      And now another year older……

      • Doesnt matter for Audio gear

    • Wow what a cracking deal this is for us Ozbargainers!

Yes, this is correct- however it was an advertising mistake made by JB-HiFi at the time. Onkyo did not supply them with any more brand new stock of this receiver and so they had to sell their ex-demo/ex-display.

You're now getting a brand new unit cheaper than anywhere else :)

Over 2,000 clicks, two members report purchasing and absolutely no mention of this.

        • +4

But that is now properly expired. How on earth is that a valid reason for a neg?

This deal seems to check out. About $900 or so on ebay.

Neg guidelines clearly require the other deal to be current: "The deal is not the cheapest available"

        • +1

Yes and with over 2,000 clicks only 2 members reported buying one.

We remember this sale very clearly and they had to pull the plug on it because no one could supply any stock aside from what they had initially.

As mentioned, you're now getting this receiver (almost identical to the Onkyo 686 without the THX badge) at a great price, and if you buy it with the speakers you'll be getting it for about $529 if you break it down :)

@FunkyDan: Crikey, just received a projector and a second set of Sennheiser headphones an hour ago that I have not reported purchasing yet.

Worked in the industry and can't stomach tattletales intent on running down the opposition.

Highly unlikely to purchase an Oinkyo AVR,especially a model that has already displayed a well known main board fault.

            • @Dave Id: Again? God, onkyo are cakeholes. Selling yet ANOTHER unit with consistent faults as though nothing is wrong. What a despicable company.

Got burnt last time with hdmi board issues. Was thinking about giving them another go.. No way in hell now. Not EVER

              • @justtoreply: Just found the one on Google for this model, when looking for something else.

Happens on many devices, including my Epson TW5300 PJ which Epson and Klapp (grabit_sales on eBay) refuse to fix or refund. A well known Epson problem dating back to PS3.

Hisense 50" TVs from 5 or 6 years ago also had an intermittent HDMI problem. Two went back.
Their 55" from then is a keeper though :)

@FunkyDan: Not true. JB ordered one in for me after it had sold for the same price.

            • @t123: Can also confirmed that JB ordered 2 units for me (one for me and one for a mate) at this price after they were sold out, I just had to go down there and pay for the order before the sale had ended to secure it at that price.

@justtoreply, what are the issues with this model/unit? I haven't had any yet (touch wood) and neither has my mate as far as I know, but it has me concerned now after seeing your post.

              • @Raptors: According to Dave Id, main board issues.

My issues were with an older model, hdmi board (actually, component video was the first to fail on me, but that was bad luck. Hdmi failures were systematic.. Bad engineering)

What was frustrating was that onkyo kept selling a product with known faults. I hope they're not doing it again..

Count me in as a +1 buying at $587. Harvey Norman QV price-matched the JBHi-Fi advert (which did not mention ex-demo/ex-display). HN did remark it was incredibly cheap but since the advertisement was legit they honoured it.

        • Crew over at Whirlpool had no problems purchasing at $587 from both JB and Hardly at the time.
          One returned his.

A couple of them actually accepted display stock.

Nothing like the situation Funky Dan has painted.

when 4k sony and jvc projector will be on deal

Please add the special price. It currently shows $699 which obviously cannot be the special price considering the JB Hifi link above.

You know, or that deal has expired.
