Another sale from ebay US though this doesn't go live till 3am.

  • Thanks Chibot….been waiting for this !

  • Any recommended freight forwarders ?

    • +29

I've used Planet Express multiple times and they're excellent.

      • Do all items on US eBay need freight forwarders or are there some that ship to Aus?

      • +30

Planet Express? As in Leela, Fry and Bender delivered your items?

      • +2

can recommend this!! it also comes with your own blackjack and h**ker

      • mate can planet express circumvent the "extra 10%" tax BS

        • +1

I've not been charged it so far but have only shipped low value stuff from the US (<US$40)

      • great infor.

may i ask how much they charge for shipping a 1kg parcel?

    • +1

Have just used MyUS - if you google Mastercard myUS you can get a premium account for 2 years (obviously need a MasterCard). Bought 3 pairs of shoes that weighted in at 11.1lbs - cost $77 US or $114 changed to my no fees card.

Edit - expected delivery 8 business days (5 December)

    • +4

I don't recommend 'shipito'. Very poor customer service. Which is a pity, because last time I used them a couple of years ago, they were quite good.

      • +2

Agreed. Switched to Planet Express myself.

      • +2

Over the past 5 years I've had terrible experiences with Shipito. I've had items lost when they arrive at the warehouse, items lost when they are in my storage container, items lost during the package consolidation (when they are being packed), items damaged because their staff refuse to wrap items in bubble wrap.. they put a loose piece on top of the contents. I've even had the entire contents of my storage container mistakenly disposed of.
Every single package I've had sent from them has arrived damaged or missing items. Even when you pay extra for increased insurance, the company spends makes it incredibly difficult to honour an insurance claim due to their extremely rigid policies.
I've wasted months dealing with the head of customer service for Shipito. They are incredibly narcissistic.. they actually make bankers from the royal commission look human-like.. or the likes of Telstra / Gearbest / any government agency, etc. seem like customer focused companies.

  • Can I use this to purchase items in aus?

    • Based on previous deals, yes. It all depends on what eBay define as "eligible items" though.

      • -2

        Move to US address ?

  • Any chance ebay plus' free return could work if I purchase under ebay us?

    • No chance

  • Why does Ebay US always have better discounts than us Au?

  • +2

I'm going to try and get the Kindle from Good Guys @ $179 AUD with a further ~25% off hopefully.

    • Was thinking about this too. Let us know how you go.

    • +1

Jeeves might hint that it'll be ~$35.25 AUD max off

    • Any luck with the discount on the kindle from goodguys?

  • +2

Do I need to create an actual US account (eBay, PayPal) or can just change the account information to US? last time I did and somehow they discovered a few of my account and they block all of them said "abuse their system" LOL

    • +1

Have a US registered account, with a US address(freight forwarding ones are good) have your real address as the secondary, but make it your primary delivery address.
      Paypal doesn't matter

      • What did you use for phone number?
Ebay wont accept my Myus number.

Edit: it accepted my Australian number.

  • +17

now this is a bargain, not like dirty ebay au and their shit arse 10% off, min spend $120 WTF?!?!?!?!

    • +1

This is likely more similar to the vendor specific sales, ie not sitewide and probably few things that will ship to Australia. But hard to say for sure yet.

PS: I'd take the bigger minimum over the lower maximum any day

      • +2

i hear you and good point. how's about one time your way and one time my way. everyone wins :)

      • +3

You do realise you don’t actually have to buy things from America don’t you? Just take whatever the link is from eBay.com.au and just remove the .au part of the URL and you can buy it there.

It’ll show in US$ but will be charged in AU$ and posted to your Australian address. The only thing is as your primary address you need to have it as a valid US address (but then can add a separate shipping address to AU).

        • We should't need to do such a workaround though.

          • @jno: It literally takes 5 mins to set up a new US account which you can use any time these deals come up. There’s no real competition to eBay here compared to the US (hence why we keep getting all the crappy ‘20% off jack up the prices by 20% beforehand’ that everyone goes nuts over on here).

Until people actually take a stand against eBay and don’t just bend over every second day there’s a crap eBay deal, then we’ll continue to get them whilst the US and UK get better deals (which we can at least mostly take advanatage of).

  • +2

Reserving my judgement til the deal comes live to see if we can actually use it :) good find though!

    • +1

      Keep reserving it

  • -6

25% off, but you'll be charged 10% GST on American items.

It'd be good if it works on AU items, but I've never registered a US account. I can just sign up with any random email, and still pay via my standard PayPal?

    • +2

      Do you even OzBargain?

      • Apparently he is not

  • +1

Thanks Universe. I have not been able to buy the 5% off digital eBay gift cards all week. The amount of time I’ve wasted trying different accounts, devices, etc. I guess I’m supposed to just buy off the US website with better site wide discounts and conditions

  • +1

Do I need a US eBay account? Or can I just use my AUS eBay account? Cheers

    • Wondering the same thing 🤔

      • +4

Sign up for a USA eBay account, just use an USA address. There is no validation. You can use mine 1600 Pennsylvania Ave NW, Washington, DC 20500, USA

edit - dont use same email address - name can be the same though

      • Would be interesting. I’ve purchased ebay gift cards during eBay UK 15% sale in the past

        • Yep, works with UK but not US.

          • @Taegukgi: Really? That'd be sweet.

  • Thanks OP!

  • I can see that the conditions say the order cannot be paid with gift cards, but has anyone tried before on a similar sale?

    • +1

Doesn't help me, Shavershop has 20% off and 5% gift cards so no point using eBay US lol

    • +1

it's right, from experience. I tried in a different sale and additional the Ebay US site considered my ebay Australia gift card to be foreign

      • Interesting, thanks for that. I’m still going to give it a try :)

        • How'd it go? I've got 5 gift cards 'burning a hole' in my inbox but have been hamstrung by eBay.au's bs conditions.

          • @Skinnerr: I used my remaining Au gift card balance on eBay US no issue? It was even sitting in the checkout page waiting, all I had to do was tick the box to use it.

From my last exeperience, a new/unused gift card was tied to eBay Au, so couldn't use it anywhere else, but since I chipped into it prior, I could use it on any eBay site :/

  • didn't even know the UK deal from yesterday. couldn't find a link either, what is it?

    • +2

Got pulled from here when it was found to be very limited in use. I.e. it could only be used to send to UK addresses, amongst other things.

  • Little confused first it was sitewide eBay us
Now is it toys only? Or the toys code is listed since there is no min spend?

    • EBay US running two promos. Two separate coupons.
