First post. This is the cheapest I've personally seen this tablet for.

I really don't know what you are on about. I have the previous model and it is awesome. This one has a bigger screen and only negative I see is that it no longer has the fingerprint reader. It now supports HDMI/Displayport over the USB-C. I use the pen daily and have no issues. I would normally change the launcher on an ANdroid device but the Samsung launcher has been fine. This price is awesome. A pen slot would be good, but these come with a full size pen so it is thicker than the tablet. The pen has a clip just like any other normal pen.
What do you mean by a clunky interface? Isn't it a pretty standard Android launcher? Why not load a different launcher if it is that bad. Being Android it has many customisable options to set it up to personal preference. It has icons and widgets to launch apps, what else could you have? What exactly do you mean by clunky?
Edit: Doesn't your case have a holder for the pen?
He wants iOS.
I really love dex mode with a mouse. It's a serviceable replacement for a laptop, something no ipad can do.
I got the official keyboard cover so the pen slots into there. But I understand the frustration if you don't have it. The pen is more comfortable than the thin s pens though.
I'm not sure what you're comparing this to. If you're comparing to a Windows tablet, then it may seem clunky for work use.
As for nowhere to keep the S pen, what full size tablet does have a pen slot? The Surface tablets don't and the iPad Pro doesn't either.
As for price though, I'm with you. I would grab this immediately if it were under $500. But that's because it would be an amazing deal at that price.
It's nice they include the s pen, however, with a last gen processor SD835, 4gb ram, not quite enough for a android tablet to run multi task smoothly… i agree if this tablet price below 500 it's a good choice for watching videos
What apps are you loading that you find bogs down with this model? The previous model has less and has no issues. The reviews also did not have the same experience you have had? How long have you owned it?
The problem is that we normally don't upgrade our tablets that often compared with phones, so if they cannot last for more than 4 years, I won't buy them.
If you want a tablet to last that long then get an ipad.
Why would you think they wouldn't last 4 years? Sure, apple has been caught out stuffing around with hardware through software to cause issues for users, but why would you think the hardware would stop working in any particular period of time? I have tablets from 2011 and 2012 that perform as they did, and some have custom firmware where they actually work better than they did. It is not like there is some conspiracy to have apps suddenly change their behaviour on hardware they see as four years old. Apps work as they do, and especially on Android they are very lightweight in regard to processing power required. Games are about the only thing that really gives them a work out, and midrange, and even entry units have performed fine for several years with them.
if you are not going to use it to crack a coconut, it will last for more than 4 years for sure
I have the 1st generation tab s 10.5, its a true beast in multimedia use. Mine still runs very well. Samsung really produces the best display in the market. Its a shame that Android tablet can not live up to its expectation. If Apple ever made an Ipad with 16-10 aspect ratio for better media consumption then I think it will be the end for android tablet.
You make no sense. What app are you missing? What are you unable to do that you need on a tablet, that does not require PC type hardware? There are some specialist applications to work with particular hardware that were aimed at IOS, but now they are generally available for Android, and vice versa as time goes on more application support is only possible with Android.
I regret not buying that 10.5. Samsung went away from 16:10 to 4:3 after that, and I thought the possibility out buying a wide screen oled tablet were over. But very thankful they went back to 16:10 for for s4. I snapped one up pretty quick, though I miss having a white option.
4:3 tablets look really silly as a media consumption device or camera if you take wide shots
as a real tab s4 user, I can assure you that this tablet has not lag when multitasking. dex mod on this 10 inch screen is amazing and it runs ubuntu 16 now as well, which means you can use it like a pc if you know how to use ubuntu. I'm running full function IDE on it no problem.
I really don't know what samsung are doing these days. I have one of these tablets for work and I hate it. Comes with an S pen no where to keep it, the OS is clunky and the table is heavy. Has a nice screen but that's about all. I'd wait for a deal < $500.
