Activate the supplied SIM if you're not already with Optus or Amaysim then you should be able to unlock for free with this method thanks to @Fybre.

    • Anyone know if this phone could also be unlocked?

      • Most likely you can using the same method but I'd definitely recommend buying this one for not much more.

      • Before Christmas, I unlocked two phones (Optus X Pro and X Go) for free using new Amaysim numbers. However, when I tried to unlock another Optus X Go last week, Optus wanted to charge me $25. It seems like they’ve changed something.

Got it for $1 from Amaysim 3G shutdown. Very laggy phone not recommended. Wifi can only connect to 2.4G

    • Different phone. That was the 4G model.

I love the read mode happily using it as a E-reader.

      • It's actually pretty usable all round as long as you kill apps from staying open in the background. Using it now, works fine for checking OzB & watching YT. It's great having FM radio too.

It's one of the reasons I've posted the 5G model a few times because I was impressed with the 4G model. Build quality is good & they come with heaps of features.

Max ill pay for an X Pro is a buck

  • Would this be reasonable if used as a 5G modem?

    • Member @CeraVe has one so might be able to help?

    read the specs at https://www.gsmarena.com/zte_blade_a73_5g-12611.php
and thought: huh, that is really surprisingly good spec with that SOC. TSMC N6 so its par with all other "6nm" SOC for efficiency, 4 big A76 cores is more than some snapdragon 6s offer on 300$ phones, G57MC4 is tier above this pricing too. Elsewhere, 4gb RAM and appropriate camera performance given the price makes this a good phone for old people more than anything. Things they want to do won't lag due to the pretty powerful CPU, but there won't be much multitasking or photography. screen seem adequate, 90hz even, although the brightness is not known. Also this is likely to be stuck on android 14, which is also ok.

  • Also available at Coles for $139. Will probably end on the 25th.
