I prefer this free tomtom app.
    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tomtom.spe…

It has speed camera warnings, speed limit warnings and can be turned On & Off automatically bbased on specific Bluetooth connections like when connect to car Bluetooth. I am enjoying it in my old car. No need for navigation upgrade.

    • Does it show the speed cameras in VIC?

      • It says it works in Australia

    • Looks like a great app. Thanks heaps!

      • Rated 3.8 when I looked…

Waze is another great alternative that displays current speed, current speed limit, as well as various categories of hazards contributed by the community including fixed and mobile speed cameras, police and other general hazards.

      https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.waze

      • Waze is awesome, it does have a few bugs but for a free app.

    • +1

I use Waze for my GPS and speedometer but this looks like a decent alternative.

      • Does Waze let 2 friends see each other's location & movements?

Or is it Family…360 that I'm thinking of…? Or both…?

        • Yes I belive it does.. Both parties need to make a profile and link for it to work

    • How come TomTom app is free? I thought it was always a paid one as it's a GPS brand.

      • Likely to get on your device so they can market/advertise to you?

  • +2

    Thanks, installed both.

    • ditto

  • How do you close it down once installed?

  • Back button, side panel displays, exit

    • Got it - cheers mate

  • does it show speed limits?

  • This looks way better then the other 4 Speedometer apps I have tried will give it a go tomorrow.

  • I use Velociraptor which shows speed and speed limits on google maps.
    Works well.
Only issue is if you lose signal it sticks with the last speed limit until it gets signal again to update.

  • will it tell me where i parked?

Why do devs like this guy have 7 gps speed apps? All with basically the same UI?

    • impending world domination

    • Yep, have wondered the same thing - seems a little fishy to me.

FWIW, I'm very happy with Ulysse Speedometer. Bought the pro version at $2.99 as it's got an excellent overlay function that works nicely to add a speedometer to Google Maps. I like Waze but I have issues with its stability on long drives.

  • Can this app give me 0-100km/hr times :)

      Nope.
But you can call some boys in blue from Highway Patrol and they'll be happy to help you out.
