This is my first post. Very tempting to sign the contract, but don't know if Huawei P20 pro is a good phone or not.But 80GB of data is huge.
Minimum cost over 24 months: $1,320.

what does your app show?mine shows $65/month with $500 phone credit(I didn't receive any of this)
doesn't mention $10 credit/m
@028: Yes, $65, but that should be fine.
@Make it so: ok thanks.hope the bill will be correct.so what does the $500 phone credit mean?did you receive that?
btw cancelling my home broadband tomorrow.
@028: It's how much they discounted the phone by. You would have to pay it back on early exit, I believe.
@Make it so: Ive read thru the info again,I think the $500 is a credit offered for selected phone when sign up with $65 plan,it can be used on the same transaction with the plan purchase to buy any phone, not valid otherwise, only with the plan.p20 pro is the only phone offered with $0 upfront after the $500 credit applied.then if switched from another carrier to Telstra, will receive another $10/m credit.
@a1234my: see above
Are they likely to give a better deal if you port 2 numbers across to this plan? just curious because im considering moving my wife and I across.
Also very curious about Fitzy777 statement above about the Mate20.
I bought a nice HuaWei from GuanZhou last year, beautiful photos.
But I havent been able to install Google Calendar and Contacts. Have tried many methods includings steps found in China website in Chinese language.
Any help?
Pretty hard to install Google service to Chinese Rom's Huawei,I bought new Honor 8X Max for around $260 last month in China, can't get Google service either. Xiaomi is very easy.
Tried to do for wife but she's boost and apparently prepaids using the telstra network can't do it. Has to be a new service or from another network. Can an associated jb rep confirm this is correct?
So I gather an Aldi port in wouldn't work either?
Aldi should in theory, boost will not as it basically is Telstra with a different brand name on the front but the backend is all the same.
we ported from Telechoice which uses Telstra network.
Anything but Telstra/Boost should work. Telstra wholesale customers like Aldi should work fine.
Belong does not work too.
Struggling to decide whether this is worth it or whether I should wait for new deals that may come up for the Samsung S9, the Pixel 3 or the Mate20 Pro on the Telstra/Optus network. Anyone got any thoughts?
Depends on your current phone and plan and if you really need to upgrade. 80 Gigs is excessive but telstra has great coverage.
At the moment I'm roughing it out on an iPhone 5S with Optus' prepaid network
How much do you need telstra coverage, how much data do you use and how much does your camera matter to you?
Photo quality really matters to me which is why I upgraded to the p20 Pro. I just bought a Huawei Nova 3i $365 delivered from Bing Lee last week (next cheapest is $400 at Costco) and I highly recommend that phone, for the low cost its amazing and has everything I needed.
Get a Koran 365 day plan at 40-50% off and you have a solid bargain.
@Tuftsdude: I do really need Telstra/Optus coverage because they are the only providers I get decent reception with at home + consistently elsewhere. I don't use a lot of data, but if I had a decent phone I would.
Photo quality doesn't really matter to me, rather I'm just looking for a quality phone that will last me 2-3 (or even 4) years whilst staying snappy with a good user experience.
And this $55/pm plan seems like a really good deal because most flagships such as the Pixel, S9, etc often are around $70+/pm for a decent amount of data. And honestly I'm not willing to pay anymore than $60/pm for a phone plan.
How are you enjoying the P20?
@Hawi: Alright, fair enough. The P20 is great but there are a lot of things I miss from the Huawei Nova 3i. I haven't used it much but this phone is great. I normally spend a lot of time on the phone and for a lot less ($365 delivered) I feel the Nova 3i was a lot better because of its price and quality.
In saying that this phone is great, it would be nice if it was a bit lighter though. Apparently battery life is better on this too but I haven't used the phone long enough to say so myself.
I have been waiting for good deal for Mate20 pro for a long time, optus is the cheapest $85/m, but it still too much to me.
If you look at pixel xl and pixel 2xl deals with Telstra, both were offered at $59/month in the February following their release… If this trend continues, pixel 3xl should be available in 2 months with the $59 Telstra family and friends deal
I didn't know the XL was offered on the 59 plan? I thought it was only the Pixel 2 which is what I signed up for :(
anyone using it? how's the battery life?
Read here down.
i got the phone yesterday, i am a high user, my battery now is 75% as now 11.57am(it was 100% at 7am)
I'm currently with Telstra but out of contract. What's the best way to port out then port back in with this deal?
Thanks!
You need to be out of Telstra for at-least 30 days.
I signed this up yesterday in JB HiFi, gorgeous phone, i like it.
JB actually gave me official receipt with $999 inc GST(I pay $0 yesterday), anyone willing to go oversea this Xmas can also claim $91 GST back if sign this up.
Good deal.
No Card slot and no headphone jack !
Camera is supposed to be excellent though - better than iPhone and Pixel apparently.
could anyone who bought it share that if the package comes with a clear case already? (and screen protector already?). Cheers.
yes, it come with both clear case and screen protector already
FYI i had a quick look on XDA, did not seem to have a lot of cust. roms around for this model.
Just got one at Warringah Mall (Sydney), also comes with a $100 gift card
Nice, tried for the gift card but the staff wouldn't gave mine cause she said they already subsidising the phone cost
Receipts here if anyone wants to try
So with this deal, you pay 0 up front, but you'll get a $999 tax invoice for the phone?
That's right

