      Depends on the length - most cable runs from the engine bay to the boot will use around 3-4 metres depending on individual vehicle interior and routing.
      At that length, I wouldn't recommend putting more than 25A through an AWG8. Better to use AWG4 to begin with (also future proofing any additions).
      That said, this is probably fine for the budget install, with a single boot mounted monoblock around 150wrms.

        yeah i had a look at the charts. lucky for me i have AWG2 already, but this might be hand for when I sell my car.

      If you are running a 500WRMS (not a 500W Sony/Pioneer/cheap shit) then I would be running it off 4GA. 8GA is only really suited to the really cheap budget or low powered amps.

  using ohms law ( V= I x R, P= I x V )you can determine suitability for you application.
