  • Shocking shocking phone.

    • Experience personally?? Wondering why, based on what?

      • +2

probably just based on brand discrimination

        • +1

Yep, you've probably hit the nail on the head there.

Not so long ago brands like Huawei, Oppo, Xiaomi ect were largely unheard of some years ago for the mainstream, and they

also built up a good name beginning with low cost entry/mid level devices, quickly building on their success.

          • @ozhunter68: No, it's based on past experience.

            • +1

@Fabio08: OK, can you tell us more so we can all learn from your experience. And also what other phone your comparing it to.

              • +1

@ozhunter68: I probably should have made it clear that this is based on my previous experience with UMDIGI and not this current model.

In any case, the phone was a complete lie. Many of the features it promised were not delivered, the reviews online were fake, the phone completely failed within 2 weeks and the replacement lasted not much longer than that.

People comparing it to Xiaomi have never owned an UMDIGI clearly as they couldn't be further apart. Xiaomi tried to earn the trust of the market, these guys have done the opposite.

I replaced the phone with a Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 and am now using a Redmi Note 5 with a Redmi Note 6 on the way. I love affordable phones and new brands but would not waste a cent on UMDIGI personally.

                • @Fabio08: Wow, thanks! Sounds like you had genuinely bad experiences with this brand, I am not considering buying one yet, it took me over a year to get a Xiaomi phone ( or any brand phone direct from China, Period ), reading lot's here and reviews on youtube etc, and finally dived in and got a Note 4 after missing out on a Note 4 Kate edition. Really like the Note 4 and now have a Mi A2 on the way.

I will heed your advice on this brand and keep reading about them lol.

          • +1

@ozhunter68: yeh youre right, Huawei Oppo and Xiaomi those guys have been churning out quality phones right from the get go, it was matter of time for them to make it big, but these guys? Umidigi and Umi prior to the rename, are horrible bordering fraud, their past phones from the very beginning were such poor quality, very different to the aforementioned brands. cant see how this particular phone is any different to their previous disasters.

            • @Balls: That's two people now. I love reading the comments on here as I have/still learn so much from the real world

( unlike some fake reviews lol ).

      • I had the previous model….. didnt like it.. Tried to give it away, and all 3 ppl that took it gave it back after a few weeks! Difficult to go from flagship to this, but its a fraction of the cost!

        Hope this one is better.

        • Thanks for your feedback.

Don't think anyone in their right mind is comparing this phone to a current flagship phone, hell,…not even mid range price wise.

  • Thought I'd be the first to say Yes, this phone has both NFC and B 28b ( used in Australia ), oh,…and as a bonus even has B28a too lol.

Looks ok for the price though. An upcoming brand indeed.

    • Only if it had a SD660 or similar Snapdragon SoC

      • +1

Using MediaTek is how they keep the cost low. Otherwise they'd have to be mass producing larger numbers and reduce their profit margins significantly like Xiaomi. A benefit MTK has is that the license costs to unlock more bands is considerable cheaper than Qualcomm.

      • +1

UMIDIGI Z2 pro has P60 CPU which has similar performance as SD660 - Antutu score of 130K

        • +1

          Both correct.

Say, compared to a Xiaomi Mi A2 you might get less performance with this chip, but you do get other nice features like bigger battery, B28 ( and many other bands too handy for o.s travelling ), larger screen ( although less pixels, but that will claw back some performance ), and let's not forget the latest OzBargain Mobile Phone Favourite must have,…NFC.

Of course this does not run Android One, but still clean Android.

P.S. I have a Mi A2 on the way as I have been really impressed with both my Redmi Note 4 and all the Free/Cheap Kogan starter sims ( Vodafone works a bit better usually where I live than Telstra/Optus, so loving the included B5 which helps me here to get better Vodafone reception ).

  • Please post deal on Umidigi z2 Pro

  • umidigi z2/z2 pro had shocking camera firmware. But I've heard it's been fixed now? Can't confirm though.

P23 isn't bad actually. Plus the light UI, these are great phones. But This has 720p screen…

    • That screen resolution would have helped to keep the costs down, but it is a sizeable 6.3", let's hope it's a decent quality screen with good

brightness and colour contrast. Reading the reviews on the Mi A2 although being FHD+, the quality is nothing to write home about.

If it is as good as my RN4 I will be happy though.

      • The z2 non-pro is similarly priced on gearbest, that has a FHD screen. But no NFC…

Maybe the next iteration (z3) will have everything for a similar price…

Mi A2 is a great phone.

        • Thanks. Looking forwards to my A2, have you seen one in the flesh yourself? Any feedback on the screen quality for

          colours and brightness?

          • @ozhunter68: I've read a couple of reviews. Screen detail is great, not overly saturated colours. But i think brightness isn't it's strong feature, so you may have issues out in the sun.

But saw some great camera samples and of course, android one.

It doesn't have nfc/microsd expansion though, so it's not for me.

Currently rocking an xz premium from Virgin Mobile. Happy to wait what 5g phones come next year.

            • @mbck: That pretty much confirms what I read about it so far.

Will not be using it as my main phone, just keeping it in the house and travelling ( using it as a media device on wifi

or Kogan sims, replacing my Note 4 lol ), my HTC 10 still kicking well, and a Nokia 6.1 waiting to take it's place next

year when the battery starts to weaken in the HTC.

              • @ozhunter68: Ah we're HTC bros. I've got the m8 and the m9. Beautiful made phones. Merry Christmas to you and your fam mate.

                • +1

@mbck: Ran out of Votes ( +"s of course haha ), but wanted to acknowledge your comment positively :-)

    • +1

UMDIGI ported the Google Camera to the Z2 months ago. I would hope that fixes the problem of the stock app being crap.

  • +3

I got the Umidigi one pro last week and overall been great, im rural and band 28 works well. NFC works well, finger print and face detection works really well. Battery could be better but fast charge is amazing and overall for $200 delivered can not fault it. I had the Xiamio Note 5 pro and find the Umidigi to be much better. Plus stock Andriod is a much better experience.

    • Thanks for honest feedback. Seems people either love or or hate it.

    • -1

"fitzy87" not sure if your feedback is honest or not. but helps with the overall ballance, currently sitting on 33.4 % positive and 66.something % ( don't like the 6 ses in a row lol ) negative, I will keep an eye out.

    • Is the dual camera working? There's a YouTube review on their Z2 Pro model that only one camera is working. The other one is just there and does nothing.

  • Pre Purchased a Crystal from this manufacturer last year. Awful phone, ROM releases stopped almost instantly and before they were stable, random restarts at all times including during calls, atrocious GPS accuracy, high battery usage even when not being used, OTA update that perma bricked many of the phones.

All around shitty experience, has put me off buying phones from overseas, will never recommend this brand to anyone that isn't a frenemy.

Your mileage may vary, good luck!

  • Just a warning this seller is pretty hopeless. Accepted payment and never sent the item. Didn't respond to any emails until I lodged a Paypal dispute, saying it's out of stock, even though the item is still on their website after all these weeks. Instead of refunding me straight away, they wanted me to buy something else and pay the difference. And now they want me to close the case before they refund me, even though the case would automatically close if they simply refund through paypal anyway. Extremely dodgy. This was my first and last experience with this seller.