That's funny. I remember something about the NSA doing something dodgy.
NSA is butt hurt!
Very happy with this deal. Was initially going to go for the $45 50gb plan with $200 gift card. But the price reduction of this plan plus the free phone sealed the deal for me. I just sold the phone for $800 pickup via the forums which effectively makes my plan a $21.67 BYO plan with 80gb data!
Picked it up today! Super keen.
Was speaking to one of the managers for a while, he told me that the deal apparently lasts until Monday. So if you can't make it until Monday there's no stress.
I tried today, and I didn't get any luck: the brisbane city Macarthur square store wouldn't do it.
I haven't actually picked mine up yet. I had to do a change of ownership on my optus network in order for it to match my telstra network. The manager from the store processed it all for me and they're just waiting for me to come back in with a change of ownership.
Hoping the deal still works.
Signed up today, perfect timing really! I've been looking for a new phone plan (was going to go with Kogan) and a new phone (tossing up between the p20 pro and the OnePlus 6t), and considering the price this seemed like the best deal by far.
The phone itself will likely take me a bit of time to get used to, coming from near stock Motorola phones for the past 4 years. I definitely prefer stock Android.
Very keen on the phone but can someone confirm that Wifi Calling works on this with Telstra?
I've read on whirlpool that it doesn't work which is a deal breaker for me cos the reception is bad in my area.
Cheers
So you pay 55 per month and the phone is free?
yes, it is.
this deal still valid on MOnday
hoping so, because I'll be going in-store after lunch (Monday) to try get the deal.
nope, the brisbane city Macarthur square store won't do it today.
@mduncan2: World square email hq and said yes but had to get a phone from another store
Has anyone successfully claim the $100 gift card?
I did, see my other reply for receipt.
I get rejected by the Telstra guy unfortunately
He said you cannot get both the free phone and the gift card
iChopstick is the lucky one lol
Btw @iChopstick your receipt image is in very low resolution so I cannot see anything from it, can you repost it so I can try my luck again?
tried and got denied! it is in the t&c's that the gift card is not with any other promo
I was hassling the sales rep on Saturday about the $100 gift card, showed him iChopstick's photo, He said can't do it because im are already getting the phone for free, signed up anyways, picked up the phone today. I think the girl at the register was training or something and thought I was buying the phone outright and gave me the $100 gift card without me asking haha scoreee!!
My first bill didn't include the $10 port-in credit. Anyone else have that problem?
mine showed correctly $55, I already paid.

any idea when will this offer finish?
Is this offer still on?
Yes they brought it back yesterday, now you can choose between MATE 20 or P20 PRO
What would the cost to cancel after 12 months be? Thats the question I want to know
How much rom in this anyone know ?
Anyone know if this/similar deal is coming back? Thought about it too much and missed the boat!
This deal still active
In store? The deal is gone from their webpage…
you are right
@dahax77: Same question here?
