iPhone XS Max 256GB $1899 Delivered @ MyMobile ($1804.05 @ Officeworks Price Beat)

600

Hi Folks,

For those who are skeptical about buying iPhone from eBay, i am glad to say that i was able to get Officeworks to price beat mymobile.com.au (looks like they have a shop in Brisbane). Although these may not be the 'cheapest' prices, but you are getting them from an established brick and mortar store without any potential warranty dramas.

I was able to get the iPhone XS MAX 256gb for $1804.05 after Officeworks price beat.
$1899 (RRP $2049) listed on here: https://mymobile.com.au/iphone-xs-max-256gb-space-grey-unloc…

Other notable mentions: https://mymobile.com.au/catalogsearch/result/?q=iphone+xs
iPhone XS 512gb $1899 (RRP $2199) - Officeworks price beat $1804.05
iPhone XS 64gb $1479 (RRP $1629) - Officeworks price beat $1405.05
iPhone XS MAX 64gb $1699 (RRP $1799) - Officeworks price beat $1614.05

Mymobile lists these as AU stock with free delivery, Officeworks was able to price beat over the phone before i went to collect. I suggest calling first as in store experience varies when it comes to price beat.

Best of luck!

    Thanks, bought 3…

  • Pretty much the same price as non-max 256gB. I wonder why it's so difficult to find a deal on the 256GB XS, I gather it must be a popular choice.

  • +21

Close to 2 grand for a mobile phone. What has the world come to?

    • +3

      It's the world of apple.
Other fruits are just as normal as before.

    • -1

These comments really have become tiresome.

First, as our well-known contributor 'HighandDry' would most likely say (in the best libertarian spirit): No-one is being forced to purchase an expensive mobile device. It is entirely a personal choice. If you don't like it, that's your problem. Don't buy one. There are many very inexpensive mobile devices available, which function perfectly as a 'mobile phone'.

Second, these Apple (and Samsung, and other) devices are not just 'mobile phones'. I can only assume, AussieDaddy, that you have never actually observed a person using one of these devices; just making telephone calls is not really a very common occurrence. Perhaps you have been too busy keeping the kids off your lawn?

For your elucidation, these expensive 'mobile phones' are, in fact, extremely powerful teeny-weeny portable computers. They run programs, which the young folks call 'apps'. Apparently they also take photos. Oh, and some of the 'apps' enable social connection between potentially millions of people all over the world. Fancy that, eh? You can even watch videos of cats falling off benches.

      • -5

Can buy a cheap android that does all this for a couple of hundred bucks. If you like paying out the posterior for slick advertising and being locked into what apple thinks you should do, more power to you.

      • HighAndDry thinks electricity privatisation has been a good outcome even as the ACCC calls it a failure and believes that governments should allow predatory lenders to operate because the victims have some sort of moral failing.

He substitutes neoliberal ideology for reality even as it's against his own interests.

      • To partially quote you, Roman Sandstorm, "If you don't like my comment, that's your problem. Don't read it."

Seriously though, did you take your medication this morning? lol

        • +1

If you think about it, it's a good point though. Why you need to spend almost 2 grand for a phone mainly used to take pics check youtube and play games when Oppo phones can do the same for much lower price

        • +1

But I wasn't the one making some kind of moralistic and phony (see what I did there?) outrage.

And it's a straw dog argument anyway. All those so offended say: "Two thousand dollars for a phone. How ridiculous." (The hidden presumption that someone else's $2k would be better spent on something more worthy.)

These devices are not 'phones'. And by judging them that way, and those who own them, you are making a fundamental mistake.

If your argument was: "Oh, the new iPhone is $500 dearer than an equivalent Samsung, and that $500 would be better saved for retirement in 50 years" then you may have some credibility. But to whinge about the price of something you will never purchase and to completely mischaracterise and miscategorise the device anyway, makes your bleat pretty worthless.

It's a familiar theme here at OzB (and elsewhere): "Oh my goodness gracious, whoever would spend $400,000 on a Maserati? What outrageous conspicuous consumption. How morally wrong."

How was that journey out here on the Mayflower, by the way?

          • @Roman Sandstorm: LMAO! Does OzBargain pay you for dropping these essay-long comments, mate? Keep up the good work. OzB is the next reddit.

            • @AussieDaddy: It was a good read tho.

            • @AussieDaddy: Hehehehe… thanks… I think. Twenty years at uni had to be good for something.

"I eschew your flimsy 140-character limit, and I repudiate your goldfish-like attention span."

              :-)

              • @Roman Sandstorm: Don't remind me uni, bruh. I did a bachelor's degree as a mature-age student and hated writing essays and reading those long-ass articles like hell. Still have to pay off that government debt. Worst decision of my life. lol

Notice the wallpaper hides the notch.

  • +5

Because of that notch I will not pay $2000 for it!!

    • Same here. IMO, very disappointed with this design from Apple . the notch is a a bad design.

      • … and in other news: Robert Menzies elected PM.

    • The notch is because of the camera?
How do you have a front camera without a notch?

      • +1

Already been done man. Some new phones have a pop up camera. No doubt Apple will copy this idea next year. Mark my words.

        • Not if it's been patented they won't

      • Samsung is investing in behind screen camera/sensor RnD.

      • Google "infinity O"

  • -4

Such a ridiculous price. How can you justify this? Gotta be fanboys.

    • +1

rich people and corporates (who are just spending other people’s money)

      • I know poor people who will save up or purchase the lastest iPhones to keep up with the trends

  • +2

Well done OP and thanks for sharing.

