Hotzone, it is just the problem of your Galaxy S. I know because I am using one too. But that does not equate to the whole Android experience. It was just something Samsung messed up inside the Galaxy S.

I've just picked up one from Hornsby (the last one, someone called about it while I was waiting to collect!), so I will be cancelling my order for one at Sydney CBD Strand Arcade store.

I'm out in the sticks (chinchilla) thats why I sent the missus to pick it up. I have iPhone 4 on Telstra and service is horrible during the evening/nights. Optus isn't too bad tho and was planning on buying prepaid sim but I can forget that now :) damn jb at underwood reckons they didn't have any in stock when I rang up. Does it use normal size sim or micro sim like iphone4???
That's a first, Optus being better than Telstra. It uses a normal-sized SIM.

Weird thing is same scree size and resolution, I can fit more icons and widgets onto the screen of the Nook than my Tab…..Just install Launcher Pro from the market… you can choose how many rows and columns you want.
If you want to make all the icons and everything smaller, root it with z4root, then download "LCDDensity for Root" from the market. 200dpi seems about right.
Cheers, I remembered something about that but hadnt gotten around to investigating. Stock Tab is pretty nice though.

I called JB in Carindale Brisbane and the guy had to call several JB. He called back and said there are none in stock and I can try ringing other JB branch so I went to WOW in Oxley and they had 1 unopened and 1 opened in stock which they said they will match JB and didn't want to give it for 345 as others had mentioned. Looks like this is good as sold out. Very good price unless you want to wait and see what prices the other tables will be released.
This is a great tablet, on par with Ipad (or better, if you are anti-Apple).

What's the difference between this old gtab with the upcoming one from samsung that news says will be $350?
There are a couple tablets flying around.
There is suppose to be a Galaxy Tab Pro, which is just a thinner version of the current tab. (I am not sure if this one is real or not, the source doesn't seem that creditble)
Another one is the WiFi only Galaxy Tab which is available on Amazon now.
Obviously there are the brand new Honeycomb tabs as well.
I start to wonder … if Samsung Galaxy Tab drops to $350, what happens to those $2xx Optus and Telstra tabs …
Just picked up the last one from JB Hifi at Warringah Mall, Sydney. It's Telstra branded. They didn't know it was $360 until I rang up and reserved one – had to ask them to scan it at that price.
Pretty pleased with the tablet so far. Having real Divx compatibility is a huge plus.
The only problem is I have an Optus sim that I'd like to use in it. I can insert the sim and make calls, but it won't connect to 3G – so I can't browse the internet. I've read that this could be due to their being two different models for the different mobile networks.
Does anyone know if this is a hardware issue or a software problem that can be unlocked?
If it's unfixable… I don't suppose there's anyone out there looking to pickup a Tab? :)
I just inserted my Optus/Exetel SIM into the Telstra-branded Galaxy Tab and it picks up 3G right away. You wouldn't happen to be in a remote area, would you?

i just got my SGT and i cant seem to use the net using wireless. I dont have a sim card inserted, its connected to wireless AP and has an IP as i can ping it from pc's CMD prompt. I've tried static and dhcp ips. I dont know what else to try, anyone else have same prob with SGT (telstra) ???
Aren't Apple those guys who sell their products at 200% premiums, run sweatshops all over Asia, and have trouble making their gizmos work? Think i will buy one of those Ipads anyways… not.

Had a play with the demo… definitely a lot more responsive than the crappier Optus and Telstra tablets… haven't tried movie playback though. Wifi is available, FYI once again.
Definitely looks very neat and feels comfie with one hand holding it.It is Telstra branded, however it appears to be unlocked. I tried my Vodafone Mobile Broadband simcard and other than having to set an APN in the Tab settings, it worked perfectly.

Nafe is correct — it is just Telstra branded, but unlocked and can be used with other provider's sim card. My understanding is that the only benefit of this is that Telstra customers can have NextG with this device.

Yes the new Galaxy Tab 10.1 has a… well, 10.1 inches screen, and it comes with Honeycomb pre-installed. Expected launch date was last heard to be mid April, like the Motorola Xoom.
There isn't many reliable, well built 7-inch tablet around so this tab is still considered a good buy, at this price… certainly not when it was priced at > $700…the only 10.1 inch tab out in april is the 10.1v which is exclusive to voda. And jb sells telstra products. If they are waiting for the new 10.1 slim that will be out some time june-july

THANKS JD!! All the stupid stores I called in WA kept telling me NOONE has any stock in WA but after reading JDs post I called up Enx100 and they had 2. I picked one up just now. There's ONE more remaining. If anyone wants it just call and ask for Michael. He's keen to offload the last one.
I've used both ipad and Gtab extensively. Ipad wins for me due to apps design and choice and larger screen. Both are high quality hardware. I don't like the samsung skin overlay on the gtab.
I use a Nexus One Cyanogen v7 android phone so I'm well aware of both app ecosystems. My 2 cents worth…
