energy Made Easy which is run by the Australian Energy Regulator who regulates the disaster that is a disaster because of hopeless regulation. Not that the private sector would be cheaper even if it was well regulated. This is the regulator that has to provide a website to compare prices because it's regulations make it too difficult for consumers to compare prices. Nothing wrong there at all guys.

I can only assume the same of this comparison site.

Why is it N.S.W never seems to have these free schemes. We also get ripped off on public holidays

If people look for cheaper providers why should the taxpayer pay them?
It is not the politians own money they are throwing around.

        It's called vote buying

    Thanks Cousin

I have done this in July, received my cheque in my mailbox within a month

  • I got my check in aug, it bounced, spent two months of constant calls and nagging and emails, I eventually got my check reissued and my $50
Was it worth it? Lol probably not but $50 is $50…

    • +1

The government bounced a $50 cheque?

      • The cheque that I received two days ago was a bank cheque. Perhaps as a result of bowtiehoon's badgering they have begun sending bank cheques.

Thanks. I did a comparison and possible savings of $300/year! Anyone has any feedback on Tango Electricity (formerly Pacific Hydro). Thanks in advance.

    • +2

I'm with Tango. Also due to people stating they were the cheapest on Ozbargain. Happy so far. No bullshit 'discounts' ie late payment penalties. No complaints here.

    • They were better if you managed to sign up before their rates went up mid-2017 (because prices are locked in for the length of the 2 year contract) but they're still pretty competitive, Momentum are probably the only ones who might offer a better rate.

  • My bill pdf wasn't acceptable apparently, I've sent off an email to delwp.vic.gov

    Anyone had similar?
