Was looking around for this backpack considering it has gotten good reviews, and that I needed one for my upcoming travels.

Have not seen it this cheap for the latest version.

    Good choice. Great bag.

  • Vendor in title please.

  • Osprey are a great brand, and I believe they do life time guarantee.

I have this 3 years now and its fantastic. Use as carry on everywhere too though sometimes you gotta be creative to keep the thickness down especially in parts of US/EU (wear more, use pockets). Great bag and brand.

Good price. Me and the missus went to Japan for 3 weeks and each of us had the smaller 30 litre version of this bag. 30l was fine for the whole trip, even in winter, with a small day bag. Was great not to have any check in luggage. When we were wandering it was easy as we weren’t carrying much.

Very well made bag with a good setup inside. Easy to recommend.

Agree. Have used the 30L and prefer it due to structure which just seems to hold so much more especially when using real compression bags. The real issue is more weight. At 30L it is easy to tip 10kgs+ once fully loaded.

Honestly the BEST back pack in the game for the last half decade or so.
    legal carry-on limit when flying.

    OSPREY PORTER, can't go wrong.
Can get it cheaper from around low $100's

      How to get under 100

Old model sells for around 120

      • Got mine in 2013 (old model, new model wasn't out yet at that time) at Paddy Pallin's christmas sale. Was $103.96 down from $129.95.
Might be worth waiting to see if it'll be on sale this year?

Osprey has been great. Had some clips break while I was backpacking around the world. Osprey posted replacement parts to me once I sent them a photo of the broken plastic clips.

  • I’ve bought plenty of backpacks but I’ve gotta say I haven’t bought a new one since I got the Osprey 2 years ago.
They are simply the best, material is great and the design and functionality is top notch

    • Do you think the quality is better than Crumpler or Macpac?

      • Yes. Macpac used to be by far the best quality when they were manufactured on NZ. But they are lower quality than Osprey now. Crumpler are well behind.

        • Hi,

          What about Blackwolfs?

        • I have a macpac similar to this one which I brought in 2006 and is still going strong after using it exentively every year. I wouldn't be surprised if standards had dropped since the private equity buyout.

        • Been off Macpac since they refused to replace a $6 waist buckle lost during transit a few years ago. Was brand new and they implied it was my fault. $6 bloody buckle after I spent hundreds. Thinking of going somewhere else after this.

  • Yeah this bag is awesome I played around with a few different sellers on eBay and got the wrong older model which had poor laptop placement on the bag,

Oaprey Farpoint 40L might be a better option for most.
Traveled to France, Italy and Switzerland back on July with Farpoint packed to full capacity. Carry on all the time with no check in at all. Light and comfortable. It also got better reviews than Porter.

    • Yes you are right I have bought one last time in May this year on good discount price.

    • yeah was going to say the farpoint is reviewed to feel much better due to its padding

  • Another +1 for this bag!

I never check in anymore and do all my trips carry on only with this backpack.

It's the maximum allowable carry on size and is fairly light to maximise the carry on limits some Airlines impose.

The new one has the laptop spot in the right place. This bag surprisingly good so much in it!

    Love this bag
