Hmm wish I had 1K to waste right now cause I know what I'd buy :P

Doesn't seem that great of a bargain. You can get the next model up (the 3D 5xC7000 models) for basically the same price: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/42448 (that's for 58C7000 $1597, there are other links around for 50C7000 for ~$1100).

      Hi Carbon,

Different strokes - these are highly specced SLIM Panels - the other are 3D (not slim and different specs)

So really depends on what you are looking for - My personal opinion doesn't really matter :P

      ODS

      • +5

The C7000 panels are indeed slim - they're exactly the same dimensions as the C6500. AFAIK, everything about them is exactly the same as the C6500 just that the C6500 doesn't support 3D.

Tempted to neg for trying to mislead…..

        • -3

          Carbon,

Please advise where you have the dimensions from Samsung? As far as I can see - the specs are not loaded on the official Samsung site for the 7000 series.

          http://www.samsung.com/au/consumer/tv-audio-video/television…

          Under sizes it says: TBA???

As for "trying to mislead" please go ahead and Neg - its your prerogative.

If you want to buy 3D - then buy 3D - but i suggest you read this link first:

ODS, even if the user doesn't want 3D, the C7000 panel comes with the real black filter which in many situations is superior to the C6500. Why pay almost the same amount of money for the C6500 when you can get the extra functionality of the C7000?

The Samsung website doesn't state dimensions for the 58" C7000. It does however, if you have a look at the product information, state that the C7000 is "Ultra Slim" like the C6500.

        • +5

I accidentally +ve'd the ODS comment above, when I intended to -ve it. Please change my vote. It is totally unacceptable that somebody represents that a product they are selling is superior to another with no justification (and falsely so it seems).

Where is your proof that can justify your claim that the C6500 panels are slim and the C7000 panels are not? Also, in what way are the C6500 panels superior to the C7000 panels?

Here are the dimensions of both the C6500 and C7000 sets from the samsung manuals readily available off the Samsung website:

          Dimensions (WxDxH)
          PS50C6500: 1212.0 x 36.8 x 743.5 mm
          PS50C7000 - 1211.0 X 35.9 X 749.0 mm

          PS58C6500: 1390.5 x 36.8 x 844.5 mm
          PS58C7000 - 1388.0 X 35.9 X 849.0 mm

It appears that the C7000 panels are in fact thinner than the C6500 panels, contrary to your claims.

You would also want to amend your clearly misleading claim that the panels are 36mm thin, when even the Samsung html spec sheet says it to be 36.8mm (which is affirmed in the manual).

        • +1

I'll -ve the comment for you :). Bad PR skills on the rep's part anyway with that aggressive tone.

        • ODS, see others for comments regarding dimensions.

corgi, yep, I agree - no reason not to get the C7000 when it's at least as good as the C6500 and no more expensive.

I only just noticed that this is +delivery too, so negging now as this isn't a bargain and poor rep.

lol @ 600Hz - best marketing scam since PMPO

  • +2

3D is slim, I have one. I remember the good guy sell PS50C6500 as 798 couple months back, but I grabbed the 3D one from JB.

    • -1

      Hi Sky,

Does the Good Guys have them still? at that price?

      Like i mentioned - 3D isn't for everyone.

Sounds like you got a great buy.

  • 600Hz… my HiSense 42" bought 2 yrs ago has 100Hz, since when do they go pass 200Hz???

just a question awaiting to be answered not implying anything

    • White Flame,

As a copy and paste from a member below:

"Plasma TVs operate differently than an LCD HDTV because their plasma cells switch 1,000 times faster than the best LCD pixel. They do not need a 100/120 Hz refresh rate to compensate for induced motion artifacts because they don't produce these artifacts." (Yahoo.com)

No intention to mislead - its the information given from the website.

isn't this ozbargain? I see no Bargain here

  • +2

If I could vote I'd neg this deal. This is not a bargain. A month or so ago the 50" was selling for $750 (receipt on Whirlpool). This is over $1000 including delivery! Hz is only relevant for LCD screens.

    • Bargain Knight,

As above - not sure if the person that purchased the alleged $750 item above could buy one right now - but we have ours in stock.

Loss leaders are GREAT for the consumer.

Thanks for the information about the Frequency. Happy to learn something everyday.

      ODS.

  • yeah not a bargain you can get the panasoninc s series 50 inch plasma right now for $900 from any of the retailers (well they have $990 on the tag but you can get them down)

Also alot of ppl wont like me for this but Samsung although they produce a few very good products here and there and their screen resolution quality is excellent are really a teir 3 brand and have probably the worst fail rate along with the worst warranty dept in the industry.

  • -1

clearly not a bargain and misleading rep

  • Not a bargain. Plasma TV can be much cheaper than LCD. If this is a LCD TV it will be a bargain.

  • rep has nothing left to say

  • i dont think there is anything to say after 4 negs and 1 pos from the OP

  • WHAT A RIP OFF, I hope this ripoff rep gets BANNED for being a liar.
    3d models are super slim
