Can anyone please clarify where I redeem the code for an Android device? Have it installed and tried to redeem the FREEAPP code for the Premium and Pro versions but get an error.

    Thanks!

Edit: Tried in app and on Google Play Store and same error.

"Redeem a Code" after clicking on the wheel (LHS)

      • Got it! Thanks heaps!

      • I can't find a wheel.
        Any hints?

        • Sorry, not the wheel, the burger!

          Hope you found it.

Any way of retaining PRO version after uninstalling?
Just tried and had to enter code again, as it reverted to free after a reinstall.

    Thanks

    • +1

Not sure but maybe create a user account? It says you can then login from any of your devices so you would think it would save your full access.

      • +1

Used facebook to create a user account, logging in and out retains the Pro version. Not sure if I uninstall though… should be fine.

  • Anyone want to help this dumbo on how to redeem this free app on iOS??

How do you redeem a code with iOS?

    Nevermind, I found how HERE.

  • +1

I redeemed the code for my IOS devices by going here. https://www.ulmon.com/voucher-code-redeem/

  • Confirmed. cold. working here to thanks

  • Thanks…..

  • cool, thanks

  • Already had free version downloaded, and there is nowhere on it says redeem

    • You don't see 'Redeem a code' if you pop out the menu from the left (by pressing the hamburger/three-line icon in the top left)? If not, might need to make sure you're on the latest version of the app.

      • Have the latest version of the app…at least that's what My Apps & Games says…updated 3 days ago
        Maybe uninstall/reinstall?

        • Are you sure it's the same app? This one was last updated on 20 September:

          https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ulmon.andr…

          • @dazweeja: Yeh…whe\n I click the link it says installed

            • @noggon: ok…so I go into Account on Playstore, then order history and found I already had Pro installed…thats why no option'to Redeem… pity they don't tell you that when you go to the Pro app in Playstore.
              Thanks for your help

I'll just take this opportunity to comment that the inadequacy of maps like CityMaps2Go and MAPS.ME highlight the dire situation we're in with OpenStreetMaps (OSM) geocoding at the moment. The irony is that Mapbox, which CityMaps2Go uses to display their maps, themselves use the OpenAddresses database (in addition to OSM), which also gives us house numbering in Australia. Of course not having this data makes the map sizes more manageable (compare with the Netherlands) so it's not all bad. Just a handful of reasons OSM data is so bad in certain areas include (a) governments won't let them use the official government database, (b) governments will let them use the information but with a terms of use, (c) the postal or address data is privatised in a certain country, (d) OSM only takes visual evidence (so the fact a business address appears on a websites isn't good enough), (e) they don't extrapolate street numbering data like Bing and Google resort to, etc, etc.

The reason I bring this up is because this year Google released new pricing for their Google Maps API and geocoding alone basically costs 2 cents a search for startups now (if you ignore the free credit). As a business they're free to do what they want and profit from a service that was probably costing them money, but it's just one of many examples how strict government policies and copyright laws can lead us into unexpected situations to the detriment of everyone (like it being illegal to publish photos of the Eiffel Tower taken at night without proper authorisation).

    • Good insight

Now I’m so tempted to link to my photo of the Eiffel Tower at night!
      Oh noes here it is
      (don’t tell Scotty #scottydoesntknow)
      ((also pictured is Venus))

      • Reported you to interpol. Good luck friend

      • muncan: Aren't you aware the Venus Government also do NOT allow photos of their planet? Don't say you were not warned!

(I hope my alien overlords are pleased with my diligence and spare me from their impending wrath.)

      • Great shot

You can download off-line maps on Google Maps before you leave. I would rather do that

    • +2

That isn't supported in every country

      • Ah I was not aware. In that case this app would have some definite benefit.

  • I presume this won't last if you change your device?

    • It should if you sign in to the app

  • Might be silly but can any expert compare this with Google maps? Just trying to avoid similar apps if possible.

    • You can save an area of Google Maps offline in the app for a month. Give it a go and turn off your cellular, and report back.

      • Only for supported countries.

Japan, Korea, China, and Taiwan are examples of places where you cannot download maps with Google

  • I only could download one map before with free version. Now with this code I can download as many map as possible?

  • How does this compare with the free Here Wego App?

  • +1

I didn't realise but I was already a Pro member, so this code didn't do anything for me… But when I opened the app it said I can download the newer app and get free premium (better than Pro)! Score!

  • Upgraded to Pro version after redeeming the code but it doesn't allow me to download more than one map and the upgrade ad is still shown.

Edit: Sorted after creating an account

  • Some limitations observed, Bangkok and surrounds, it only gives you the names of the main roads, not all the little soi's,
    which google covers.

  • I tried the code 5 mins ago and it still works.

  • The code still works on Android. Thanks.

  • FREEAPP code upgrade to the pro version worked on my Android. Thanks jjjaar

Why dont just use Google map? you can download for offline use…omg

    • -2

Why don't you just read some comments above as this has been asked and answered multiple times…OMG

  • Redeemed last week on iOS and was on Pro by default without needing to enter any promo codes.
Really annoying notifications to upgrade to premium though so remember to disable notifications
