  • Can't find the size compare with Xiaomi.

  • Just ordered one. I don't even own a good umbrella. The ones I bought from kmart aren't storm proof. Fragile shit. :P
Need a good umbrella specially in Melbourne.

Seems to sell for more overseas. eBay listing says good for up to 60Mph winds!
For $9.99, can't complain, so ordered one.

    • Gonna have to test this out.

    Lifetime warranty. I'm sold.

  • Thanks OP, ordered one.

But that one doesn't say "QUALITY WORKMANSHIP" in all-caps.
      Doesn't instil the same confidence.

Sold out? Says its not available for me anymore.

    • That was quick :)

Can someone enlighten me what an automatic umbrella is supposed to be?

    • +2

You click the button for it to fully unfold. You can then click it again for the canopy to collapse. You have to push it in yourself to shorten it, and it is this strength that will be used next time to unfold it (spring).

      • -4

        So.. A normal umbrella?

        • Well, a normal umbreppa doesn't fully unfold automatically. Have to say, it's quite handy that if it starts bucketing down unexpected, you just have to press the button to be covered in less than a second. With a 'normal' umbrella you need to have two hands available, and it takes longer.

          • @Make it so: Do I live in another country or something because every umbrella I've had or seen has gone fully up in one motion

            • @Kozhutki:

I've had or seen has gone fully up in one motion

              Not auto close.

            • @Kozhutki: True, I have one like that, but I have to pull it close. The idea with these is that they both close and open with the button, though it does not retract.

              • @Make it so: Oh okay, I must have missed that they also close. My mistake. I definitely haven't seen one like this then.

            • @Kozhutki: Most compact umbrellas I've used require one hand to hold the base while the other to extend the umbrella.

        • Some umbrellas just extend and require you to manually expand it.

does it respond to urine? asking for a friend (donald trump)

  • Damn, needed a new good umbrella.

  • +1

Not necessarily a dig at the product, but I REALLY don't see the appeal, what's the benefit?
To me it seems like a solution to something that wasn't a problem. It literally takes a second to do what this umbrella does, manually. So why do people buy it? Novelty or do some people see it as a tedious task?
Maybe I'm just not a proper umbrella person, I've used one maybe three times this year.

As some have pointed out, the one hand operation can come in handy (intended). But yeah, I'm with you. I guess we are a lazy society though.

      • I have an old spring loaded unbrella, would open up one handed.

      • Fair enough. Might be an issue for some, but I don't think I've ever needed to close an umbrella and couldn't because I only had one free hand.
        Just do this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wLkOl0aUsxE

    • I'd say the opposite in that the "feature" is hardlya premium feature. Any umbrella I've found worth buying for the specs like durability and canopy size has always had this feature anyway.

Even the freebie work branded umbrella we got at a mass function (i.e. cheap bulk bought crap) had this feature.

  • Ugh dammit, this would of been ideal.

  • farrout.. missed out. broke my umbrella after bad weather last wk.
any other recommendation for strong n durable umbrella? looking from travel and full size ones..

    • +1

We like the korjo umbrella.Strong and Durable.Free delivery with shipster if you buy 2.

      https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/korjo-travel-umbrella/

      • I can vouch for the Korjo. Won't do anything for your street cred, but it's a good quality compact umbrella. Was previous discussed here.

      • I bought one of these at the airport once, when we realised we did not bring any umbrella and were travelling to a wet place. Must have owned it for 6 years or so, and it never broke. The reason I had to get rid of it was because after a great many years of service, it lost its waterproofness. I remember walking in pouring rain in Japan for over an hour, and it started raining underneath my umbrella. It was at that stage we decided it was time to get a new one.

        • +1

Probably could have just applied some sort of waterproofing agent on it like Scotchguard or similar…

      • will it spy on me?

  • Dang. Missed out
