2nd gen.. wow.. must be around 6 years old, made in 2012…

The battery life must be less than 30min.

    • Actually, 2011. So at least 7 years old. I can't see why is this a bargain…

    • +3

30 Mins battery lifetime is NOT for our stocks.
Battery life for this model is about 2 hours on 75% performance
      and 3-6 hours on 25 - 50% performance

New battery life for this model on Acer advertisement is 8 hours Plus.

Brand New battery will be replaced for free if condition is under 1 hours.

    Business Laptop i3 2nd Gen

You'd have better luck at an Antiques store!

This is trying to palm off old laptops that noone wants anymore. There's a box of used laptops that haven't been touched in ages but are still newer than this!

First of all , price for sale is $190 only, and
Laptop is reliable and in perfect working condition with 6 months warranty. Based on my experience, this laptop with ssd is much faster than those 500 dollar Celeron new laptops or netbooks. It will be better than celeron or atom.
My point is , not everyone is required to buy the latest technology. if they just need daily use such as internet and music, this would be a good choice and price saving.

      • Trust me, the battery on this is dead. It's never leaving the desk. Regardless of what you say, batteries degrade a lot over 8 years.

Also, if you are paying $500 for a Celeron laptop you are doing it wrong.

I understand not everyone needs great technology but at the same time, 6 months warranty isn't a long time for something 8 years old. Something is going to happen soon with it.

Also just clicked on your link and glad you can upgrade it. $74 can give you 8GB ram + 240GB SSD.

It’s slower but not that much slower than current gen low end processors:

Yes, I would not worry about cpu for the price.
Good if you don't care much about battery life.

@OP - no use defending yourself on ozb
let the buyers buy and the haters hate :)

  • Hmmm, this one or this one…

    • If you don't mind your model being old, refurbished and quite heavy - go with this one. Just be aware it will conk out sooner than the other.

Celeron N3350 isn't good. Even the 2nd gen i3 will be better.

  • Buying older desktops and laptops are fine but the age and amount of care & type of usage is important.

With desktops buy branded (dell, hp) workstations (workstations last longer) and no older than 4 years. They will cost around $200 and can last another 4 years without issues.

With laptops, never buy a laptop older than 1.5 years (less than a year old is ideal). Too many things fail with laptops, hard drive life shortens could if laptop was bumped or dropped, internals would get hot and degrade quicker if it was used on bed (blocking vents) regularly. And battery certainly starts going down in 2 years.

I disagree. I buy all laptops from eBay and the most recent one I purchased was seven years old when I bought it and I use it for about 100 hours a week. I only buy business laptops and rarely have issues. Hard drives and batteries are usually easily replaced.

      • I was talking about people who just need a working laptop/desktop, the ones who want to save money when buying and not have to spend more with upgrades. How many non tech.people do you know who changed hard drives? Try going to any of the shops and ask for an old laptop battery. Either it is not available or pay crazy amount for one.

You can buy laptop batteries on eBay - even for old models and for most laptops you just have to slide two latches to release the old battery and put the new battery in place. I just had a look on eBay and for example batteries for an 11 year old Dell Vostro 1000 are readily available for $30. It looks like you can get batteries for the advertised laptop for $30 as well.

For laptops that were popular when they were released, it should be no problem getting cheap replacement batteries.
