The 5.7L one is boss. Especially on the BBQ. Beef short rib ragu in the smoker for 4hrs is about the best thing I've put in my mouth.

      • What else do you normally use it for?

I've been interested in cast iron products - don't have any at the moment!

Roasts, slow braises and Indian curries like dal Makhani

      • lid on or off when in the smoker?

        • I leave the lid off for the first 30-60 minutes to get as much smoke as possible when it's strongest (I use lump charcoal as my main fuel, but throw on some soaked smoking wood/woodchips when it comes to temp). Then I put the lid on and slow braise until fall apart tender. The time of course varies according to the type of meat. Just check it every little while to stir and make sure you're not cooking it dry. If it is, just add more stock, wine, water or whatever is appropriate for the dish.
Oh, and I'll always cook indirect with a deflector or pizza stone for those sorts of things. Cast iron takes on and retains heat like nothing else.

Could you measure the internal dimensions of the 5.7L one for us? Even the official product page has nada.

        • If you can wait till the 15th January sure :-) I sold my house on Thursday and settlement on my purchase isn't till next month, so everything is in storage.

  • Thx op got all the baking tins… :)

@AussieGargain: I just added the 3.8L to the cart and go to checkout > leave the express shipping selected and click checkout again, shipster applied on the next page.

However I am looking to order a few items which take the shipping over $20, does Shiply not apply at all when the freight is above $20?

        • Try to make two orders, add two more pans, when the second order reach $30 you will get free delivery.

  • I cannot use Shipster either as it upgraded me to the express shipping with $20 extra. I cannot choose normal shipping.

    • same here

  • No luck for Wa delivery as it’s more than $20 and shipster won’t cover. :(

    • Same same, no combination appears to work with Shipster for WA

      • Only those $5 items are fine , free shipping once you hit $25

        • I dont know why I had to add 6 pans $30 for free shipping.

        • I've tried adding both 5 or 6 pans and no free shipping option available for Perth, even though I've logged into Kogan with my shipster email..

          • @cristobaljamesy: thats strange, i have no problem adding 5 and get free delivery with shipster to perth. maybe trial a different WA postcode?

  • Does anyone know if this will work on a ceramic glass cooktop?

  • Awesome… Shipping to WA kills it :(

  • stupidly cheap for a dutch oven but man those lids seem rubbish.

    • Au contraire, the lids are awesome. They double as a griddle so you can sear your roast before chucking it in the pot. Winning.

  • Cheaper to ship the 5.7L to WA than it is the 3.8L?? In the blue at least… seems the 5.7L in red is more expensive… must be a heavier colour!!!

Also available on Amazon (via Kogan still) but get 5% cashrewards. Blue colour only I think.
