Aberlour 12 Year Old Single Malt Whisky $66.51 @ Dan Murphy's eBay (Pick-up Only)

750
PICKUP10

Amazing drop for a pretty good price.

Normally around $90 when not on special. $73.90 at DM ebay store atm. Take another 10% off when selecting pickup and using pickup10 code.

Original PICKUP10 10% off Selected Sellers When You Pick Up In Store on eBay Deal Post

Edit: It seem like Dan Murphy sold to many bottle and are giving people a hard time buying it and selecting pick-up option. I just wasted 1 hour on ebay chat trying to resolve it but come to no solution.

Alternatively First Choice Liquor have this on sale for $74. Price come down to $66.60 using the same pick-up option and PICKUP10 voucher. It is only 9c more and you would be supporting the store that originally gave us the discount. Dan Murphy is merely undercutting them.

Got it for $63.90 directly from Dan’s by using the Amex online (targeted) offer + 2.50% cash back

    • can you please confirm the AMEX offer?

      • this…https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/421336

    • I tried it on DM site but still shows up as $73.90 after adding in my Amex card details. Any help?

      • You need to read the link carefully. Need to register for offer with AMEX. Rebate goes to your c.c.

  • Can confirm it's a great scotch.

  • is this still worth a punt if I'm not too fond of the more common Speysides? (Glenlivet, Glenfiddich, etc)

    • I like it better than glenfiddich. Haven't tried glenlivet so can't comment on that. I think it's a great price for a single malt that's great to drink straight or on the rocks.

It's more like an Islay than a Speyside.

      Try the A'bunadh though.

      • more Islay than Speyside is good enough for me. Might cheap out for now, but keep the A'bunadh on the radar.

        thanks.

  • Was waiting for an offer on this. Really good single malt whiskey especially for this price. Thanks OP

For a person who likes Jack Daniels standard run of the mill scotch, is this for me? I know that there are certain ways of drinking it etc. I have been keen on trying a single malt whiskey, but is this for newbies?

    • +1

It's a pretty easy drinker, but 'scotch' enough that you are definitely getting the proper experience.

You're clearly a noob eh, because you've spelled 'whisky' with an 'e' which is only legally allowable for Irish whiskey or in some rare Japanese blends. Maybe stick to the gut-rot Bourbon eh? /s.

So in full seriousness, Aberlour 12 is a lovely easy drinking scotch. I like it mixed with dry, which is sacrilege obviously, but on these deals it's cheap enough to buy as a mixer. It's not terribly complex or strong-flavoured, and it doesn't really benefit from lengthening with a drop or two of water, so that's why I would probably put it in the 'daily driver' occasional random drink category, or run it as a mix with ice on a hot day.

At this price I'd say definitely try it.

EDIT: apparently nobody saw the /s or jokes at the expense of snobs aren't allowed. Whatever. Water off a duck's back.

Hey mate, I would try Monkey Shoulder as a step up from Jack Daniels. If you like it, then consider trying different whiskies at a bar first, go to a proper whisky bar and ask the bartender what they recommend based on what you like etc. It's the most cost efficient and best way to try whisky without having to shell out for a whole bottle that you may not like. It also means the bartender probably will share great tips/knowledge about whisky which will help you on your whisky journey.

It's very hard for someone to recommend a whisky to someone without knowing what flavours they like. This is a fantastic whisky, it is a little peaty (smokey), and much harder hitting that JD/Monkey Shoulder. It's even a little bit sweet. At this price it's a great buy, although like I said it might be a waste of $60 for you. Try at a bar first!

Thanks for all the recommendations, yes, I'm an absolute n00b, but want to try some new things. Thanks for all your help

    • This would be a very adventurous step in the right direction, at $66 it can't hurt to give it a go.

It's nothing like the standard stuff you're used to though, it's pretty amazing for the price.

Very hard to not like this scotch. Its the type of drop that would appeal to the vast majority of whisky drinkers IMO. Very smooth and tasty. Certainly worthwhile loading up at this price.

    • +1

Agree completely. Have tried many scotches, cheap and single malt alike. I would have to rate this as my favourite to date: so tasty!

  • WoW, very cheap.. Tempting.

  • Why did someone report that it's expired? I just tried the code at checkout and it works - just as long as you select click and collect, otherwise selecting postage gives the error "This code can't be used with the delivery option you selected."

  • Damn, just bought 5 bottles at the Delivery price. Oh well, at least I don't have to get off my arse.

    • +1

Buy these and refund with the old receipt?

    • +1

Can you cancel and re-order? It works out to $35 just for the delivery given the price you paid.

      • Nah - it was a couple of days ago, it's on its way. Ah well, $74 is still a decent price. Usually I pay $85-90.

  • Sampled this at Dan's yesty. For this money it's a no brainer.

  • Thanks, gift for my brother in law sorted.

  • So I applied pickup10 and got charged full kick. Not happy Jan.

    • +2

My invoice says full charge but card charge was discounted. Maybe check your card?

      • You are on the money mate. CCard says discounted price charged.

    • +2

Did you select pick up option? If yes check your card/bank cause when using coupon on ebay, the invoice will be for the full amount but you only get charge the discounted price.

  • Is it same day pick up like click and collect on their website?

    • Ordered 2 hours ago from their eBay store and it's ready for pick up!

  • Not having luck using the code for this whiskey - results in an Ebay error. Works fine for the other deal though.

    • +2

Me too buddy, it seem like Dan Murphy sold to many bottle and are not willing to let people buy it anymore.

It's ironic cause i posted this deal yet i am unable to buy it now

Edit: If you live near a First Choice Liquor that have stock you can buy from here:

      https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Aberlour-12YO-Scotch-Whisky-700m…

It only cost 9c more than this deal.

      • Lesson is buy for yourself first and then share.

      • Awesome thanks heaps mate :)

  • I just wasted 1 hour on ebay chat trying to resolve it but come to no solution.

Ebay is dead. It's systems are poorly integrated with business needs and it failed to update in the last decade.
