Does it come with tax invoice? For TRS purpose.

    Thanks

    • I have no idea sorry. Not even sure how reputable the store is..

    • TRS is doubtful.

PSA: bought a pocophone in an eBay sale a few weeks back and I'm loving it. Great battery life, screen and performance, though the mic suffers a bit. Few issues include no notification icons in the top bar (fix coming in next miui version apparently), and the finger sensor is too eager (phone vibrates as a failed unlock when I put it in my pocket half the time), but otherwise I'm very happy, especially for the price.

    • Do you miss not having band 28 with the device? I've always had band 28 on my phones and it seems like everyone on ozbargain values it highly. I wonder how necessary it is in metropolitan areas

      • +23

not as big a deal in metro areas unless you are surrounded by concrete ….I have a double brick house so between me and the tower are about 6 walls, makes a difference.

in regional areas it's a big deal, found that out during last holidays as my son with his Xiaomi (no band 28) had to tether off my phone which had band 28 during our holidays …. at the holiday house we used a wireless modem with band 28.

If you are just driving around melbourne and sitting in cafes, pubs, office etc not an issue.

The beauty of band 28 is the low frequency, so it goes through solid mass better (walls) and has longer distance, band 28 used to be used by the old analog TV network and when you think about how far TV signals used to travel you an idea about why some people need it.

After they moved us to digital TV, they sold part of the spectrum to the Telcos.

5G is high frequency, so when that rolls out there will be some challenges based on distances from towers for users.

that's one hella great reply and explanation, tks!

        • Thanks heaps for the info…

Do you know if Band28 mainly helps with Data or also improves voice quality?

For example, we have two Xiaomi devices, both without B28 and we use Aldi (Telstra) network. Inside our home we have 4G coverage however voice quality is really bad… I wonder if the voice call quality will improve if we switch to Telstra full network with 4GX/B28/VOLTE along with compatible devices?

          • +1

@Bappy: It might improve, but maybe not much or even at all. The full Telstra 4GX uses all the same 4G towers/bands as any Testra re-seller ( although speeds are supposedto be capped lower ), but Telstra uses some extra 3G/850mHz base stations ( used for both data and voice/txt ).

You need to get an app that shows which towers are running what frequency bands in your required areas, then go from there. I also suggest comparing a friends similar device on Telstra with the Aldi sided by side at the same time ( keeping in mind different models do vary in signal strength/pick up, so maybe swap around sims a few times to compare ).

If only it had NFC I'd grab one.

I just went with nokia 7 plus, I'm on Android pie (OTA updated), band 28, NFC, and it's Androids One and treble compliant so got October 2018 security update already OTA.

Maybe the xiaomi 8 Lite global version would be suitable for you?

      • Good phone. Had my lite for a week now and really like it. Runs very well and 128gb storage is great. No NFC, but oh well

    • same…

  • Nice phone. Am typing on one now.
Does anyone know what you call the type of plug. Thought it was like Samsung/Motorola etc charger. Think it's called usb-c. But this one is different

    • +2

It's a USB-C connection, what makes you think it is different?

      • Hi, thanks. Well I just learnt something. What I thought was ucb-c all this time is actually "micro usb". You are correct, it is usb-c.

  • Can you watch Netflix on it yet?
I believe that was an issue when it came out. Fixed?

    • +2

Netflix works, but you're restricted to 720p.

Slap a fruity logo on it and double the price. ;)

        • "Quadruple"

  • Nvm.Seems they are in HK (god knows how long free shipping takes)

    • Economy Express Shipping Time: 6-8 Working Days*

They don't have free shipping, its only for orders over 50. And if its below, they charge an extra 15. For priority shipping, it is an extra 25.

  • Anyone bought from these people before?

    • They can be had for similar prices through eBay now with the 10% off sitewide sale. I'd probably look there first as eBay would likely have better buyer protection

  • Big notch at top, huge bazel at bottom.

The MKBHD blind camera test is interesting, this phone came out on top..