  • I am on the look out for an Apple deal, but I just can’t justify spending this much on a phone. I like IOS but I think I’ll stick to my S8+.

    • +1

      Get a second hand X for $800-900

    • +2

I've always felt the "XS" (excess) referred to the price

  • You guys buying AppleCare? Or willing to risk having to pay $500 to fix a crack in the display (which Apple will require repair of before they do any warranty work)?

    • +4

the Amex Essentials card (no annual fee) has a Screen Insurance feature - you only pay 10% of the repair cost, valid for two repairs per year. The phone has to have been purchased with the card, or monthly payments on a phone plan paid with the card.

    • Invest in a good case

  • I wish I would read this 3 days ago so I don't have to spend $1750 for xs max 256 from an ebay seller.

    • Don’t regret. How could you read sth posted in the future?

      • I should block ozbargain website so I don't have to read posts anymore

  • your description says the 512 is 1804 but this only applies to the 256?

    iPhone XS 512gb $1899 (RRP $2199) - Officeworks price beat $1804.05

edit: my bad i thought this was the xs max 512. Pls disregard. Good price for the xs

  • I really think the iPhone price is far from its true value.

    • +3

      Agreed.

But don't you think this argument could be applied to just about anything purchased anywhere, ever?

  • Is this the norm now? $1900 phone and thats when its cheap? ridiculous.. apple or aos no phone should cost this much. Most i've paid ever is for my Note8 when Hardly normal had it for $987 and i got it on Amex with $100 rebate so 887 and even then its bordering on overpriced!

  • Its way overpriced. I am wondering that OP posted the receipt and Can someone use that receipt to claim TRS?

    • name and address required on the receipt to claim TRS on products over $1k

  • -2

    Such a ridiculous price.

can’t justify spending this much on a phone.

I really think the iPhone price is far from its true value

    Its way overpriced.

What really is the point of this? Is it because some people are angry/sad/disappointed/whatever that they cannot afford one of these items? And their response is to ridicule and criticise? Thus making themselves feel better?

Where is the equivalent vitriol directed against… Bang & Olufsun, or Maserati, or Tiffany, or any other premium brand product? Yes, Gucci handbags are way overpriced; who could justify spending that much on a handbag?

It's a seemingly odd, almost psychological phenomena, that some people when discussing smart phones appear take on a strident, moralistic-type puritan ethos. As if highlighting the sheer waste of hard-earned, god-sanctioned money on such a trivial item somehow imbues them with smug superiority. Ironically, this is exactly the same thing that purchasers of 'premium' items seek themselves.

    • They hate that the superior experience Apple users have over them. No amount of terabytes of RAM in their Android phones is going to compete with a well-oiled OS, so they get mad.

    • +1

Hi Roman, no need to be so defensive, you are on OzBargain, not on OzLuxury!

Besides, we regular folks do complain about wives/girlfriends buying overpriced handbags.

    • Some people sadly are defined by how high their horses are. What they can't understand or misunderstand is immediately an attack on their senses and feel offended if you don't agree.

  • This is the best phone ever

  • Anyone concerned that officeworks will eventually change their policy again?

    • +1

      Until then, thank you!

  • +1

Imagine paying nearly 2 grand for a phone, could build a high end gaming pc for less.

  • that feel when you purchased it full price from JBHI5 on the weekend :'(

  • Update: Not sure did I missed something to say! But the officeworks guys refused the price beat saying they couldn’t find the model number in the mymobile site.

  • +1

Just bagged one from Melb CBD store! Cheers OP.

    • Didn't they ask anything regarding Model Number?
I called the office work number and the guys was saying since the model number isn't mentioned they can't give it

      • +1

        Call again ;)

        • which Melb store? I'm after a 256 space grey ?

got a person who I should talk to ?

          thanks

          • @whoistheg: Finally got it from Rusell st one. But the black and gold are out of stock on mobileciti so they gave only the silver one.
But at this price it's good for me :) :)
Best of luck to you as well.

            • +2

@nep: Yup luck of the draw I reckon. If they're asking for a model number, use the Skyphonez Link to price match. They have it for the same price.

  • Just got a gold one from Pitt st officeworks. They can only match the gray and gold.

  • Officeworks will price match MyMobile as earlier this year when I purchased the iPhone X 256gb from Officeworks Melbourne - I used MyMobile to price match.

  • +3

Folks you can also try price beat against this store: https://www.skyphonez.com.au/iPhone-XS-Max?search=iphone%20x…
(note not tested but they appear to have a physical shop in NSW)

    • Thanks @asun88 I just ordered 2 256Gb iPhone XS Max's from my local Officeworks and they price matched Skyphonez so I saved almost $500 of retail.

    • Thanks mate, quick heads up. You can price match with Officeworks even if the site does not have a physical store.

  • how long is the warranty ?

  • Thanks very much OP, price matched XS Max 256gb successfully and purchased at Subiaco, WA.

Staff member stated that they could order another one in and match.

    Hopefully this policy continues!

    • That's my local store and is also the model that I'm after.

Do you remember who served you?

      Cheers

  • I used the IPhone XR today since iPhone 6S plus and I went back to my note 9 after 6 hours of use. Can't stand IOS limitation. That haptic feedback is nice though.

  • What do i do if a few of my local OW stores don’t have any stock in, do i call up and ask to order one or just wait until they restock? Thanks.
